I had been searching for a wellness retreat for the past year, but was limited by the pandemic. I had also been eyeballing the Canyon Ranch in AZ for some time, so I was pleasantly surprised to find a new retreat location in Woodside in the Bay Area. I booked a personal discovery package and it was amazing! The resort was new and beautiful, located in the middle of gorgeous redwoods. I stayed in one of the treehouses and woke up to sun rays peeking in between trees. The service was impeccable. Everyone was so friendly and called you by name. They also went out of their way to help. For example, I always wake up late and ran late to join the hike on two separate mornings. They were able to rush order and pack me to-go breakfasts and even ran out to the hiking group to have them wait for me (thanks Grace and Shaun!). The food was also fresh and delicious! Chef Isabelle sources all her ingredients locally and come up with expansive menus that you can pick and choose from. There were definitely some meals where I told them I wanted everything! (They give you smaller portions of everything on the same plate, so it was not as gluttonous as that sounds.) I enjoyed the activities - daily hikes with Tim who was a fountain of nature knowledge and daily yoga/meditation with Jennifer who was so sweet and supportive. I also attended the majority of their small group sessions. I especially benefitted from the ones on gratitude and forgiveness. The special event session with Thomas Fogarty winery was also fun. Because I was at Canyon Ranch, I also made sure to get a facial and massage. These were just okay. I get these regularly, so maybe my expectations are higher. Overall, I loved my stay at Canyon Ranch Woodside. The resort was gorgeous and the service was impeccable! Since I live in the Bay Area, I will surely return!

I just returned from my second trip to this property. I first went when they had just opened in 2019 and it has much improved. Every staff person was kind and went out of their way to make my long weekend getaway a wonderful experience. I stayed in a treehouse, which I loved, where I watched the full moon each night and woke to the redwoods each morning. I can't say enough about the delicious food, the amazing massages and facials, and all the people who helped me on my healthy path. I felt very safe there, in the time of COVID, and will return there at least once per year.

A very unique and cool experience. One of our favorite family shows is Treehouse Masters and it was awesome to experience that type of environment in a 5-star luxury retreat. It was very relaxing just simply sitting on our Treehouse deck enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The entire staff was very accommodating to any of our requests and we sensed they really cared how our stay was going.

It’s a different concept than the original Tucson location which I wasn’t expecting. The spa is co-Ed and very small space and limited services. Woodside is more of a communal concept and yoga, meditation and hiking. The gym is quite small but has all you need. The room I stayed in was like a treehouse. Floor to (high) ceiling windows so lots of natural light and trees to wake to. There are no shades should you want to sleep in, and again, that’s the concept of getting in touch with our natural biorhythms and circadian rhythms. It helped me to reset my rhythm in a positive way. The rooms are spacious and beds very comfortable. My only complaint is the limited food options. Understandable being they only opened a month prior. The chef welcomed feedback. One particular night it was excellent. I just don’t like meat that sits too long under a lamp because it dries out. I hope the buffet style works out. It does at the Tucson location but they also offer fresh to order menu items and greater variety. But this location is smaller and a bit trickier. I’d return but I’ll give it some time. Great overall experience!

There were many problems with our stay at Woodside. They are operating on a "soft" opening, which is not communicated to guests. The prices also do not reflect that. Be aware that they do not have shades on the windows in the rooms. They do face masks available, but many found this to be a problem. Also, know that all 3 meals are buffet. I would have enjoyed a menu for dinner. And because they try and source everything from a 30 mile radius, choices are very limited in January. Also, if you get a massage request NOT to be in the room below the kitchen. It is VERY loud in that room. There are no safes or washing facilities at this time. Woodside is a beautiful property. In the end, due to our many issues,Canyon Ranch issued a 2 night stay in the future. I appreciate this gesture very much. However, I still felt the need to leave this review.I would have waited a while to go if I had known. The equine therapy was a delight, as well as the winery tour. For best service, fine Bre. The trainers were all lovely, especially David and Gianna-don't miss a class with her for sure! They have so much potential, but are still experiencing growing pains!
