This was a quick weekend getaway with my wife for her birthday. I had booked a couples massage for Saturday afternoon and dinner at Palace Arms ahead of our theater tickets for the same evening. I spoke with the concierge (Leewood) and arranged for flowers as well as a charcuterie board and wine & truffles to be delivered to our room. Unfortunately, the couples massages were cancelled due to a water leak in the spa and that really put damper on the trip. We were able to get into our room early, which was wonderful! The room itself was spacious and well appointed and we enjoyed it very much. We ordered room service for lunch in lieu of our spa time and watched a movie. I was able to secure a shorter massage the next morning for my wife to make up for the one we missed out on, which was supposed to be her birthday surprise. Dinner at Palace Arms was exquisite! What a wonderful meal and experience! The concierge was able to work some magic for us and secure a reservation for High Tea the next morning. This experience was also Five Stars! We thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing and will be back in the future. Overall, things didn't go as planned, but a great time was had and the Brown Palace Hotel & Staff were wonderful.

After unpacking for weeks since moving to a suburb of Denver, my wife and I needed to get away. We enjoy historic hotels so The Brown Palace Hotel fit the bill for a two-night stay. We were pleased to be met by the valet when arriving and were pleasantly greeted by reception when checking in. In fact, we were even allowed to check in early because we had booked a food tour and had hoped to just park the car and walk to the tour. While at The Brown Palace we took advantage of an offered package that allowed us to waive the valet charges and receive a credit ($19.00 per person) to use at breakfast. We experienced two wonderful breakfasts plus we had lunch in the Ship Tavern one day and enjoyed a light dinner and cigar in the Churchill Bar one night. Our room was, in my estimation, quite large with a corresponding large bathroom. There were USB ports suggesting the room had been recently upgraded. A flat screen TV, a credenza with refrigerator & safe, a modern desk and a settee completed the room décor. The hotel's location in the triangle formed by Tremont Place, 17th Street and Broadway was surprisingly quiet. I slept well both nights. While we were not able to make a reservation for the famous Tea Party, we did enjoy impeccable service from the valet to reception to the staff in each of the restaurants. It was a very pleasing stay that I would recommend to anyone particularly those that enjoy a good historic hotel.

Front desk customer service was rude, which is unfortunate for such a beautiful hotel. I did love the accommodations, classical music in the main lower square, food and history. However, the front desk personnel seemed bothered to answer basic questions and perform basic functions. As an example, I called to have my rental car brought up to get to the airport. I was never connected to the valet, and the front desk person said “nobody is at the valet, but we have your name and they should probably bring your car up”. When I went to retrieve my vehicle after 15 min, it was not there. The woman at the front desk asked for my valet card which I didn’t have. She claimed there was no way for the hotel to retrieve my vehicle. I told her I had my name with ID, room number, vehicle description, and license plate number. She still claimed she could not help me. My girlfriend came to the front desk and heard the rudeness of the front desk operator, and simply said “no problem, we can figure something out” . The lady working at the front desk said “Fine, if you think you can work it out l, then you work it out on your own”, and she walked into the back and refused to speak with us anymore. She was the only working as it was ~5:00AM. After some time, we finally tracked down a valet person on our own and he was able to retrieve our vehicle without hassle.

History and Hospitality. You have both here. This lovely historic hotel is a must see and we enjoyed two nights here. In addition to the stately decor, the Palace Arms restaurant has two aces up it’s sleeve: Dewa, the waiter, and Jerome, the host. Look for them. These gentleman were fabulous and a true asset to the entire experience at the Brown Palace. They understand graciousness and deliver in every way. It capped off a great weekend in Denver. We’ll be back.

We got in late and the room was ready, but there was one issue with the room. We spoke to the Manager on Duty, Cameron and he put us into another room that was even better, at no additional cost. He made our stay an absolute joy by taking care of us. Thank you and the staff and venue was amazing. I would recommend upgrading the room and not getting the smaller room.

