It was a 5 star experience from the moment we booked till the day we left! They were helpful with the many questions we had leading up to our trip, planning outings/excursions, and recommending places to eat. They were super fast to respond and just such amazing people; we

The place is excellent, the staff is the best but the menu is quite limited, 6 options of food, fish, chicken and pasta. We ordered for 7 people and the food came disordered, some dishes were cold and the overall quality is not good. The only negative is the food. The place

Ometepe island & our stay at the Xalli hotel was one of the highlights of our recent road trip across Nicaragua. The staff was very helpful and we especially appreciated the guidance from Noldan, who helped us arrange everything from a tour and our return ferry reservation. The

Trip advisor sent this question to me asking if I can answer. My husband and I stayed at Hotel Xalli in February 2018. I don't know why they thought we could answer this for you since we were just guests. While I have no idea if the hotel is opened or closed what I can tell you is that they were usually very quick to respond to the many emails that I sent.

I'd contact the hotel directly. You can find their email by googling. (I tried to post their email address, but TripAdvisor wouldn't let me. Apparently it's against their rules.) We loved our stay there -- hope you get to enjoy it's wonderfulness, too!

Hello Lara, the information you have is correcto. I highly recommend you check constantly with the ferry hours since we are expecting rough weather specially very windy that might interrupt the transportation to the Island. Once you're in the Island and take the bus to Santo Domingo you don't need to worry because the bus will pass very near by the hotel. You can ask the bus driver to let you when you're near the hotel.

San Jose to Xalli with a taxi arranged by the hotel this summer was $15 USD. Mayagalpa was $20 USD. Breakfast was big and included, but I don't really remember their other meal prices--probably other cheaper places, but we never bothered to explore. Heard rumors of another spot about a 10 minute walk left up the beach. Their menu link doesn't seem to be working at the moment. Again, we took an arranged tour which probably isn't the cheapest transportation but we're old, and we enjoyed. I think they will rent you bicycles cheap, and I know they will call you a cab. They're just remote from the basic cities on the island, and there didn't seem to be any bus system. Dirt roads, so most "taxis" were 4-wheel drive SUVs. You can probably guestimate to places based on the rates I quoted above to the ports. If you've already decided to stay there (or maybe even if not) you might ask them directly on island prices; they were friendly enough, responsive to emails and wrote/spoke English well. They made our taxi and boat arrangements for us all the way from Granada and then from Xalli to Managua so they can handle anything. So, like I said, try emailing them directly.
