We had a most wonderful relaxing stay at the RV park. Pretty quiet for being next to CO 149. Our RV spot was perfect. The staff and people were all very accomodating and friendly. The horseback ride with John was absolutely breathtaking! And to top things off, the herd of big horn sheep were in the pasture right before we left! Oh, and the hand dipped ice cream was delicious too ;-)
The place was filthy, mouse droppings and spiders on the walls. Can’t believe how run down the cabin #21 was. The shower was so dirty and full of bugs we couldn’t do it. There was a mouse that ran around the living room , who knows what else was in there. I was afraid to close my eyes at night. Of course we couldn’t get our money back, but we tried. We were stuck, because we checked in so late. This was supposed to be a special occasion for my wife and I. Pretty bad
We came up to have vacation and my truck had issues and they rented me a jeep that pretty much saved vacation. The store has the best ice cream and fried pies and much much more! You won’t be sorry you stopped because the staff is super friendly and very helpful! Thank y’all for saving our trip with the jeep rental! We will be back!
I’m giving this quaint little area an excellent rating because it is a heck of a deal! We weren’t spending a lot of time hanging around since there’s so much to do. That’s another great thing about Cottonwood Cove. They were helpful in suggesting great mini-trips. We rented a Jeep from them and did the Bachelor Loop and mine tour. We did the trail ride at CWC and it was well worth it. The staff is friendly and helpful. I can’t say enough good things. It isn’t a fancy hotel but exactly what the description said. We will definitely be back! ❤️
Cottonwood Cove. I love cabinets, ceilings, walls, and some furniture are being made out of the beetle kill pine trees the wood is unbelievable. Nestled at the face of a beautiful mountain, next to the river is this property that has fully equipped cabins and full hook up RV park, and a kids playground. The gift shop is great, the ice cream is better,..... they offer horseback riding, but how do you say any of this is better than the employees? Candy the owner is amazing and boy did she know how to pick some fantastic employees. Spoke with Jason, Ray checked me in, Vern does maintenance, Babette and Katie work around the property and help with the gift store and ice cream shoppe. They had a moose that showed up the other day, we saw deer and got to see some big horn sheep and their new offsprings. So many Hummingbirds. I love the horses. To all the people that I have mentioned here, I do appreciate you working and I love your enthusiasm, it made my stay here so enjoyable I can’t wait to come back. By the way, my room came with a fan, thank you for that. WiFi was good. I WOULD RECOMMEND!…
In March I talked with a co owner about having my wedding there all was good and we were given an affordable price with amazing views. We were ecstatic. On May 1st we went up and paid for everything. They told us that day that it was the first day they were open to the public. We spent hours going over the details and were promised and we paid in full for the pavilion, a spot by the river to get married, a cabin for 2 nights. It seemed too good to be true. 42 days later, exactly one week before our wedding on June 19, 2021 we got a call from the same co owner we had talked to back in March with very bad news. They had "accidentally" double booked the pavilion and we could no longer use it. She did offer the use of the restaurant, however, at max it could only hold less than half of the people we were expecting for the wedding. This was devastating. We were totally caught off guard. When we paid for everything on May 1st the ladies there checked their digital calendar and a written calendar and ensured us that June 19, 2021 was free and we would have total use of the pavilion. Apparently this was not the case. Given the circumstances we were forced to cancel our plans and totally redo all of our wedding plans. It was tons of work getting ahold of everyone invited and telling them of the change of location and having added expenses now forced upon us because of the location change. Please if you are planning on having any kind of event here have a back up plan! I hope this never happens to another couple.…
My wife and I reserved two nights at Cottonwood Cove. The campground seemed nice however the cabins were really run down. Dirty and we tried to relax with the pet mice running around the kitchen. Well, I think they were pet mice, they weren’t afraid of us. No cell service and after about 3 hours we decided to leave. Of course no refund. We would not go back.
Please find another place to stay, we were so disappointed with our stay here. We decided to splurge for the cabin 31 because in the description it said cabin 31 was the most secluded cabin they had. This could not be further from the truth. The owners of the facility decided to place rented RV spots right up on the cabin, and the individuals staying in those RV’s parked their cars and trucks right up on cabin 31. All day and into the evening we constantly heard doors opening and slamming and conversations. The RV closest to the cabin 31 had a cat and every morning we stayed there they would send the cat out at 6am in the morning and the cat would immediately start meowing incessantly to get back inside. The cat woke our whole family, including our kids sleeping upstairs (the walls are thin). The cat would also meow in the late evenings as well when we were trying to get our kids to sleep. When we addressed this with the manager, she said that there had been complaints about the cat so they would have to do something about this. It was very apparent the management was well aware of the problems going on around cabin 31 but was doing nothing to fix it. The silverware in the drawers had food stuck in them still, which during covid you would think they would take greater care to clean. There is no dishwasher and we were only left a small amount of soap for cleaning with a washcloth, no sponge or scrubbing pad provided. The kitchen was not stocked well, and I finally gave up cooking meals. There just were not enough cooking utensils and pots and pans. For example, there was only one very small sheet pan that could be used in the oven, everything else was plastic and would melt. The refrigerate was turned up to a warm temperature, and took 24 hours to cool down. We ended having to juggle food in and out of the freezer to keep from losing what we had brought with us. Again, bringing these concerns up to the manager she did not seem surprised and she admitted they needed to fix these issues. We were offered $100 off of our stay due to these difficulties, which they never credited back to our account. To conclude, this is not a private cabin, you are not secluded. And I am hoping to keep another family from overpaying for a cabin they think will be secluded.…
My husband and I recently stayed at Cottonwood Cove for 4 nights. This is a great place for a mountain getaway. The customer service is absolutely awesome. Be sure to visit the gift shop and don't miss the ice cream shop. And you can't leave without a piece of homemade coconut cream pie...oh my!!!
We stayed one night at an RV site that directly faced an open pasture (horses!) and a towering rock formation; really beautiful! Even though the RV sites were close together, there were only 24? total sites; so no crowding. Very quiet and peaceful. The property extends across the road with cabins, but we did not venture over there, so cannot comment. Firewood was complimentary and the staff friendly and helpful. Full hookups and wifi worked well. We camped in our 23 ft. Class C RV. Definitely would return. Thank you!
