Detailed Reviews
Pros: Staff is super friendly and accommodating. When we realized we were in a room that seemed very noisy due to the location, they made the switch with no issues. The hotel grounds / garden is beautiful and is a lovely place to relax and have a drink. We loved that most (maybe all) rooms have balconies and you can open the door to let in fresh air and enjoy the beautiful California weather. Room service was very fast- came less than 20 min after I ordered. The hotel’s location is great- a walkable neighborhood and a quick 5-10 min drive to pretty much everything in Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Century City.
Cons: From a luxury perspective, the Sunset Marquis doesn’t really compare to other hotels like the Four Seasons or Viceroy. The decor is pretty simple and a little bit worn. We also had a tough time getting the shower temp right... it was either too cold or scalding. It’s an older property so the walls are pretty thin. We could hear a lot of what was going on in the room above us, so if you are looking for peace and quiet I would suggest requesting a room on the top floor.
Overall, a very cool property and I would give it 3.5 bubbles if I could. However, since we didn’t have any major issues, just a bunch of little things that weren’t quite right, I’m opting for 4.

Dear Melissa, Thank you for sharing this comprehensive review of your recent Sunset Marquis experience. As you have a firsthand perspective on what to expect from a stay in our area, we’re disappointed that this visit through our doors fell short of your expectations. We take great pride in our beautiful property and regret that a few of our more historic features impacted your overall impression of us. Although we may never be a perfect fit for you aesthetically, we appreciate you taking the time to highlight the genuine hospitality and instinctive service of our staff. We know that our team members are the heart and soul of our property, always willing to go above and beyond to ensure our guests are satisfied and are provided with the home-away-from-home comfort that they desire. We hope to have a chance to improve upon this experience on a future visit to West Hollywood. Sunset Marquis

Everything about this place is excellent. Checking in was quick and easy. Our villa was basically an apartment and it was so beautifully furnished.
Room service was quick and easy, and we dined in the restaurant a few times and also had the best experience there. The lemon soufflé was so good that we had it twice.
Our first stay here was for my birthday last month. We loved it so much that we immediately booked another stay and went back a few weeks later. The employees really make an effort to get to know you, they remember you, and everyone is so nice and helpful.
I really felt like housekeeping took notice of things we preferred on our first stay and applied them to this second visit. This may be a coincidence, but it really made a positive impact on us.
We usually like to have staycations in our local area, but for the comparable price and level of service we have gotten at the Sunset Marquis, this will be our new staycation destination.
We are already planning our next staycation.

We enjoyed the spaciousness of our suite and the amenities. It was delightful to have a little patio. Having volumizing shampoo and conditioner were a plus as well as having double sinks and a lighted magnifying mirror. Even the light in the closet was a welcome little plus.

Our only regret is not learning about Sunset Marquis sooner. The hotel offers the highest level of service. The grounds where the villas are are so well designed such that we could not tell we were in the middle of a city with busy streets to our North and East. The complimentary, all-inclusive passes to Equinox, which is just a skip and a hop away, was an unexpected and welcome surprise. We will definitely be returning the next time we visit WeHo.

I don't usually do reviews, but wanted to give a shout out to hotel & staff at the Sunset Marquis. I'm a producer at a NYC production company and this is our new favorite hotel for lodging & meetings in LA. The suites are all terrific, from the bed & layout, down to tiny details, like the free water in recycled bottles. The restaurant/bar area is great for meeting new writers who live here, and the quiet villas, enclosed by greenery, are perfect for our brainstorm sessions. And love how lots of good restaurants (with outdoor seating!) are walking distance. Plus, when I was late for a meeting and Lyft wasn't working, Chase at the desk got me a car in minutes, saving the day. Thanks Chase! We'll be back!

I stayed at the Sunset Marquis due to the Shine Global Awards, and this hotel soon became my favorite place to stay in LA, hands down. The staff was exquisite, attentive, and the atmosphere at the restaurant, bar, and lobby – peppered with rock ‘n’ roll photographs – proved both relaxed and elegant. I couldn’t ask for a better location either, and though it’s close to Sunset Boulevard, the grounds feel intimate, quiet, and a relief from the intensity of the film or music industry. I also highly recommend visiting the photography gallery in the hotel, which feels like it’s own museum and to my astonishment, affordable. Highly recommended for all travelers onstage or off.

