It is amazing to go to this River Camp, the road some are dirt road but the view is spectacular and it is deep in forest. When we arrived I was worried to see tents that we will stay. But when we came in side they have amenities, hot shower, hot tub, internet. Later we know they have spa, jacuzzi, sauna and we can go nearby Dunton Hot Spring to enjoy hot springs. The staff welcome us is Wes a very friendly and professional. The view are spectacular , there are cows, horses around The food menu are fixed to all clients and changed daily but they can change if we request. We can pay for fishing trip and especially horse riding the mountains and meadows with Vicky a very nice lady This is a memorable trip and only thing they required only 2 a room so we have a 17 yo son and we have to pay same prize for his room and they do not permit rollover bed. If you like nature this is a perfect trip Dr Vo…
5 stars does not give this secluded haven justice. Glamping at its finest. We fell asleep listening to the river. Food was prepared by amazing Chefs. Chef Basil is incredibly talented! Farm to table foods. Sarah, Kodi, Tara,Max,Noah the entire team pampered us and by the end of our stay we felt like family.Beautiful hikes, fly fishing, horseback riding, massage. You can also stay at Dunton Hot Springs. Have dinner in a romantic tee pee or Arrange a picnic lunch as you go hiking or biking. The staff is willing to do anything for anyone. Also, the property and tents were kept so clean. A+rating and thankful for the staff who kept our bath towels and Tent so clean(I am kind of a germaphobe)Thank you to the cleaning staff. We never saw them to thank them. The views of the mountains were memorizing.Star gazing was memorizing. home less than 24 hours and already missing the beauty and staff❤️ Please go to River Camp and go glamping or Dunton Hot Springs and stay in an old mining town...it will not disappoint.…
Wow...what an amazing place this is. We decided to take part of their all day lunch and were totally amazed by the delicious food and service. They took care of everything. We spent the whole day in their Farmhouse. Great place and worth the visit. Next time we are going to spend a night.
Very remote but great accommodations. King size beds, tiled bathrooms with a deep soaking tub in a large tent?? This is the only way to camp! Go to sleep to the sound of the river flowing past the tents. Joelle took great care to meet our every need. The food was incredible thanks to Carlos and Patrick. Highly recommended!
Dunton River Camp is the best kind of Glamping. Camping in luxurious tents that will blow your mind. There is a king size bed, sofa, gas stove... even wifi. The bathroom is better then some hotels I've stayed in with dual sinks and a great bath /shower. There is a wonderful porch outside your tent to view the spectacular scenery or just sit and read a book. There is hiking, biking (free), horseback riding and fly fishing lessons (at a price). All the food and drink (are included) is at the main house not far from the tents. We thought the food was very good but not what we expected otherwise I would have given it a 5. The best part was all the great people we met during our stay. Eating is family style so all the visitors had lots of time to get to know each other. Also, after dinner we all went out to the fire pit to sit around and have smores and after dinner drinks.…
My partner had been wanting to go Colorado and I received an email from Outside Magazine about this place…"Glamping" sounds intriguing so we booked our quick getaway to Cresto Ranch for two night of "Glamping" and then to Dunton Hot Springs with a cabin.. The Tents were wonderful next to a river with all the basic comforts of home and more, We had our meals at the lodge perhaps a few hundred steps away. No complaints about the food and service and what made it a special delight was meeting other adventurous Glampers. Listening to the river was wonderful… one needs to know how to work the push button wood stove which warmed up the tent in the late evening and early cooler mornings. All in all it was all one could ask for in a "Glamping" experience. I have to agree with the other reviews that the price is a bit steep for the value. There were more challenges for us at the Dunton Hot springs, an adjustment after our cozy tent, the only cabin left was the Potter house, which was further away from the lodge where everyone shared in meals. The cabin needs serious updating but the location and beauty was outstanding. We shared our challenges with the manager and he gave us a small discount for our stay which helped to swallow the overpriced stay. The springs were wonderful and healing. Again the food and service was great and meeting other people in this setting was a plus. We went away feeing peaceful after being in nature… the best medicine.…
I truly cannot believe it! I was able to stay at Dunton Hot Springs last year and it was amazing (you may be able to find my review on tripadvisor), and i knew I wanted to come back for some more R&R. When I called and spke to Sheri (who is still great by the way) we were talking about the different cabin options as I wanted to try a different one, and she suggested I try Dunton River Camp. I remember hearing about it when I was last up there, and i thought it was an intriguing option. After discussing with her further I decided to go for it. I am not necessarily the camping kind of person...if you know what I mean... but my oh my...the tents are AMAZING! It is not far from Dunton...i think about 3 or 4 miles, but it feels like you are out in the wilderness with tents nestled in the trees, and all you hear is the noise of the river...or birds chirping. Cant get better than that, can you? Well you can if the "tent" has a king sized bed, full bathroom with toilet, double vanity, HUGE tub/shower with lots of hot water and toweel warmers...oh, and internet, phones and a gas stove in the room. I have had the fortune to stay in some nice hotel rooms, and have to say this is as good as many of the best. the setting is great, the staff is great (same staff as Dunton Hot Springs, as I recognized some friendly familiar faces) and same great food. I was there for three nights and had plenty to do. Each tent has 2 mountain bikes, so we went exploring up the trails (some are pretty extreme, so the road was perfect for me). We had massages, went on a few big hikes and then soaked in the most amazing sauna by the river. I had never seen anything like that. Food was served communally in the main farmhouse and was excellent, and like at Dunton Hot Springs we met some great guests from all over....one couple from NY, one from Germany and another family from LA doing a Western Road Trip. The place is small, only 8 tents I think...so even when its full you are looking at 16 people. It honestly is hard for me to fault this. I was a little sceptical and scared of coming here and wish I had access to the hot springs every minute of every day, but I really didnt miss that at all. I kind of liked having my own little oasis in my tent and surroundings...and the sauna made up for it anyway. I saw a comment about the price. Yes, it is pricey, but keeping in mind what you get for it and where you are (that is the most amazing forest setting in an amazing "tent"), I would say it is worth every penny and then some. Justin, Sheri, Jito, Chloe, Eric and the Manager Ramon were very accomodating and a pleasure to be around. Cant wait to come back again...I am thinking thanksgiving...we'll see…
It is ashame that a nice place is so over-priced for what you might expect for the prices charged. The location is beautiful and ther are many great things but at extra costs above the sky high prices. We were not able to stay at Dunton Springs but we're offered their sister propert Dunton River Camp. The thing that brought me there were the springs but they were not available due to the owners keeping it private for their stay. The food was not over the top as the web site indicates and the service was mediocre to match the quality of the food. The tents were well appointed but again for the money the value is just not here. The location is the most promising aspect and if you are an angler you will have found one of the most premier location to try your hand at fly fishing. The staff was not bad but just was not of the caliber to match the price. So my advice is to expect less and be prepared to pay more.…
Cresto Ranch is thoughtfully situated on its sensational property. The staff; Mandy, Sheri, Justin, Jason, Loretta, Daniel, Chad and Shane are genuine, accommodating and professionally casual. Meals (and Sutcliffe wines) are served at the main house and across the river, the tents are understated rustic comfort with luxe baths. Fishing the West Fork of the Dolores River with Henry and Jeff from Telluride Outside was outstanding! The Cresto and Dunton properties provide an abundance of opportunities for catching Rainbows, Browns and Cutthroats. Thank you Billy Joe for an incredible morning at Paradise Ranch! As amazing as the fishing was the hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking through the San Juans. A special place and memorable visit - would definitely return.
