When we arrived we were not happy with our room. Nicola, the night manager, was amazing. She found us another room immediately. Her goal was to help us and ensure that we had a good experience there. The grounds are beautiful and the staff was exceptionally helpful. I would strongly recommend.
My husband and I visited LA for our honeymoon and decided on this hotel for the rock 'n' roll history. All I can say is, wow. Between us, we have stayed in a number of hotels across the world and I have to say, this is the best. The staff are wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble. They are unobtrusive and exceptionally helpful. I couldn't believe the size of this hotel when I found out as we truly felt we were the only ones there. Quiet and intimate and just beautiful with all the fairy lights. The Cavatina restaurant is also excellent. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. Even 5 nights just wasn't enough! Our sincerest thanks to everyone at this place. Hopefully we will be back!
I’ve stayed here before. Had a suite and remember liking it. This time, not so much. I had a regular room. It was dated—bowl sinks, lack of and non-working outlets, USB. Ran out of hot water 2 of 3 days. Management was reluctant to change my room due to hallway noise and my neighbors on either side of me being entirely audible—every word, cough, etc. They eventually relented. The rate for Grammy week was very high and far from worth it. Suites and premium rooms likely much more pleasant. Points for location, but won’t be back.
Excellent room and amenities. Super clean and updated room experience. Theresa cleaned our room and did a fabulous job. She was very attentive to our needs—and helped with extra water. We’ll be back for sure! Although we’re not rockstars—we were treated like we were!
We were back at the Sunset Marquis for a few nights including New Year's. Plans to go out for the night were upset by the very un-LA downpour so we ended up staying in the hotel and seeing in the New Year in Bar 1200. We ended up being very glad we did. Our hosts really know how to throw a party. The bar staff made a great night of it, super drinks, a few shots to get everyone in the mood and most importantly good vibes to start the year off right. The hotel was as fantastic as ever and though just got home can't wait to get back already.
This is a gem tucked away in West Hollywood! We live in the neighborhood but have had to stay on occasions when our power goes out. We could buy a generator but that would deprive us of staying at this great hotel. The employees at the Sunset Marquis are top-notch. I have stayed in luxury hotels all over and the Sunset Marquis employees are trained like the best. Everyone smiles and goes out of their way to help you. This is a cool hotel and if you’re an old rocker like me, or an old hippie, like my husband, you will appreciate this hotel. It’s filled with vintage music prints which you can also purchase at the Morrison Hotel Gallery on premises. (Jamie there is great!). When you walk past the first pool area, you feel like you’re entering an enchanted, tropical location with Spanish villas hidden behind and a koi pond lining the path as you make your way past the restaurant. There are lots of different types of rooms and price points which makes it attractive to many. We ate a breakfast, lunch and dinner at Cavatina as this stay was a quick one - all were delicious with fantastic, friendly service. They have a large outdoor dining area - even in the rain and cold, we were covered and warm. It’s also dog friendly! Now, for a totally cool, hip hotel, at 10:30pm when I went out to walk my dog, it was completely quiet and peaceful. Our room was fantastic again - we need to work from “home” and had plenty of space to work in peace - even though our room was above the restaurant. I can’t say enough great things about this hotel!…
We had never been to LA before and this place had been recommended to us as having quite a cool californian vibe. It did not disappoint and it obviously trades on its music history with lots of photos of iconic rock stars around the hotel. The room was nice if a little dated but comfortable and clean. Nice breakfast and great location for other dining options within walking distance.
Stayed here for 3 nights. The place oozes history. From the second you walk into the lobby there is fantastic rock photos everywhere you look. We stayed in one of the first floor rooms overlooking the pool area. The room was huge, bed was massive and comfortable, huge walk-in shower in the bathroom and a coffee machine in the room. Free wifi through the hotel. We didn’t eat at the restaurant but enjoyed a few drinks at the bar each day we were there. Plenty of places to eat and drink within walking distance including the iconic Rainbow Bar & Grill. We also felt safe walking around in West Hollywood unlike some of the other areas in L.A.
What a wonderful spot! Perched on the hillside away from the hustle and bustle yet close enough for easily accessing the action. Once you enter the interior "courtyard" you feel like you have gone a million miles away. Totally secluded and serene with two pools, a river with a coy pond, fantastic restaurant (indoor /outdoor), great gym and a secret yet famous recording studio in the basement! Rooms were awesome and clean - comfortable and well appointed. Loved this place. Good value
I stayed at the Sunset Marquis due to the Shine Global Awards, and this hotel soon became my favorite place to stay in LA, hands down. The staff was exquisite, attentive, and the atmosphere at the restaurant, bar, and lobby – peppered with rock ‘n’ roll photographs – proved both relaxed and elegant. I couldn’t ask for a better location either, and though it’s close to Sunset Boulevard, the grounds feel intimate, quiet, and a relief from the intensity of the film or music industry. I also highly recommend visiting the photography gallery in the hotel, which feels like it’s own museum and to my astonishment, affordable. Highly recommended for all travelers onstage or off.
