As was to be expected getting to this hotel was a journey in it’s self. The boat trip was very pleasant and the drive from the port to the hotel was very interesting allowing you to take in the subtle differences from the mainland.
Very clean and the Staff was amazing Carlos and his group were very friendly and helpful. Make sure you hire Nolan for any tours. The owner made sure she knew our names and welcomed us to the Hotel.. Very clean and comfortable. Would recommend Xalli...More
Carlos and his team really care for their guests, always friendly and there to help with information, tours or any other organizational matters. The homemade food is delicious (bread, jam, cheese). Overall it’s a great choice when staying on Ometepe.

We loved this small hotel. Our room felt private even though we shared a porch with the bungalow/room next door. It was spotless and the air-conditoner worked well. The shower had plenty of hot water. Our porch had a hammock and several chairs. We sampled...More

Once you're in the Island and take the bus to Santo Domingo you don't need to worry because the bus will pass very near by the hotel. You can ask the bus driver to let you when you're near the hotel.

San Jose to Xalli with a taxi arranged by the hotel this summer was $15 USD. Mayagalpa was $20 USD. Breakfast was big and included, but I don't really remember their other meal prices--probably other cheaper places, but we never bothered to explore. Heard rumors of another spot about a 10 minute walk left up the beach. Their menu link doesn't seem to be working at the moment. Again, we took an arranged tour which probably isn't the cheapest transportation but we're old, and we enjoyed. I think they will rent you bicycles cheap, and I know they will call you a cab. They're just remote from the basic cities on the island, and there didn't seem to be any bus system. Dirt roads, so most "taxis" were 4-wheel drive SUVs. You can probably guestimate to places based on the rates I quoted above to the ports. If you've already decided to stay there (or maybe even if not) you might ask them directly on island prices; they were friendly enough, responsive to emails and wrote/spoke English well. They made our taxi and boat arrangements for us all the way from Granada and then from Xalli to Managua so they can handle anything. So, like I said, try emailing them directly.