Right away, I was confronted with maintenance issues. On my way to my room for the first time, I discovered that one of only two elevators was out-of-service and it remained so for my entire four day stay with no apparent effort to fix it. In fact, it wasn't even labelled as out of service despite that it never budged during my stay. When I asked the front desk staff about it, they stared at me blankly and said nothing as though they had been instructed not to say anything about it. It was like they were actively trying to hide it. This situation yielded frequent 10 to 15 minute waits for the one available elevator during the course of my stay. My room was tiny and the bathroom was so small as to be barely usable. There was a mysterious gadget hanging from the ceiling that was clearly broken. The furnishings were very worn and the platform for the queen size bed appeared to be one designed for a double bed so the mattress hung off about 5 inches on all sides. So you risked ending up on the floor if you sat on or slept near the edge of the bed. To be sure, the architecture is interesting and the music and high tea in the lobby were quaint. But the hotel is not well-suited to business travelers or anyone else who isn't it just there for the quaintness of hotel's traditions. And the hotel is definitely not up to Marriott's normal standards.

Good day tjbjmp, thank you for taking the time to pass along your feedback. My apologies that your stay at our historic hotel did not meet your expectations. Yes, unfortunately, we did have an elevator down for a couple of weeks- unavoidable maintenance issues, so we used one of the service elevators for our guests as well to help ease the wait times. Whether you are in a new building or a 131 year old such as ours, maintenance issues always arise when you least expect it! I do hope you would give us another try should your travels bring you to Denver, as I would love for you to experience the true Brown Palace welcome and stay!

Check-in took awhile and we had a hard time communicating. A/C is unable to keep up due to the the outside temp. Get used to the stairs you need to use them cause only one of the two elevators is useable and it is SLOW. Overall the place needs a deep clean. I the stairs are very dirty (piles of hair an debris on them). The staff that is in charge of the banquet rooms is exceptional. Our meeting room was constantly stocked and attended to. GREAT JOB

Good day ronfort, and thank you for your feedback regarding your stay. It is because of feedback like yours that we can get stronger everyday. You are correct that with a 131 year old building our AC does have a little bit harder time keeping up when each day is near 100 degrees. I apologize for that, and we are working to improve our HVAC system. As far as the cleanliness of the building, please know that we take deep pride in this, and the entire team work very hard to maintain our high cleanliness scores as well as we continue to have the public areas of the hotel deep cleaned on a quarterly basis. I am so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your conference, and I will happily pass along your comments to the team. I do hope you will stay with us again should your travels bring you through Denver. Thank you!

We were told to visit the Brown Palace by friends. Twice we visited the Churchhill Cigar bar and both times were superb. Andrea took such great care of us both times, I felt like home. Plus Andrea makes the best Old Fashioned with Bullit Whiskey you'll ever have. Thank you Andrea! The entire hotel staff is engaging, sweet, and extremely attentive.

Originally we were given a room on the 5th floor which had not being cleaned up and prepared for us. At that moment we encountered one of your food servers in the hallway who was so nice and very energetic. (I wish I knew her name) She took it upon herself to call the front desk for us and apologized multiple times for the mistake. We know things like this can happen, what makes the difference is the way the staff goes about it showing they really cared. We were given another room. At this room The AC was on so high that it felt very cold. I attempted to adjust the temperature but it did not work. The "off" option would not even turn off the AC. A technician who was very nice came and he tried all he could to make it work but he could not fix it at the moment. The bathroom had a very bad smell coming from the shower drain so it was hard to consider taking a shower. Curtains were in a bad condition. The bed was very noisy and fixed up poorly. The main door and the bathroom doors were hard to close. Walls are not sound proof so you can hear the person next door. I hate to be a pain but ended up calling the front desk to ask for another room if possible. The front desk manager was very understanding and did all she could to find a better room for us. She explained the situation with the AC/Heating system and that potentially in the new room was still the possibility of needing someone to manually adjust it for us. We saw her going to other rooms maybe looking for a better one for us. Finally she gave us room 343 which was way much better than the one before. More lighting, no bad odor and the AC system was set to an acceptable temperature. She also was very apologetic and gave us a voucher to use at the restaurant. The restaurant staff was so welcoming and polite. Over all what makes the big difference and makes the guest put on a smile are your employees! I hope you are aware of that because even though I would think twice to spend a high price for the type of rooms you have (in bad conditions) I would think positively that the high price on your rooms are much more forward to reward your entire staff. I think it is possible to maintain your building structures as they were in the good all days with a good maintenace system.
