Situated at the north end of this culinary mecca, North Block is a perfect destination for food and wine connoisseurs: a short stroll to top Michelin starred restaurants and small production wine tasting rooms. A mix of old world charm and modernity, North Block Hotel is designed for an unpretentious wine country escape. The stone facade and welcoming entrance are lined with lush gardens, hand-painted tiles and softly lit lanterns. The guest rooms are well-appointed and sophisticated with modern touches like luxurious linens, flat screen televisions, wi-fi and iPod entertainment docking stations. Can not say enough amazing things about this hotel. The staff was more than accommodating and made us feel so welcomed and kept our wine glasses full!!! Shout out to Daniel Lopez who was awesome!!!! The location is perfect! Such a lovely town to explode all within walking distance. Complimentary breakfast was also a nice touch.

We stayed at the North Block Hotel for a long weekend recently, with another couple in an adjacent room. We all agreed that the rooms were very well appointed and that everything worked well. The rooms were tasteful and thoughtfully arranged, and everything worked perfectly. Only one complaint: for a hotel that charges approximately $1,000 per night and aspires to be considered a 4 or 5 star hotel, the breakfast offerings were meager (to be generous) or cheap (to be more accurate). Every day, it was the same 5 offerings, including quishe, a hard boiled egg, a danish, and english muffins or bread. There was no fruit of any kind, no breakfast cereal or granola, and not even any orange juice. ("We ran out of orange juice, " we were told on our first day, and they still had no orange juice 4 days later.) We even had to ask for water. We actually stayed at a Fairmont Hotel a couple weeks ago, and their breakfast offerings were at least 5 times more fulsome. And they only charged $250 per night. Step up your game, North Block!

Dear SteveB9307, We're so glad you found our rooms thoughtfully appointed and in good order and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We are grateful for all feedback we receive, so thank you for letting us know where we can improve with the continental breakfast offerings and service. Being out of the basics is not acceptable and I'm sure a frustrating experience, especially when staying several days. It's through thoughtful feedback that we can recognize shortcomings and take action to improve. Should your travels bring you back to Yountville, it would be my pleasure to help make your arrangements. Kind regards, Hillery

Easy parking and easy entrance to rooms because it's a smaller boutique hotel. The staff is simply wonderful and are willing to help with dinner reservations and just want to make your stay a good experience. Good coffee in room and lobby and breakfast included. We could walk the entire town from this location. The bed is incredibly comfortable and the room was comfortable for two people with all our luggage from a road trip. Top quality products in bathroom with tub and shower and private toilet room. It was just perfect for us!

This is not inexpensive. It’s not even moderate. It is expensive and worth it. The rooms are amazing, the staff incredibly accommodating, and food out of this world. The marketing material bills this hotel as one of the top hotels in California - a tall order, and it lives up to it. Every staff member was super accommodating. The reason you go to Yountville in the first place - the food and wine - did not disappoint. The restaurant on site was fantastic. Beyond the service and food, the location and layout come to mind. The rooms are arrayed around a central narrow courtyard with a fountain or maybe two. Even thought you are right on the main drag in Yountvile, the cloistered accommodations instil the feeling of a quieter place. The room we stayed in had a fireplace and balcony. It was on the second floor which helped us burn off the thousands of calories we consumed while in Yountville by climbing the steps up. We chose Christmas time for our trip - it was raining the entire time. I can only imagine how amazing this place would be when you could enjoy the outdoor amenities.

Awesome hotel. Great environment in a great little town with beautiful surroundings. Plenty of free coffee and espresso, great daily free breakfast. Really gives a small chalet feel. Walkable to I credible restaurants. The only downside is the cost, but it’s comparable to other area hotels which are all really pricey, and it delivers. Would stay here again anytime.

The reviews are spot on, North Block is a great boutique property for a Yountville / Napa trip. Location is on the north end of the town, next to RH and other restaurants, but easily walkable to the more central part of Yountville. The style of the property and rooms, the decor, and courtyard layout are warm and comfortable. It's not sterile modern, but a different inviting feeling. The room is good size, large bathroom with a nice shower, plus a small backyard patio. Check in was simple and there was some complimentary wine at night. We got a complimentary bottle of the local champagne too. We didn't get a chance to try the restaurant or the pool this trip. They are also accommodating to kids, our 5 year old stayed with us and behaved well. Overall, a great location within Yountville and central to the wider Napa, we enjoyed the stay and look forward to our next trip.