My sister and I try to visit LA a few times a year. We haven't been since late 2018 and what kept us going through the pandemic was that our first trip back would be a stay here. We'd often visited the Morrison Gallery in the lobby and loved the feel of the lobby and restaurant. We were eager to experience the full "Sunset Marquis treatment" after admiring it from afar for so long. We were not disappointed.
The staff here really is the key to an excellent stay, from the valets to the front desk and concierge folks to the restaurant, pool and 1200 staff...everyone was friendly, seemed to know exactly what we wanted and when and made us feel like we were valued, repeat visitors, not thankful first-timers. A special shout out to Gustavo in the restaurant. Every breakfast with him was a joy. He started our day with a smile. Dinner there is also excellent, we will definitely eat here again no matter where we stay.
Our room had a large living room and a sleeping area which was very comfortable and quiet. This was one of the first times we didn't mind spending extra time in, and I curled up on the sofa to read a book and nap one afternoon. The bathroom was a bit small but still had double sinks and a nice sized shower. All impeccably clean and well kept.
We spent a few afternoons at the pool, having lunch and drinks out there as well. Again, like everything else, we were treated like royalty and enjoyed our time there. It is a great place to just kick back and relax and better still, you'd never know you were a stone's throw from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood! We didn't regret spending more time there than we normally do, it was that good.
We hope to get back to the Sunset Marquis sooner or later, but for now will remember our time there, and the people who treated us so well, with smiles on our faces. Thank you!

Overall a very nice hotel with a cool history & very friendly employees! We traveled with extended family and everyone enjoyed it here. The only disappointment was they weren’t able to accommodate our connecting rooms request (I had booked directly & requested this months in advance). We were told at check in that there are very few actual connecting rooms, so just something to keep in mind for future visitors. They were able to put our rooms all next to each other which helped. The rooms themselves were very nice. Ours faced the pool/courtyard which we really liked. Room service was quick & the food was good. Another small hiccup was the online room descriptions say there is a fridge & microwave, but there was no microwave in the rooms. They were able to bring one upon request right away though so it was not an issue. Also just a heads up- minibar items are on sensors, so make sure to check with the front desk for any incorrect charges before you leave (mine had a few which they quickly removed). The hotel itself in a great location - tucked away, but also a short walk/drive from many restaurants & things to do. And again, the employees were so welcoming, friendly & happy to help. They really made our stay enjoyable! We’d definitely stay here again in the future.

My husband and I stayed at the Sunset Marquis - Wow!!! We had the best time! Customer service is definitely the staff's number one priority - We had a standard room reservation, but when we checked in, our room was upgraded to a Suite. The suite was amazing!! Also, Steven (valet parking attendant) was always attentive and helpful. Another valet parking attendant went out of his way to assist our Uber driver to ensure the driver arrived to the hotel to get us to the airport. The Cavatina Restaurant was beautiful, and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back.

The Sunset Marquis - in my opinion- is the best hotel in LA. I have been going to the resturant for the past 14 years and this trip I stayed for 1 month - and received the best service and care. The management is so accommodating and all the staff are wonderful, helpful, and kind. They all became my family and when I left I was very sad to say good bye. The rooms are lovely, the housekeeping is very efficient, the restaurant is one of the best in LA with delicious food and the chef will do anything asked to amend meals for customers who have special requests - the waiters and bar staff always a warm smile and they remember all your favorite dishes and drinks. I love the Sunset Marquis and it’s my home away from home. Thank you for always being amazing!

Yes the tub is big enough - but ask for a room with a tub as some don't have one - but those ones have showers big enough for 6 people. Love everything about the Sunset Marquis. Enjoy - it's like staying at a Tropical Resort just off Sunset Blvde. Hollywood.
Say hi to Logan at reception from me - Millie from Melbourne.
There is also a parking structure at the top of alta loma but you have to enter via sunset. This if uou do not wish to use valet.
