The tent houses of Teufelskrallen Lodge, situated on the first western Kalahari dune, offer their guests a panoramic view over the endless vastness and the sprawling Kalahari. The 6 fully-furnished and comfortably-equipped tents come with a large view deck and their own bathroom. Each bathroom is connected to the tent by a short wooden boardwalk. Reception, restaurant and swimming pool are located in the old farmhouse at a distance of 3km from the tent houses. During hikes and game drives (all starting from Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge), guests can experience the breathtaking beauty of the Kalahari with dunes that elevate up to 30 meters in an open off-road car and watch the spectacular animals and vegetation.

Lovely place to stay. Lovely luxury tents with a good view. Wonderful food and hospitality. The only reason it's not 5 stars is you can see the local town and its lights and hear traffic feintly on the B1 main road. An excellent stay, but not pure isolated bliss if that's what you're hoping for.

... but in fact we slept in a comfortable, well-furnished lodge with canvas "walls". Our 6-year old went on a camp bed but he had two long, wonderful nights so that must have been comfortable as well. The outside bathroom with a toilet looking out over the Kalahari really adds to the "great outdoors" experience. But the standout feature of this place is the gorgeous 360° view over the Kalahari, truly beautiful at every time of the day. We spotted springbok and an aardwolf from our balcony. Keep in mind temperatures in this area go from 5 to 30 degrees and back in winter, but Teufelskrallen provides good blankets to keep you warm. Showering in the morning is not such a good idea, however ;-) Dinner is a set menu but very tasty and plentiful, with a fine red house wine. The staff made no fuss about going easy on the spicy for our son. Teufelskrallen offers a great introduction to Namibia's Wide Open Space and peace and quiet, with lodges about 3 km of sandy road away from the reception area. We went on a beautiful guided sunrise walk starting from the nearby Red Dune lodge, where we spotted eland, wildebeest, zebras, ground squirrels and ostriches (among many species of bird). Make sure you go on one of these walks before leaving for the south!

We stayed here for one night on our way from Windhoek to Sesriem. Our tent was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. We loved sitting out on the balcony watching the sun set. Staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our dinner and breakfast at the main lodge.

We spend 2 nights at the lodge and had an absolute amazing time in the middle of the Kalahari desert surrounded by antelopes, giraffes and oryx, the only inconvenience is that the restaurant is 3km away from the bungalow so you have to go back and forth from your bungalow to the main restaurant for food, internet and swimming pool the res was perfect, the service was top notch. We’d recommend this place highly.

We stayed here on our first night in Namibia which was a great alternative to "wasting" a night in WIndhoek. It was a great little introduction to Namibia and to travelling in the Desert. The tents had everything we needed, and the outside bathroom provided a point of difference. The view over the plains in front the tent was spectacular and a great place for a sundowner. The main reception area had a homely feel and so did the cooking. The outdoor area and firepit was a nice little spot to sit after dinner and relax, even if we were the only ones who did so! The only thing we found slightly annoying was the drive from reception to the tents, (they were another entrance a few K's down the road, but since we were only staying one night this wasn't too much of a hassle. Unfortunately we didn't have time to do any of the activities.