My wife, daughter and I stayed three nights at the North Block Hotel in late March, as part of a weekend wine trip. This was our first visit to Napa Valley, and we really enjoyed our stay. The most obvious and appealing aspect to this property is its location in Yountville. It has quick access to the highway, and free parking is provided. If you plan to eat at any of the revered restaurants in the area, this hotel is perfectly situated within short walking distances. What I’ll remember most about the hotel is the beautiful, cozy courtyard around which the rooms are situated. It was just so damn pleasant that we found ourselves hanging out with cocktails or wine each night. The restaurant/bar is quite popular, too! My wife and daughter LOVED the quality of the towels, bed linens and high-quality bath amenities. "Best towel ever” was mentioned a few times during our stay, which reflects the quality of North Block. The staff here was friendly, helpful, and engaging, far above the norm. I was always impressed how happy they seemed, even early in the morning when I went for some of the delicious, free coffee that is in the lobby. We have nothing negative to say about our stay or the property, but we did start to tire of the complimentary, elevated continental breakfast. It was basically the same offerings each day, and heavily focused on breads. We might opt for a nearby breakfast option during our next stay. Loved the property. Highly recommended!

Dear Jacobson Family, Thank you for the lovely and thoughtful review, it reads like a professional travel blog and I loved reading it and sharing it with the team! I'm so glad you enjoyed the courtyard, it really does feel like a little private community space and I'm always happy when I see people relaxing there as it was intended. We take a lot of pride in providing quality linen and bath amenities, we love to spoil our guests. I pinch myself daily because the team is REALLY that happy, such a wonderful group of people that enjoy our guests and truly aim to delight-thank you for the kind mention. Feedback is key to becoming even better, I sincerely appreciate the note about the breakfast offerings. We have recently resurrected that program after a long pause with Covid protocols and it's ever-evolving. You'll be pleased to know we will be adding in some more offerings soon. We hope to see you again soon! Cheers, Hillery

We wanted a night In Yountville during our recent Napa visit and chose North Block. It was a really great property with a great location and very clean, comfortable rooms. It’s higher in price (as are most hotels in the area) but I didn’t feel cheated as it was definitely an upscale property. Would recommend to anyone and look forward to returning!

My husband and I love Yountville and decided to send my mom and dad there for a trip for my mom’s 70th birthday. After reading reviews of the hotels, North Block seemed to check all the boxes. I called earlier today to discuss credit card logistics and to see what I could arrange to make their welcome a little more special. I spoke with a gentleman named Carter who absolutely went above and beyond any of my expectations. I will preface this by saying I do tend to have higher expectations when I pay a premium for something, like lodging. I can completely admit that I may scrutinize more than the average guest (but while always remaining respectful! I’m not a “Karen”, I promise :-) ). When I first spoke to Carter, he immediately pulled up the reservation and asked about the nature of their stay. I explained that this is for my mom’s landmark birthday. Before I could even ASK for some little extra special touches, the entire reason I called, he was already telling me what the hotel was going to do welcome them. I was really floored. He first asked my parents’ wine preference (so there could be a bottle waiting in their room) and then asked what I’d like the card to say that would accompany the bottle. He then ALSO said not to worry- there would be a personalized welcome in the lobby with a glass of something delicious as well. Above and beyond. Finally, I did ask if there was any way to include some “nibbles” in the room to accompany the wine, while telling him that he could charge my card for whatever the cost would be. He then says they can include some nuts (from a local farm) and chocolate (from a local chocolatier). Perfect! He tells me that so long as my husband I come to stay with them the next time we’re in Yountville, that these goodies would be complimentary :-) I just cannot say enough good things about the customer service I encountered with Carter. Even aside from the arrangement of such a special welcome for my parents, he was attentive, well-informed, patient, and extremely kind in his demeanor. I don’t want to sound cliche, but he made me feel like I was a VIP client. North Block will definitely be the next place we stay when we visit Yountville.
