We stayed for one night here for a Denver staycation. Beautiful entryway with music and Christmas lights. Room was small and walls were paper thin- we could hear the movie being played next door for 2 and half hours. The bed was comfortable and clean. The room could have been cleaner- stains on the walls and in the bathroom. The shower had terrible water pressure ( old hotel, we get it). The ceiling FAN in the room made a noise that we had to put up with to drain out the noise coming from the room next door and outside in the hallway. Also, the guy at the front desk could have be nicer. My husband added his Marriott platinum rewards number to my reservation and we didn’t receive “ thanks for being a loyal member” or anything which he usually does when staying at Marriotts. It’s the little things especially since people aren’t traveling as much as usual with COVID. Average stay, wouldn’t stay there again. Ship tavern is pretty good food/cocktail wise as a side note!

The Brown Palace is undergoing a rooms renovation. If you are hoping for the traditional,, warm guest room, you are soon to be disappointed. The new rooms will remind you of a Marriott Courtyard room. The hotel was franchised as a Marriott - this is the result. The Brown was always known for its ambiance. This is changing.

I recently stayed at the Brown Palace. Be warned - the hotel is not operating anywhere close to the level other hotels in Denver are operating at right now. I hope post-COVID the hotel can regain its footing, but unfortunately this historic institution is struggling at the moment. As just one of several examples, when you check in you receive a handout with different phone numbers/hours for different services and COVID rules. After calling the in-room dining 7 times over the course of 2 hours with no answer I decided to robo-dial to see if anyone would answer any number. No luck. Valet won’t pick up, nor will any other service outside the front desk. Interestingly, there are a lot of (seemingly glum) employees walking around, but you can tell COVID has dealt them and the hotel a major blow. Other examples – the employees at the Churchill Room and Ship’s Tavern decided to close 45 minutes earlier than posted hours even while there were diners still seated (this is a common theme – employees don’t follow the COVID rules and hours); several hallways reeked of marijuana; the hotel has taken all coffee, cups, pens, paper, and other basics out of the hotel rooms; and on. It’s frusterating because there are no vending machines or any other ways to get food/beverages in the building. I can’t even get the hotel to help with my bill, which should be item #1 for any institution. I ended up checking out early. The person in line with me was doing the same. The Brown Palace is an amazing institution and worthy of a visit. But I would wait until post-COVID before you visit.

We arrived at the Brown Palace Hotel and Spa because we were evacuated from our home due to the East Troublesome Fire. We arrived frazzled and anxious; however, the ambience of the hotel and the compassion of the staff helped minimize our stress. Our room was cheerful, clean, spacious, and comfortable. The lobby and restaurants offered a nice distraction as we enjoyed delicious food and entertainment by a jazz performance. The historical details of the hotel were beautiful. Our greatest appreciation, however, was for the staff. They provided wonderful support and sincere compassion as they interacted with us. Thank you, Brown Palace, for giving us a safe and very comfortable respite from the fires.

Enjoyed my stay here. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Staff was very courteous throughout this historic property. Enjoyed afternoon tea (do NOT miss this) and great dinner (prime rib) on property. I’m sure outside of COVID this place is normally jumping as it was still busy during my visit, but all precautions were being taken. Love music, too!
