We spent a week in La Terrasse apartment at Mas Pallares and can't wait to return. The ancient farmhouse has been tastefully renovated to provide luxurious modern facilities whilst maintaining its true French characteristics. Beautifully designed interiors combined with genuine French windows and doors - tall ceilings affording spacious and comfortable accommodation - it all adds up to an authentic taste of France. Our apartment had a huge sunny terrace overlooking mature landscaped gardens, plus two separate seating areas to provide much needed shade in mid-summer. A large swimming pool and gym/sauna facilities were all spotlessly maintained and the Wifi worked perfectly. The warm welcome provided by owner Lizzie upon arrival was genuine and thoughtful. Indeed, throughout our stay Lizzie provided a constant source of helpful information about the local area. Judging by her warm smile and friendly manner she obviously loves her role and who wouldn't in such beautiful surroundings. Mas Pallares is surrounded by densely wooded hills containing forest walks, rivers and gorges plus extensive cycle tracks linking local villages and sites of interest. Ceret itself is a beautiful ancient market town noted for its cherry festivals and Saturday markets. Full of atmospheric cafes and bars dotted in between the huge Plane trees it is easy to see why famous artists like Picasso used to be regular visitors. The beaches of Argeles and even over the border into Spain are all within easy reach - as are stunning coastal villages like Collioure. If you are looking for a true taste of French culture in a classy, relaxing environment then we highly recommend you try Mas Pallares. We have already arranged to return and it can't come soon enough. Steven and Denise, Wigan, England…
We spent a lovely week at Le Cave apartment in Mas Pallares. The apartment was very spacious and extremely comfortable. Lizzie has put a lot of thought into making the apartment so beautiful and full of character. We also had the most beautiful patio area outside where we could sit and relax in fabulous peaceful surroundings. Lizzie is the kindest person you could meet. She is one in a million. We will definitely return.
We have just returned from a week's stay at Mas Palleras. We stayed in La Cave which is a very spacious and cool apartment on the ground floor of this historic farmhouse. Lizzie is a fantastic host, providing us with information about the local area. We are a family of four with 2 teenagers and this apartment was perfect for all of us. We could all find our own favourite corner to read (catch up on social media or watch you-tube videos!!) and relax. With temperatures reaching mid/late 30s late July, we appreciated the coolness of the old wine cellar. There is air conditioning (& de-humidifiers for the slight dampness in 2 of the rooms), but we only used it a couple of times because the walls are so thick and keep the apartment cool throughout the day. The back rooms are dark, which is great for sleeping in at night, but two of the living areas are very well lit with natural light from the double French doors opening out onto the patio/terrace. The patio is huge and a wonderful place to sit out in. There is plenty of sun and shade throughout the day. There is a good BBQ here too. The pool is lovely, v clean and just the right temperature to cool off! It is a very peaceful area and although there are other houses/gites etc around, there is little noise during the day. The farmhouse is next to a road, but hardly any traffic travels on it. As we needed to relax, we didn't move much from the apartment once we settled in, except to go to Lidl (in Le Pont de Reynes) & Carrefour (in Ceret) for supplies. We did visit Ceret (lovely local town with a rich history and fantastic Museum of Modern Art - also the Tuesday evening market has a wonderful atmosphere), the Gorges de la Fou and Prats de Mollo, but apart from that we just lazed by the pool, did a local walk and used the BBQ a few times! It is a beautiful part of France and I have no doubt we will be returning to Mas Palleras one day!…
We stayed in La Terrasse apartment for a week at the end of July. The booking process was very straightforward and Lizzie was helpful and responsive. The accommodation is a very high standard with plenty of room for two adults and two teenagers. There was also an additional sofa bed in the lounge area. The apartment had everything we needed including air-conditioning and wi-fi (although it was fun telling the kids that it didn't have any connection to the outside world) Everything was as described and the terrace space gave multiple options for outside living. We decided before we went that we wanted a relaxing holiday rather than going out and about every day, so we didn't see much of the surrounding area although we did go into the local town (Ceret) a couple of times and we had one day in Argeles-Plage which was within easy reach. Northern Spain is also very close at hand if the fancy takes you. We'll have to save that for next time. The pool was excellent and well used by us and the property also has a small gym and a table tennis table as well as a small laundry area. All in all, well worth a visit. We certainly hope to return Thank you!…
We are a family of 4 and stayed in La Terrasse for a week in July 2017. It was comfortable, clean and perfect for our first week in France. There is a lovely walk around the hill opposite the property, the views are great, the pool was lovely, table tennis fun and the main terrace for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I recommend Mas Pallares highly.
