Where do I begin, and is it possible to mention something nobody else has in a previous review? Probably not. After finding this spot on some google adventure, as a bicyclist who lives in Iowa and rides RAGBRAI, I had staying at the Buffalo Lodge on my list. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit! So comfortable in so many ways and the staff was so welcoming, and we felt safe. We appreciated the close proximity to our vehicle, both for loading and unloading. Rooms were spotless, and it is easy to see the owners are committed to this lodge. Yes, the exterior needs some attention, but as shared, they are working on it. There are numerous motels in that area that have given up since the gateway to the mountains (highway 24) now has a bypass. Kudos to Buffalo Lodge for honoring the past and present. So many activities are held there....I joined in a yoga class (My first!) and the Black Rose Acoustic Society provided us with local talent really enjoying themselves. Stay, stay, stay! My only regret is that I forgot to leave a contact to touch base with me in case the team needs a place to stay on RAGBRAI sometime. (FYI...The trail to America the Beautiful Park is in need of TLC....graffiti and lotsa trash, but that is totally out of the control of the lodge.)

Where do I even begin? This place was amazing. I was looking for simple, chill, humble, welcoming and the staff here sold me nothing short of just that. Tula was the one I met at the very beginning of this journey, and she made our check in so easy (we showed up 3 hours before check in time). BONUS about Tula, on Thursday night they had a live band and she was the opener! My soul was the happiest it has ever been. Her music choice was absolutely perfect, and her voice is so angelic. The rooms were nice and cozy. A/C was perfect. Beds were comfy. Shower temp was great. These folks didn't make me feel like a guest, they made me, and my crew feel like we were friends stopping by like we always do. (And this was our first time!) Hiking was our main objective, and I will say I was a bit intimidated by "cycling" places but the rack of bikes calling our names were a must. We rode all around Manitou Springs and it cost nothing but sweat equity. There are some restaurants nearby but if you google one that's a mile or two away, know that you are doing intense biking through the mountains. (I have a new respect for bikes because of this.) We got a Lyft for a couple of miles out and it cost us roughly $15/20 tip included. The hiking trails were very close by and the adventure through The Garden of the Gods was priceless. This was a 22nd birthday my son will never forget. There is something about the mountains really helps you appreciate the simple things in life. Thank you all for making us feel so welcome! We will definitely be coming back to conquer Pike's Peak one day. Until then, the memories you provided us will hold us for a lifetime. If you are looking for a place that is affordable, relaxing, fun, exhilarating and just downright great then Buffalo Lodge is the place for you.

Wow, thank you so much for your incredible review! We’re truly touched by your kind words and thrilled that your stay with us was so special—especially for your son’s 22nd birthday! It’s wonderful to hear that Tula made such an impression on you, from her warm welcome to her beautiful live performance. We’re so glad you felt at home here, like friends just stopping by, which is exactly the vibe we aim for! It’s fantastic that you took advantage of the bikes and enjoyed exploring Manitou Springs and the hiking trails, especially the unforgettable adventure at Garden of the Gods. We agree, there’s just something about the mountains that puts everything in perspective and makes the simple things even more magical. We can’t wait to welcome you and your crew back, whether it’s to conquer Pike’s Peak or just to enjoy another chill, welcoming stay. Your memories and kind words mean the world to us, and we’re so happy to have been part of such a memorable birthday trip. Until next time, take care and we look forward to seeing you again!

Although we have, over the years, enjoyed many events at the Buffalo Lodge (including our pre-wedding get together in the pavilion), this is our first official stay with Torie and her fabulous Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort. And we were thrilled with our stay!

Our cabin was comfortable and well equipped with an apartment-sized refrigerator and full stove/oven. The bed was comfortable and having a separate room with a couch and the TV was perfect. Access to a back yard was a bonus! We are cyclists so having our bikes secured was a must.

There is so much going on at the Buff! Live music, markets, bike rides and hikes. The atmosphere is very festive and inclusive. Having a bar on site is also a plus making it possible to have adventures all day then settle in for an evening without leaving the premises especially since there often are food trucks at the live entertainment nights.

