Very hands on staff and good teachers when it comes to horse riding, trips organised off the ranch to take in local sites like the Continental divide ... the food and accommodation were outstanding and hope to go again
This was our sixth visit to Elk Mountain Ranch - our first was back in 2003 - and we are already booked in for our seventh. Not surprisingly, we would describe it as our absolute favourite holiday destination. The owners, Tom and Sue, have created a warm and welcoming “home from home” ambience that simply cannot be beaten. The cabins are a cosy haven, the food delicious and the staff a cheerful and hard working crew who go out of their way to ensure every visitor has a great time. For us as riders it is the horses who take priority. Tom’s herd are beautifully cared for and are sensible, responsive and willing rides. This isn’t galloping flat out territory - the terrain can be challenging at 9,600ft up in Tne Rocky Mountains. But there are opportunities for some lovely canters and every ride guarantees views that will simply take your breath away. We have been back a week and are already suffering from Tne After Elk Mountain Blues. Roll on 2021!…
We spent a week at the ranch with our 3 grown up sons, they had never ridden before but by the end of the week we were all cantering. We were particularly impressed with the horses who were responsive and very well looked after and the rides were varied with stunning scenery. Tom, Sue and all the staff were so welcoming - it's like being part of a big family in a very relaxed environment. We had such fun with all the wranglers (all lovely young people), one of best family holidays we've ever had. With 3 boys food features highly and every meal was a delight. Other than riding there are lots of other activities and we enjoyed the fishing, rafting & square dancing. Highly recommend.
We spent an "adult only week" at the ranch, and what a terrific time we had. Amazing scenery, a different ride every day on well trained horses, comfortable accommodation and delicious food! All enhanced by excellent staff and a great group of fellow guests. Tom and Sue have everything down pat and have our highest recommendation.
The owners, Tom and Sue, the staff, the horses, the food, the scenery,,,absolutely awesome! What a great place to disconnect and enjoy the beauty of the West with overflowing hospitality! We would recommend this place to anyone,,especially the adult week for us grown up kids!! Great entertainment in the evenings , whether sitting outside, enjoying walking with the animals , listening to some great performers,,,or dancing our boots off to square dancing!
