Very nice campground close to all the things we wanted to do near Colorado Springs. Nice and friendly Owners and staff! Site was large enough for our motor home and truck. Had great Pizza too! Would recommend.
We stayed at this campground for a week. It's situated approximately 30 minutes from Colorado Springs and 30 minutes from Canon City. This worked out nicely for us as first time visitors to CO wanting to see Pikes Peak and the Royal Gorge. The campground is very well kept. We especially appreciated the pine trees and rock landscaping. All the other campgrounds we drove past in the area were flat and in complete sun. Mountaindale is definitely a good choice! It was very quiet and peaceful. We were also impressed with the bathrooms and laundry facility. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Seeing wildlife several times really made our trip memorable and special.
As soon as COVID lockdown was somewhat lifted I spent 5 heavenly days in a cabin here. So relaxed, so clean (now that we're all thinking about that!). I was able to bring my work computer and work from there with the excellent wi-fi. It's obvious the place is well taken care of. Everyone was friendly while socially distancing. It was a real tonic for my isolated soul. Went back to my home and thought "I can get through another couple of months of this!"
The setting for this campground is beautiful, with plentiful pine trees, a mountain backdrop, and spacious sites. The staff are incredibly helpful, and are constantly working to keep the place immaculate, from freshly graded roads, level gravel sites, and impeccable restrooms and laundry. Wifi was an added bonus, and we were able to watch Netflix on a rainy night with the free Roku that they provided. The location is convenient to many of Colorado’s most popular attractions, and we enjoyed quite a few with only 30-45 minute drives. For those with dogs, you will enjoy the on-site dog park. If you’re looking for a quiet, beautiful retreat that’s not too far off the beaten path, this is the place for you!
Great price for full-timers during winter months—rates go up exponentially in the summer. Quite a drive to town—about 25 min. Site was awesome—lots of space & privacy. Plenty of room to bike ride or hike up mountain. My kids always wanted to be outside. You can receive mail and they even have a tiny workout room. Their bathhouses & laundry do freeze in the winter—beware. Male employees were very helpful—women not so much. My kids loved an employee named Darren, who went out of his way to help when possible. When my door handle stopped working and we had to climb over front seat to enter RV, guys who work there fixed it for me. They also accommodated me when I wanted to change sites. However, there were quite a few incidents where my kids didn't feel so welcome (and they really are pretty well-behaved). I received a text once informing me my kids left the shower floors "wet," (they wanted us to go back and dry them) and another telling me they need to stop building stick forts (using sticks found on the ground—not from trees). Also beware, there is a shortage of water out there, and they totally freak if you have any kind of teeny tiny leak. You will receive a lecture and an option to either disconnect or replace immediately. Shocking to us being from an area where there is an abundance of water! Other than these things, it is a really nice place!…
