This is a long-overdue review! We stayed at the Grand Lodge almost a year ago in September of 2020. There was a mix-up with our room leaving us looking at a long, hallway-like set-up (with one window overlooking the garbage bins) that was way too small for our needs. The manager upgraded us to a huge top-floor room with an enormous kitchen, dining room, 2 bathrooms, master bedroom and a pull-down queen size trundle bed in the living room. What's more, they only charged us for the rate for the smaller room. Everyone on staff during our stay was delightful and helpful. We celebrated my son's 21st birthday in such style. We couldn't have been more thrilled!

Great room with a gorgeous view. Comfy with sufficient amenities. Here during shoulder season so not much open but we didn’t care. However, we did miss not being able to enjoy the pool, spa, restaurant and fire pit.

We booked a six night stay in the grand lodge hotel. We chose this location because of the amenities: indoor/outdoor pool, fitness center (very important), and restaurant, etc.. We arrive and find out that we are the ONLY tenant for the time and that EVERY amenity is closed. I claim false advertising and will follow up with legal action. Absolutely ridiculous. Upon notice, I asked if this was mentioned on the website- I was told yes. I looked up the website and it indeed advertised all the amenities that we booked the trip to recieve. I will ask for a refund and move to another hotel. How are people from out of town supposed to be appraised of the whole town shutting down? Simple- they aren't. False advertising.

Honestly worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. Long story short we picked this location because it was "dog friendly hotel." However our entire vacation was ruined and could not leave the room due to noise complaints that our dogs are barking. Now I get late night or early AM how this could be annoying, however, this was at 2-4 in the afternoon and 9 pm at night. At a normal hotel making an exception I get it, but there were dogs barking all up and down the hall way, doors slamming and staff FILMING outside our door to claim it was only our dogs. The first night we were there we got phone calls to come back immediately at 8:30pm. We rushed back on the bus only to be greeted by this security guard on a power trip. Our agreement printed off and shoved in my face, yelling at me in the lobby in front of everyone on how I did not realize the damage I have done, how I need to FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO PUT THEM, and even though we had a ski pass for the next day we would have to "figure it out, they cant be left alone." I was so angry at the way I was treated I cried for hours. Embarrassed and humiliated and felt very unwelcome. The front desk did not help me at all, telling me to address the security guard only. Stay at your own risk. IF you are thinking of bringing your dog make sure they wont react to any noises or your vacation will be ruined.- not to mention no cleaning services daily and pool/hot tub is closed.

Response from , Owner at Grand Lodge Crested Butte
Responded Mar 31, 2021
Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay at the Grand Lodge. I'm very sorry that you felt that our team did not appropriately handle interacting with you over the pet policy. We will discuss your comments with our team to ensure we are responding appropriately. The Grand Lodge does allow dogs, but dogs are expected to be well-behaved, and owners are required to ensure that dogs do not bark incessantly in their absence. The HOA governing documents indicate that any pets that are deemed a nuisance by disrupting the experience of other guests and owners must be removed from property. This is why we contacted you upon receiving complaints from other guests and why we asked you to either ensure they are not left alone or consider boarding them for the duration of your stay. As soon as you left property, they barked incessantly for the entire time you left, and we had many complaints from other guests throughout your visit. Due to covid, we are not providing daily housekeeping service, and the pool and hot tub are closed. The safety of our guests and staff is our highest priority, and the guidance we have received is that it's not safe for our team to enter occupied rooms or for these facilities to open at this time. We all look forward to when the virus is under control and we can resume normal operations. We appreciate the fact that you took the time to let us know about your experience. We're very sorry that you failed to enjoy your stay. Heather Leonard General Manager

As a competitive freeride snowboarder, I have stayed at a lot of mountain properties. I am very easy to satisfy and do not expect much. Unfortunately I chose to stay at the Grand Lodge in Crested Butte for a friends-cation. To my dismay, the hot tub was still closed for COVID, which was not explained when I booked over the phone. That was not too much of an issue aside from the fact that it was sitting, clearly ready, right out front so you can see it every time you walk by. The real issue happened when we returned from a fun night on the town at 11pm on a Saturday. By normal standards this is not late and we were having a good time and laughing on the way to our room. Right as we get in there is a loud knock on the door and it is night audit and a security guy. One of the men, very rudely, immediately threatened to evict us for entering the lobby making noise. He then said "If I get a complaint (meaning he didn't receive one) I'll get the Sheriffs up here and evict you." I said "I really appreciate the assumption of guilt towards a paying guest but duly noted." He could have let it go then but he responded "If you want to use legal jargon like a d**k I'll throw you out right now
