This must have been a nice park at one time, but in my opinion, not anymore! The kids may love it for the small water features and pool, but it’s now pretty shabby elsewhere. It’s all worn gravel, dry and dusty! The campsites are in poor shape from the woodwork to the dead brown grass which is full of burrs. The further back you go the worse it gets from the one garbage trailer which is a walk all the way to the back, to the broken down amenities there (train depot, castle facade, RC track). The dog park is all weeds and they allow the poop bucket to get to overflowing. The arcade was locked and blocked by empty nickel vending machines. There was no entertainment of any kind.

We stayed one night. The young lady managing the desk was helpful and friendly. She allowed us to drive through and look at the open sites, bathrooms and showers. Everything was clean and tidy. The showers are located beside the office which is up a hill and too far for my disabled body to walk without pain so we elected to shower before setting up in our site. There were kids everywhere playing. Their noise didn't bother us and by nightfall all was quiet. My only complaints were that the wifi was fine when we checked in at the office but when we tried to get online in the evening we couldn't connect, by then the office was closed. Secondly, one of the showers was missing a handle and couldn't be used. The door wasn't labeled. It would be helpful had it been so that one wouldn't get undressed before noticing it (as one man did). Although expensive, we would have stayed another night but it turned out to be another 50 min. drive to Ft Bragg. We ended up dry camping in our small rv at the Safeway with the managers permission.

Only stayed one night but wish we could have stayed longer! The kids loved the park, there were so many things to keep them occupied! Swimming, a play tower, miniature golf, ice cream social, and we had some credits in the well-stocked store. A half-mile hiking trail viewing the surrounding areas made a pleasant escape for the adults in the group, and at dark there was a movie showing for all visitors. AWESOME! The petting zoo was not attended and the imus weren't very friendly (i.e., don't try to pet them). Bathrooms were clean even after the morning rush! Plenty of maneuvering room for 35' RV + toad. We will visit again if we're ever in the area. Oh - it has it's own stop for the Skunk Train, as long as you're not checking out the same day (they don't have much leeway for late checkouts during their busy summer season). This is a destination park in itself!

We have driven by this KOA several times on our way to Fort Bragg/Mendocino and decided to stay two nights here with our granddaughter before heading over to the coast. We found the staff helpful upon check in and even offered a different (upgrade) site! There is plenty to do here; petting zoo, RC track, fishing, put put golf, arcades, ice cream social, water park and pool/spa. The water park water was chilly yet our kiddo loved it and the pool water was enjoyable. Certainly would recommend!

We are on a 7 month trip around the country and at the last minute added this campground to our itinerary. We booked 2 nights. This was our 17th KOA this trip. Since the previous KOA was only 60 miles away we needed an early check-in. When we arrived we were told that even though our assigned site was open, and the campground was approximately 90% empty, that we had to pay $10/hour for the 3 hours early. We had no choice since it was warm outside and we didn’t want our dogs roasting in the coach while we went out. At that time we also paid for our second night since the first night was covered by the deposit. As we were setting up camp we found a mechanical issue that was going to force us to move onto a more populated area the next morning. I immediately went back to the office and informed them of the issue and told them I would need a refund of my second night. This was a full 26 hours prior to the start (check-in time for day two). I was told by the clerk that refunds don’t happen but she would contact the manager about the situation and would call me. I never received a call so I checked at the office when we returned to camp. They again said they needed to call the manager. I waited while they spoke to the manager. The result was no refund. They did say that when checking in I should not have paid for night two. I guess if I was clairvoyant I would have known I was going to have a mechanical issue. I asked to speak to the owners and was told that only a message would be passed to them to call me. I waited three days and when no call had come I called again. I asked again that the owners give me a call. So now almost three days later I have still not received a call. Read all of the reviews on this campground and you will see that this seems to be a common practice at this campground. I wish I had read them beforehand so that I had not stayed here. Overall the staff and management at this campground are either uneducated in campground practices and management or simply don’t care about their customers. I will note that at the previous 16 KOA campgrounds this trip I have never run into an early check in fee nor an issue leaving early and being refunded regardless of the reason. That is one of the reasons why I stay at KOA. Several words and phrases come to mind as it relates to this campground and it’s employees such as unresponsive, inflexible, not customer friendly, greed, and it heads downhill from there. Avoid this place.

I’d love to give 4 stars as the park is clean, staff are helpful and friendly. They give you recycling and regular trash bags on arrival and collect trash daily from the end of your space. They are zipping around in golf carts so are visible. However, the spaces are gravel and need more adding. Every time a car or bike went by, clouds of dirty dust plumed everywhere and settled on everything. I lost the battle against dust and dirt! Kids are out and about unattended. When we were trying to negotiate the roadway into to our site we had 6 young kids, totally unsupervised, wandering about that we had to stop and wait for several times for fear of them being in the way of the coach. No adults appeared. The same at the pool, three kids lying around swinging on the sun loungers, using them as rockers. Other families were doing a great job having fun with their kids and cycling with them or playing at the playground etc. but overall we just felt a lot of kids were unsupervised, screaming and generally out of control. We also found the quiet hours are not enforced. We had music playing from a site behind us until after midnight , along with loud conversation in front and behind us. Kids were up and about screaming in the playground by 6 am. I get it, they want to get moving and have energy, but it wasn’t peaceful or restful for the rest of us! It was a shame as there’s trees and stars and you want to enjoy the surroundings. Minor annoyance but gate code never worked and lots of cars seemed to have to call and wait for it to be opened from inside. I’d be interested to see what it’s like out of season, when School is back in session.

We like to review places before we go and we saw some pretty upset visitors. It doesn’t stop us, usually. So we packed and headed up. I think our only issue was our kids bugging us!! Oh and 1 day the pool was pretty busy and all the loungers were full. Pro’s: Pool Kiddy pool Hot tub Water Park Petting Zoo and Other farm animals Fishing pond Ice Cream social ($2/bowl) Kids party Outdoor Movies at night RC track Rent DVD (and VHS) Pretty stocked camp store Main town close by Empty your tanks for small fee Friendly, nice, helpful staff Some sites with private hot tub (clean) Arcade Rooms The ability to not have to leave the camp grounds all week is awesome! Con’s Pool was really cold (still enjoyable) We didn’t book a longer trip and had to return to real life We can not wait to go back next summer and many more to come. It was so much fun!!!
