This resort has a breathtaking view of Mount Quandry directly to the West. The morning sunrise hits the mountain first while the lodge is still in the dark. It offers a great hiking trail up the mountain right across the highway! The resort, while being older, is well maintained and the condos are well furnished. The resort has a restaurant on site that has a diverse menu nd is reasonably priced. The heated saltwater indoor swimming pool if well maintained and large enough to allow children to play and adults to swim. When we were there the indoor hot tub and been closed and they were in the process of building one outdoors. We have stayed there three different weeks, usually in October and have always been impressed with the staff and their availability and willingness to mee our needs.
The resort is about a ten-minute drive from Breckenridge proper and, during the ski season, there is a shuttle that runs into town and the ski slopes. We will definitely go back!

We agree with your comments about the spectacular view - it is pretty awesome! Thank you for your appreciation of our unique property. As a former sportsman's lodge our guests love the cozy rustic atmosphere and the ability to stay, play and dine with us without having to drive to Breck. Thanks for your beautiful review and we look forward to your return.

We spent a week in the Lodge. The staff were welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived. The condo was comfortable, well-taken care of, and complete with needed supplies for kitchen and bath. The view of the Colorado Rockies was breathtaking each day. It was a short drive into Breckenridge, and we ventured to town each day. We easily prepared two meals a day in the condo, and we ate the third at an area restaurant. We used the indoor salt water pool, played ping pong, and went to the restaurant/bar for appetizers and drinks. We also bought snacks in the lobby. The lobby seating area and the restaurant/bar had nice fireplaces that kept the atmosphere cozy and warm. It did not matter what questions we had about the area, the staff were able to assist us. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely return again.

Our 20-year-old son decided to head to Breck a few weeks before we'd all go skiing. It was a bit late to find a reasonably-priced place in town so we found the Lodge by the Blue. A terrific alternative if you can live with the (free) bus schedule or have your own car. The front desk team was wonderful and very helpful in scheduling his stay. He enjoyed the suite and was able to cook some meals for himself. Definitely recommend.

This marks the second and last time I will be staying here. The property is extremely underwhelming, the location is inconvenient, the amenities are next to none, and the cleanliness of our unit was sketchy at best. Not to mention, the customer service leaves lots of room for improvement. They are very clear about check in being at 4:00 pm with absolutely no exceptions made for those who may need an earlier time. They are also very clear about the fact that the staff leaves at 5:00 pm. And even though the posted signage states 6:00 pm on Fridays, there was no staff in sight after 5:00. All of this would have been fine, had they had my accommodations ready at 4:00. Given the tight window to interact with someone at the front desk, I was very disappointed when they did not have my room ready for check in at 4:00. I arrived at 4:30 and was told that my room wasn’t done being cleaned. No apologies for the inconvenience. This would have even been forgivable had my room actually been cleaned! However, once we were checked into the unit, we found hair everywhere, the sink was disgusting, and the “white” sheets on the beds were visibly dirty. It looked like they just made the bed without changing any of the linens. Completely unacceptable. I would have loved to share this with the front desk and possibly get fresh linens, except they were all gone at 5:00. With the exception of check in, I have never seen anyone actually work at the front desk. EVER. Not when we need something, not when something is wrong with the unit, not when we call (even during business hours). Not at all. Furthermore, hearing other guests running up and down the hallways is the furthest from relaxing mountain getaway that I’ve ever experienced. There are signs posted: “No running in the hallways”; but with no one actually on premises to enforce this, there’s zero chance of that happening. This place is not worth the time it takes to get there and that’s being generous. You will be driving distance to the ski resorts, that is true. But if you’re thinking you’re staying in the best parts of Breckenridge, you are sadly mistaken. If there is snow on the ground, or it’s dark while you’re traveling (which happens around 4:30 in the winter), getting here is a nightmare. Save your money and stay some place better.

The entire kitchen had to be cleaned as it was filthy. The dishes had to be washed before they could be used because they had dried food on them. Carpets were filthy, beds are worn out along with pillows. We had to go buy new pillows so we could sleep. Asked to move rooms and was told there was no way with the place half full. Can't check in until 4:00 so there were 6 people all checking in at the same time. Could stagger check in every half hour. When someone walked through the hallways it woke up the entire building due to the floor moving in the room.

Very basic 1 bedroom unit. Kitchen is warm because of refrigerator operation. Plug ins not enough in bedroom bought a power strip at City Market also extension cord to put the fan by the window to circulate cool air through out. You start with 1 roll of toilet paper then you’re responsible to get more.
It is a “self checkin” property if you got this reservation through Destination Exchange as a HGV/Max owner CALL property directly to get your lock numbers! The email confirmation doesn’t include. Global connections calls the day before arrival for conformation & codes.
Definitely NOT worth 10K of points!
Be prepared for steps to get to room!

We stayed at the Lodge by the Blue towards the end of April, and had such a peaceful stay. If there were others staying the Lodge we barely saw them. Construction was happening as well, we were never disturbed by that. Check in was breeze along with a few suggestions of places to see, and where towels were located for the pool. Our condo had one room with two beds, and a pull out sofa for extra sleeping. We were here all week, so we tried them all! I do prefer a softer mattress then what we had but that could be a personal preference. The kitchen had all dishes, pot and pans that we would need – we even made brownies :-) Towels were provided, changed mid stay and also available by asking for a swap. The pool was wonderful! It was perfectly warm, the view of the mountain while floating inside watching the snow fall was spectacular. Also facing the same view was a large patio with a grill we were hoping to use and didn’t find the time. Inside there were two large fireplaces to enjoy hot chocolate in front of. A computer area with internet use which we printed our boarding passes from. A fun discovery was a hutch with games, books, and dvds available to borrow. Check out was a sad day, we didn’t want to leave! Jennifer was kind enough to call and offer help with our bags, and gave us a big hug goodbye - it felt like we were leaving family. Can’t wait to visit again!

We spent four days and I was very impressed with the staff. Like all the other reviews agree - the staff really go out of their way to connect. The room and amenities are nice. The hot tub has a great view of Mt. Quandry. (I'd like to see an earlier opening time than 10 as I love to start out the day with a hot tub). Just across the road is an excellent hiking trail. I'm sure there are many other trails close but that one was very convenient.

I loved loved loved my stay here. My family had two cabins on the 3rd floor and they were very clean and comfortable. The scenery was breathtaking & the staff just added to the entire stay. I dare say we became very attached to both managers, Jennifer & Valentin (not sure of his name spelling). Also, Nick was a huge help making fires and just being so kind and friendly. Both Nick and Valentin helped to go fix my bicycle when my break line slipped off. I was so grateful!

The pool is very nice and so is the hot tub! I highly recommend this as a vacation spot! We happened to go in the summer but the little town of Breckenridge is not far and looks perfect for winter activities and I've heard the slopes are very family friendly. Perfect view and wonderful experience!

We LOVED having you all here. We are grateful that you enjoyed your stay with us. We hope that you do come back in winter! There are so many fun activities going on in the historic downtown Breckenridge area and of course, we'll have to get you up to the mountain for skiing. The two fire places in our lobbies will keep you warm and cozy when you get back. Thank you, again. Jennifer, Valentin, Nick and our whole staff

The mountain behind the Lodge is called Red Mountain, and of course the mountain in front of the lodge is Mt Quandary. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your question! There is a shuttle but the hours are limited. Our advice would be to rent a car so you are free to visit area sites, bars and restaurants at your convenience. See you next December.