One of the best things, though, is the location. To get on our bikes and quickly ride to Garden of the Gods or up Gold Camp Road without the hassle of driving, parking or dealing with crowds is priceless. Mike leads a great ride through GOG on Mondays and there’s also a hike available, all complimentary for guests.

We’ve had the pleasure of seeing the Buffalo Lodge evolve over the time we lived in Colorado Springs, and it has been impressive. Now that we’ve moved, it most definitely will be our go-to place to stay

The moment I arrived I knew booking here was a mistake. There were unsupervised children running everywhere as we pulled into the parking lot. As I tried to check in I had to wait while the clerk stood at the bar drinking. The clerk finally stumbled my way and informed me that on top of my reservation fee I would have to pay a deposit of $250 after telling me over the phone it would only be $50. This deposit was to be returned upon my checkout the following morning. It took 4 days for my deposit to be returned after multiple calls from me inquiring about my funds. After checking in and entering the room, I had to sweep the floor before I even felt comfortable letting my children walk in. The toilet would also not flush properly. Thank goodness they knew this and left a plunger in the room for us to use... After cleaning I decided to take a walk to calm down and observed the same drunk clerk hop in her vehicle and DRIVE away intoxicated. I was blown away at the unprofessionalism. The pillows were almost non existent and the breakfast was the same. I absolutely DO NOT recommend staying at this place.

Erica we were disheartened to read your review, as it does not align with the high standards of service and cleanliness we strive to maintain. After thoroughly investigating your claims, we can confidently say that much of what you've stated about our Staff is simply untrue. We first want to address the allegation regarding our valued employees. We have strict policies in place against drinking on shift and certainly do not condone any behavior that compromises the safety and well-being of our guests. Additionally, our team members are encouraged to utilize environmentally friendly modes of transportation, such as bicycles and walking... and our evening staff rode bicycles home that night. Your assertion regarding our deposit hold policy is misleading to our review readers. Our deposit hold policy is clearly communicated in writing to all guests upon booking, and there are no surprise "extra fees" at check-in. Any delays in the release of deposit holds are typically due to standard banking processing times. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Our housekeeping team members have been trained and have 2nd inspection systems in place to ensure the strict cleanliness standards of our historic cabins and rooms. If there were any issues with your accommodations, we sincerely apologize and would have appreciated the opportunity to address them promptly during your stay. As for the other concerns raised in your review, such as malfunctioning toilets and unsupervised children, we take such matters very seriously and would have appreciated immediate notification so that we could have taken appropriate action. Please know that we value feedback from our guests and use it to continuously improve our services and we aim for all 5 stars. However, it appears that your review may be a retaliation for our enforcement of hotel policies rather than an accurate reflection of your experience to share with our future guests. We regret that your vacation was not up to your expectations.

When you plan a vacation and visit the website of the lodging facility, ask yourself why you are not able to read or post reviews. When you visit their Facebook page and cannot post reviews, ask yourself why. The answer, because the room costs $179 per night with air conditioning issues (squealed all night so the General Manager brought a portable air conditioner that vented through the window), no ventilation in the bathroom resulting in a seriously moldy shower with a slimy floor and poorly regulated water pressure/temperature, a shortage of electrical outlets which the management has compensated by placing several power strips and then over loaded the power strips. This is a fire concern. Additionally, no linen service for your entire stay unless you chase down the lady changing a vacated room to exchange towels. No ice machine but you can ask for a small bag at the front desk. Avoid Room 149.

On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable; we were supplied the portable air conditioner vented though the window and a fan; and the location is close to attractions like the Garden of the Gods. Be sure to check out Rudy’s Country Store and have some BBQ and fixings and the Mason Jar have an awesome Cob Salad.

We checked out early, before the office opened, and emailed the Buffalo Lodge for a receipt for our stay. No acknowledgement . However, when I called, the lady promptly emailed the receipt.

