Mountain View, Great View
NUMBER OF ROOMS
We were fortunate to book our first Colorado ski trip with the Ritz Carlton and we had an incredible experience. As with our other Ritz experiences, the staff are consistently friendly and helpful which is not something to take for granted. The hotel is beautiful and under the leadership of Kayla Sorochak in the Lounge, we were at ease and comforted the entire stay. I will give one point of important advice, you will be at a high elevation while staying at this hotel and talk to friends or even medical professionals before leaving to prepare for a high-elevation stay before taking a vacation well over a mile high!
Let’s do good news then bad news. The hotel has a lot of energy. Great Apres Ski vibe. Very convenient ski in and ski out. Doesn’t get much easier and convenient. We had 2 really good servers during our stay. Bayle from the sushi restaurant and Travis Clemons from the outside bar. Interaction with sushi bar manager was not very welcoming. We also ordered from the grill one night and they won’t deliver it to the room. So when we went down to pick it up it had been sitting there for about 10 minutes they said. No one called to tell us. And they charged a $100 tip for doing what? It wasn’t to tell us our food was ready or to walk it to our room. There were several of us so we had several different rooms. The penthouse had food all moldy and expired that took up majority of the fridge. There were towels in the wash machine still all crusted up. One of the rooms were handicapped and they never asked us if that would be okay if they placed us in one of those rooms. So the bathroom and shower were majorly lacking. The lobby is also very very hot. I think we will be back but hope to have a better room experience. …
Having stayed at the Ritz in Bachelor Gulch many times over a 15 year period, I have seen it change and update over time. It has always been the premier property in Beaver Creek albeit not attached to BC village. If you don't mind skiing over to the village, or taking the free shuttles, its great. Especially when you are not with young kids. It is a fantastic hotel with great service and amenities. But the best part is that Bachelor Gulch is yours. It is the least populated area in the valley so you have a substantial number of trails to yourself without a hoard of people. The big draw is that every afternoon the fire pit features the music of Rob Ingman and the newly improved bar and lounge area in the back is fantastic. The drinks are great (don't look at the prices) and the staff is very friendly. They have low turnover which means that you will have the same staff over many seasons. The rooms are comfortable and the food is good. I have not yet tried the new sushi restaurant that was being completed and installed where the cigar bar had been. I do miss Spago but Wyld is good. If you can swing it, the Ritz at BC is the best place to stay for a great ski vacation.…
The staff and service are the real standouts here. Yes the skiing is first class, yes the food and drinks are good and yes, the lodge vibe is classic Colorado. However beyond these expectations, the ladies and gentlemen of the Ritz Carlton are what take a more standard luxury hotel experience and elevate it to a true five star stay. It was this personal attention morning noon and night that made me overlook some potential negatives like how crowded the common areas and the Club lounge were, and how many poorly behaved children were running around while their parents engaged with other more pressing matters at the bar or on their phone screens. I would suggest if you want a more serene experience to come during the middle of the week on a non-holiday weekend to better enjoy the slopes and the après scene without so much chaos, something I’m already planning to do myself next year. …
We came here last year and it was so much better this time. 1. The valet situation is infinitely better and timely with the new text system. 2. Massive new huge TVs are fantastic. 3. Room aesthetics are getting a bit dated. 4. Ski Valets were fantastic. 5. Seeing a real wolf was our highlight. 6. Our room was not ready until 5 PM but the front desk made it right and made us happy. 7. I was you could reserve couches in the main room. 8. I had no idea there was a new asian restaurant until our last night. 9. Wyld needs to go. I would put a great Asian restaurant there, it would kill it. 10. The massage was below average for Colorado standards. We loved our stay.
