This is a fantastic place in central Hollywood, where you will feel like you are visiting your aunt who happens to be the cousin of Charlie Chaplin.... beautiful design, old, authentic, set up in a great green garden, far from the noise , yet not far from where you want to be
Great bespoke place in a quiet neighborhood in a fantastic location. So much better than staying in some big box place with no soul. Loved having a kitchen option as well. Stayed in Marilyn and can't wait to go back.
I discovered this gem of a hotel and knew it would be a perfect base for our mother/daughter staycation in West Hollywood. The staff was very helpful and friendly and this special property made us feel like we had entered our own private world.
The location was fantastic! Located on quiet street but minutes from great restaurants and entertainment. Our room was very comfortable and the kitchen well stocked for longer stays. The Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Such a great location. A real nugget of Hollywood history, beautiful location, great staff who treat you like friends already. We loved every moment at The Charlie. If you are looking for a gem of a place to stay, with a genuine, comfortable and rich past The Charlie is it.. I would recommend The Charlie Hotel, it's the best place I've stayed in West Hollywood. It's my home from home.
I stayed at The Charlie for two nights in The Betty and really enjoyed my stay. The suite was very comfortable and I enjoyed spending time reading on the sun deck. The hotel is conveniently located between Melrose and Santa Monica Boulevard in a quiet residential area. It was easy to walk to coffee shops and restaurants. There was a wedding the weekend I stayed so it was noisy and you do hear upstairs noise (people banging around) and outside noise quite easily in the suites. But that didn’t deter from enjoying my stay.
A hidden gem in West Hollywood! Once go through the gate of the Charlie enter a small, quiet enclave of small cottages that does not feel like LA/West Hollywood. My suite was outstanding; most likely everyone is amazing. Found the staff friendly and helpful.
Hidden away, exclusive, plush cottages, private oasis in the flats of West Hollywood. Old world feel, modern amenities, posh linens and bedding. Cottages nestled among back-country gardens, lighted walkways and rustic pathways. Each suite adopts a classic Hollywood icon, and a thoughtful motif transports a bygone era. A communion. Great location, glad for the on-site private parking.
We stayed for 2 nights following a long drive from Las Vegas. The hotel requests you to provide them with an arrival time due to the front desk not being 24 hours. Their communication was fantastic and they were accommodating to us arriving later than planned due to traffic. Check in process was easy and quick. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful with a sun deck for relaxing as well as secure, free parking. Our room was Steve. Excellent size, with a living / sleeping area. Separate Kitchen and Bathroom as well as pantry with washing machine. The bathroom was spotless and the shower was spacious. Bed's were comfortable and gave a great nights sleep. The kitchen was of a good size and had all the amenities you would need, including a full sized fridge. There was a small water feature on the outside of our room, at the back of where our bed was which ran all night, so was somewhat annoying but not really a huge issue. Overall we had a nice stay and was great to stay in somewhere different rather than a commercialised high rise hotel. It had a lot of character and made for a very relaxing stay. Our only issue was on our final morning, we were preparing to check out (before the allocated time) and housekeeping came and let themselves into our room without knocking or making us aware. After they realised we were still in the room they just disappeared without even an apology. We made the front desk aware upon check out, who advised that they shouldn't have just let themselves in, however it was a slightly disappointing end to what had been a great stay overall.…
This was our second time staying at The Charlie, so we thought we knew what to expect. The grounds are lovely, the secure parking is very convenient, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable, so it really pains me to write this review. We travel with our dog; she has a heart condition and cannot be boarded. We stayed at The Charlie with her back in August 2022, had a lovely time and decided to return again last weekend (October 2022). Although the hotel checks with you weeks before you arrive to ask your arrival time, as well as the day before to confirm, we were never told that we would be charged a “non-refundable deposit” of $250 for bringing our dog to stay with us until the moment of check-in. After leaving I discovered that a series of taxes were also added on top of that “non-refundable deposit”, making the cost of bringing our dog with us for a single night nearly $300. We made the reservation directly through the hotel website and included information about our dog both times we made a reservation (so they were aware ahead of time that we would be arriving with a dog). Our dog caused no disturbance or issue during our stay. And we were not charged this exorbitant fee last time we stayed, so it really blindsided us. We’ve traveled extensively with our dog, and are used to paying a pet fee or (refundable) pet deposit. But I have never encountered a situation (until now) where such a high fee is charged, and also NOT DISCLOSED until after you arrive. Please don’t make the same mistake we did. If you search, you’ll see other reviews talking about frivolous fees and charges, assessed arbitrarily, due to the whims of management. What we experienced is truly the opposite of hospitality — it was deceitful, predatory and unreasonable.…
