I would have rated this hotel 0 stars but the room was actually nice! Where this hotel totally fails is with its Pool and Customer Service. The Pool: Don’t book this hotel if a relaxing pool is what are are seeking. What the hotel fails to disclose is that the pool is actually a day club with lines of people waiting to get in. Good luck trying to get a chair, or a drink for that matter. Google Mondrian events if you would like an idea of how many parties this place hosts. I wish I would have known. Customer Service: When I brought my concern of being able to use the pool the staff basically ignored me. The Manager on duty was like “This is West Hollywood, what do you expect?” But the best part is that he offered to use the pool at the neighboring Andaz. I’d recommend this place if you’re in the mood for a raging party, but definitely book the neighboring hotels if you want something more relaxing.…
Mondrian is not what it used to be. It's not all bad but book at your own risk. I was there for two weeks for a business trip. I used to come here a decade ago and thought it would be fun to combine business and leisure (my mistake). What this place is good for: a party hotel for a night, maybe two. This way, you won't notice or experience all of its shortcomings. Only a couple. Anything longer and at best you'll be disappointed. Admittedly, the staff is nice overall and usually helpful but the quality of service is mediocre. The rooms facing the pool are nice, albeit some of them pretty small. And it gets LOUD, pretty much every night and much worse on weekends (see note on party hotel). The pool is meh and mainly used for people to pose. Especially after 2 pm. Pool staff ignores you if you're not a dude/large group looking like you're there to spend money. I was never approached to see if I wanted anything. I had to kindly ask to see a menu. Housekeeping/laundry lost one of my items: given to someone else who had inconveniently already checked out. It took 3 phone calls and following up with the manager to get a credit. Minibar refill staff shows up during the day and comes in in your absence. Twice they left opened (*not by me*...) snacks in the mini bar area which made me believe someone had come to my room and helped themselves. Wasn't a fun moment. Took 2 phone calls and a follow up to resolve. The vent in the bathroom smells like frying oil at all times during the day. Housekeeping is not consistent: they don't always replace all towels or the robe. Also left items (garbage bag roll) behind. It was something almost every. day. I wanted to love it but bottom line is that this place is a mess. Any stay beyond 2 days and you'll get to enjoy the chaos and mediocrity.…
Hotel is a little run down (dated) in the common areas. The room was clean and had a great balcony. No food options right now as they are renovating. Location is great, right in the middle of WeHo. Would recommend some other options before booking.
We did not know before our trip there was no restaurant or bar.As they were redoing things. They offered room service but said it could be a 1-hour wait. We were told best to go next door hotel. We were also told no service in our room, so no cleaning, etc...They said they had staff problems. Every other restaurant seemed fine. So why 4 stars? The staff is amazing. Shout out to Jason and Anderson. The room was lovely and well done.
I rarely write reviews, but I wanted to take a second to share my experience about The Mondrian West Hollywood. I could write a lot more, but I will just say - it's loud and cheesy. The pool scene is basically like a nightclub with pounding music until 2am - screaming and yelling and the smell of weed was so strong. I called the front desk at 2:30am to complain about the noise and the guy said "you're staying in West Hollywood - this is normal". It was on both Sunday and Monday nights. Staff was ok, but honestly, I would not stay here again - ever. The store on the mainfloor was never open. I had to go to the Pendry (hotel next door) to get a coffee. It's overpriced for what it is. It actually felt like a dated hotel, but apparently they just had renos in 2019. Also, the room doesn't get cleaned between days.…
A great place to stay in LA. A chill vibe with everything you need. The staff were very friendly and the views of LA were epic. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in a chill, awesome time.
Had a wonderful stay at the Mondrian. The safe was very helpful and friendly on check-in and continued their great service during our stay. We stayed in a suite which provided ample room to spread out. The Sky Bar and pool were nice with a fun crowd. Perfectly situated near restaurants, clubs and bars in West Hollywood on Sunset and Santa Monica.
One of the worst hotel experience of my whole life. Breakfast, which I pre paid, came in paper boxes with plastic cutlery. The hotel’s kitchen is under renovation, and it didn’t occurred to the company to inform people booking a room with breakfast that they didn’t had an operational kitchen and food and beverage would be served as in room dining. I mean, I had in room dining in many other places before, some not as pretentious as Mondrian, but they had real plates, real knives and forks and trays, instead of o paper sack to bring my meal. Now, I just came back from a day out and guess what, no room cleaning, because you have to ask for it! Yes, you read it right. We have to make an appointment to have your room cleaned. The reason is the pandemic of course. But I have been to many hotels since the pandemic hit us and this is unheard of. It might be a city or a state mandate, sure, but shouldn’t the hotel inform you? Shouldn’t it have a note left in the room to remind of such an awkward condition. Well, by now you guessed they didn’t. No note, no reminder, no care. It says a lot about a hotel company. I am not staying in any hotel by SBE. The company doesn’t respect its clients.…
The Mondrian is a 4 star hotel so I do not expect luxury but for the price, I do expect my room to be cleaned and the staff to be well trained. They charged my credit card twice and it ended up getting blocked by my bank while I was in a foreign country. Imagine the hassle. I told the girl at the desk it was approved, showed it to her on my phone, and she still ran in through again. I came home after a very long day and my room was a mess; I had put out the please make up room sign and they just didn’t . The restaurant was closed for renovations so there was no food. No tea in the room. Paper cups. $11 Pringles. Enough said.
Just a quick comment on this excellent hotel where we have just finished a 3 night stay. Had an amazing suite, very large, modern and comfortable. My wife and I both had jet lag after travelling from the UK and only slept a little but we both agreed the bed was so comfortable it was a godsend under the circumstances. Lovely pool and bar area looking out over the city, frequented mainly by the young and beautiful people of LA, great place to chill after a days site seeing. All the staff are very friendly and helpful and one of the best things it is based on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood with lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance. Before we went we had been told stories of LA not being the safest or friendliest place to walk around but we found the opposite, plus so many stories about the history of the nearby hotels and film stars and gangsters going back over the years. For anyone needing a transfer from LAX to the city, we used Royalty Car Services of LA. Great after a long flight to have Bryan waiting for us in arrivals to help with our luggage and get us over to our hotel. .…
