What a lovely place to stay! We had such a nice time at Elk Point Lodge #6. It worked out great for my husband and I and our 2 golden retrievers. I think we had the best view, with the river on one side and the lake on the other. It was very quiet and peaceful and a needed relief from the heat. The dogs enjoyed swimming in the lake, and so did my husband. And we took advantage of the kayaks and the e bikes as well. There were several hiking trails nearby, and we enjoyed the nice walks from our cabin each day. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Thank you Elk Point Lodge for a wonderful summer vacation!
We stayed at Elk Point for a family vacation, renting out all of the cabins (highly recommend doing this). The most memorable part of this location is the stunning lake views and river view from many of the cabins. Everyone could not stop talking about how amazing the weather was and how beautiful it was. We had a wide range of ages from 2 to 70s and we all had plenty to do, including horse back riding, renting a boat from the nearby marina, swimming in the lake, using the e bikes and paddle boards/kayaks available on property and going into Durango for the hot springs and restaurants. There is a little playscape for the smallest ones and a lodge with a pool table and train set for rainy days. We mentioned to the managers that we wanted to use the fire pit and they brought down firewood and some water and a shovel to put the fire out when we were done. We were truly sad to leave.…
Cute small rustic cabins right on the lake. They are packed with extras, big plus is having plenty of towels and toiletries! Grills, game room, water toys and friendly camp hosts. Parking is tight, be aware if you are pulling a boat or trailer
We loved our long weekend at Elk Point Lodge. The accommodations are comfortable and quite. This lodge is off a packed dirt road and easily accessible. The hosts, Molly & Chis were very welcoming and pleasant. They made sure we had everything we needed. Very impressed!
I have spent time in most of the cabins at Elk Point Lodge and love them all. This year I was in Hummingbird which is the most upscale cabin they have --including a hot tub. This is a beautiful simple quiet place that offers its guest real relaxation and a break from COVID stress! I had been coming to Elk Point before it changed owners, and while I missed the former owner a lot, the new managers are wonderful, and attentive to the needs of the guests. I highly recommend this special oasis in nature in friendly comfortable surroundings, and you can bring your well behaved dog!
Absolutely LOVE this place. Nature Rx at its finest. Great staff, great atmosphere... Near by dining establishments was also very welcoming and great portions... Will be making this my yearly getaway.
Elk Point Lodge and Cabins was a lovely place for my family (2 kids, 9 and 13) to stay for four nights this summer. The lake is fun, the cabins are clean and quiet, and the owner Lark and her family and staff were friendly and pleasant. Cabins are simple but adequately stocked--- someone else said something like "luxurious where they need to be and rustic where they can be," which is well observed. Our hot water was very quick and good, our kitchen small but fine for the four of us for five days, our beds comfy enough, and the available kayaks and paddle boards worn but usable and fun. Both my spouse and I and our middle schooler had various online meetings for work and school we had to attend during the week while we staying (we were trying to squeeze one last trip away from the house out of the close of the summer), and Lark worked with us to ensure the wifi signal to our cabin (#7) was boosted as much as possible. It allowed us to mostly connect to Zoom meetings and other online communications (best connectivity was on our newer devices and in the bedroom closest to the repeater, which is on the frame of the main barn). This made it possible for us to stay on the attractive grounds and avoid having to work in town at a coffeeshop. While any one of us conducted work/school, the rest of us could go down to the rocky beach, swim, hike, watch the deer in the scrub oak thickets below our deck, etc. All in all, a very good place for some family R&R.…
We have been going to Elk Point Lodge for several years. This is the most relaxing beautiful place. Lark always treats us so well. I love the views from our cabin. My husband loves the fishing. I could sit and enjoy the Views and cool air all day long. We loved cabin #1. Very clean and just perfect for us.
Clean, well-stocked, cozy cabins with beautiful views of Vallecito Lake. Cabins are close to the water and the area is quiet. Cabin #4 is spacious and a short walk to the lake. Hummingbird House was awesome. We spent time in the hot tub watching the stars and rocking in chairs on the deck. Both cabins had TVs that worked fine, but sitting on the deck looking at the lake was better entertainment. Lark, the owner, was great, very accommodating, and personable. Ethan was attentive and helpful. Can’t wait to go back!
Arrived late at about 7 pm for a 3 night stay greeted by the not so kind owner Lark. We were excited to be there so we got our stuff unloaded and went to the lake since we had very little day light left. We arrived back to the lodge to start making dinner when we noticed several mouse droppings throughout the kitchen of our lodge. A minimum of 30 separate droppings on the countertops windowsill and all over the floor next to the walls. We were already displeased with the customer service upon arrival and we’re wondering what we should do since at that point we had only been there for two hours. Then a mouse went running by from the stove to the refrigerator that’s when we decided it was time to bring this to the attention of the owners since we were paying $230 a night for us plus our dog which seemed to be an issue from the second we arrived (we had disclosed it to lark and it was listed as pet friendly ). Upon bringing this to the attention of lark she said this is the mountains you know and then finished her sentence with MAYBE YOU SHOULD JUST LEAVE. I responded kindly this cannot be the solution I then asked her if she had a couple of mouse traps and some peanut butter and I would be happy to catch the mice. That’s when she replied again MAYBE YOU SHOULD JUST LEAVE. At this point I did not know what else to say so we packed up our stuff and left the lodge at 10:45 PM only having been there for a little over 3 1/2 hours. I am a small business owner I own a plumbing company and I would never treat anybody customer or person off the street the way I felt we were treated. Colorado is an extremely beautiful state I would not waste my time or money at the elk point lodge at vallecito lake…
