Despite this being an older ("vintage") motel, the rooms were spotless and comfy. We loved the outdoor concert at night with the food truck, and it was fun talking with the guys in the morning gathering for a bike ride. Good breakfast. Combing this with an eBike tour of the Garden of the Gods was perfect.
It felt a bit like a summer camp wedged between the city and the country. (But with air conditioning!) The teens in our party enjoyed trying out the various bicycles. The Garden of the Gods is just up the road so we went over to explore on our first night, no hassle or fuss just biked up the road. There also seems to be a horse stable next door that runs tours (wish I had done that). Did Theodore Roosevelt really stay there? Maybe not, but that gives you an idea of the historical/vintage feel of the place. Our room was updated and comfortable. The lodge was a nice home base for our activities in the area. With the pool, volleyball field, bikes, and other hangout areas, it would be a great location for a family reunion.
When you plan a vacation and visit the website of the lodging facility, ask yourself why you are not able to read or post reviews. When you visit their Facebook page and cannot post reviews, ask yourself why. The answer, because the room costs $179 per night with air conditioning issues (squealed all night so the General Manager brought a portable air conditioner that vented through the window), no ventilation in the bathroom resulting in a seriously moldy shower with a slimy floor and poorly regulated water pressure/temperature, a shortage of electrical outlets which the management has compensated by placing several power strips and then over loaded the power strips. This is a fire concern. Additionally, no linen service for your entire stay unless you chase down the lady changing a vacated room to exchange towels. No ice machine but you can ask for a small bag at the front desk. Avoid Room 149. On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable; we were supplied the portable air conditioner vented though the window and a fan; and the location is close to attractions like the Garden of the Gods. Be sure to check out Rudy’s Country Store and have some BBQ and fixings and the Mason Jar have an awesome Cob Salad. We checked out early, before the office opened, and emailed the Buffalo Lodge for a receipt for our stay. No acknowledgement . However, when I called, the lady promptly emailed the receipt.…
I stayed here for several days in June to explore the Colorado Springs area and I would definitely return. Comfortable bed and nice updated room. Parking just outside the room was convenient. Breakfast was OK, but could use some type of rotation in what's on offer but was otherwise good. Convenient location to all of the major sites that I was going to was a huge factor in choosing the location. only 5-10 minutes and you are exactly where you want to go. Don't overlook this gem!
We had a great experience at Buffalo Lodge, updated clean rooms, breakfast provided in the lobby every morning, clean pool, outdoor seating with fire pit, stable wifi, vollyball court, etc. We came back after a long day out with the family and they had BBQ dinner for guest and invited us to eat. I don't know the occasion or if this is a regular thing but it was very nice of them. There were many cars and families on vacation but there was always plenty of parking. Everyone staying there were like family and ready to make conversions. Most important, LOCATION! Buffalo Lodge was closing to all the attractions we came to see and was no more than 5 to 15 min drive away. Again I highly recommend staying here.