This fun, historic Bicycle-themed motel was conveniently located near downtown Manitou Springs and Garden of the Gods. Check-in was smooth, and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. They sponsor guided bike rides and have live music and special events quite often. The rooms are in little 'casitias' kind of like little cabins. Room was cozy and very clean, and the bed was plush and comfortable. Nicely equipped with microwave, ample fridge, coffee machine with free coffee. Breakfast was delicious. The pool looked nice and clean also. I will definitely stay here again when in the area.

This place is amazing - probably our favorite place we have stayed in all our travels over the past 25 years. And nearby everything - we were a few minutes from downtown, 8 minutes from Cave of Winds, 15 minutes from The North Pole, 20 minutes from the zoo, etc - really good home base.

These folks jumped through hoops to make sure we had the best stay. First we had a slight mix up with our room type at check in--- they bent over backwards and fixed it immediately and we ended up in a better room. We had a suite with two bedrooms and living room. Right outside our door was a patio with live music, place for the kiddo to play, fire pits, seating, outside and inside bar, and a food truck that changed every night. The place is made to mingle - everyone come and gather from the music, the food, the pool, the little vendor markets they put on, the store, the breakfast, the patio, etc. The staff is SOOOOO nice and helpful - we love them.

We were really sad we had to leave. And already are planning our next trip to the area and there is no where else we would ever stay - see you soon Buffalo Lodge! Our next staycation will be here!

The place is kind of like it's own little village - with a central street that runs through it where you park on both sides. Fun string lighting makes for a cool atmosphere where you can stroll back to your room. The buildings are like little adobe cottages and look unique and old school. Our bed was super comfy, bunks were great for kid, and it had everything we needed.

Check this place out - if your into a fun atmosphere and good times with other cool people this is the place for you. Plus it's affordable - you get a suite for the price of a hotel room nearby.

stayed 5 nights while in town for the Pikes Peak Ascent + Marathon. I can't say enough about how awesome this hotel is. We've stayed in several other hotels/AirBNBs in Colorado Springs area over the years, but this hotel blows them all away. The staff is one of the friendliest groups of people you will ever meet. Live bands and food trucks on the weekend was a nice touch. I enjoyed a free yoga class during my stay. The room was very clean and updated. The location of this hotel is prime--downtown Manitou Springs and downtown Old Colorado City are walkable; as is Red Rock Open Space and Garden of the Gods. This will be my #1 go-to hotel moving forward.

Upon reviewing my credit card, I learned that the lodge charged 150$ extra because of “cleaning fees” from our stay. This was in addition to a mandatory 50$ deposit. We had a wonderful stay; however, I am very upset that I wasn’t notified of the charges from the hotel.

I called and asked why no one called to tell me and was told that they expected that I would call to check on the fee. I complained and asked that a manager call me……no one called.

Also, the representative that I spoke to on the phone was very rude. She shamed me because my daughter had a stomach bug and vomited in our room. She said,”you told us that it was a small issue when it was big.”

In fact I told them when I checked out that we had done everything that we could to clean up the room but needed some bleach spray.

I also told her that we would dispute the charge and she said, “good luck”. She shouldn’t be in customer service.

We won’t be back.

A 1 star review is not our normal guest experience and we have contacted this guest directly for this specific situation. For our review readers: It is not in our best interest to upset our valued guests but we do take bodily-fluid damage very seriously. Extra cleaning or closure of rooms is required when evidence of offensive aromas are present and need to be cleared before the next guest arrives. All towels, sheets and pillows had to be discarded in this case and this resulted in forfeiture of a portion of the guest's deposit. We make sure to communicate our damage policy at check-in. Our goal is a 5 star experience- and we do appreciate feedback that helps our Team. Customer Service is important and our current team is trained and dedicated to great customer service.

Hello all, just seeing this string. Sorry. We do have hair dryers available for use from the front desk, but the hotel we purchased in June didn't come with them in the rooms. We are working on improving amenities and renovations over the winter to include hairdryers in all of the rooms. We now have coffee pots in all of the rooms, but hope guests will continue to join us in the lodge for morning coffee before heading out. We also will make every effort to ensure a great stay for our guests so yes, if you need anything to make your stay better, please let us know.
