This is cool hotel. We were upgraded to a studio which was quite big. A lovely, bright room. Good shower, comfy bed, nice staff. Reasonably priced. There is a bit of noise from the restaurant / bar, I was on the 2nd floor and looked over the restaurant but this didn't bother me at all. The hotel is really well situated. I would definitely stay here again. The only "negatives" I could comment on are there were no slipper sent he room (I don't like walking round hotel rooms in bare feet !) and the shower just had a window in to the bedroom which is fine if you're a couple sharing a room, but not so cool if you're just friends sharing a room. These are not big issues, however. The rooms has a very good coffee machine which I really appreciate. I recommend this hotel highly.
We do not agree with comments of people saying the hotel is old, sky bar is disturbing the stay of hotel residents, etc. The hotel is well maintained, room was renovated and spacious with good city view, we were On the last and 12th floor. Swimming pool close at 6 pm (but you can still be in the water a bit after, no worries) as the skybar welcomes West Hollywood nights with beautiful people and cars (dress code apply even for resident). Valet service excellent and no restaurant during our stay but many options in the surrounding. You have to ask the front desk for ice, room servicing but this is explained when checking in. We enjoyed being in sunset boulevard , riding Beverly Hills and the comfort of the location. If you plan to stay for the weekend, just be careful the skybar can be out of control if you stay on the pool side… stay on city side, high level floor and enjoy the quiet air conditioning at night.…
I have difficulty from the day I checked in. the Mondrian need to better trained their staff. Guest experience & service comes before anything. I was staying for a total of 30 room nights between 3 rooms. I was overcharged for pre authorization by $2000 on one of the rooms. And simple things like understanding what the charges are or how much outstanding I have, have always been an impossible task and manager always have to come in and assist. Worst experience I have was checking out, after multiple mistakes. I dropped by to check on my billing but as usual the front desk staff seems to be having difficulty himself explaining about the charges. I requested for a manager, and when he comes out you noticed how he speaks to you that he had a preset assumption that I’m just being difficult. And in fact they did overcharged another $400 on a different room for preauthorization. And he’s very adamant and defensive when I asked him ‘why’. He just kept on saying that it wasn’t done by him and it’s not his fault. That’s when I felt, for a luxury boutique hotel such as The Mondrian. The last thing you could do was trying to place the blame somewhere else, whoever works in a hotel, they represent the hotel and it is not right to just say “ It wasn’t me”. On top of that they have Poor communication between themselves, from room cleaning to late checkout. My wife was called to checkout when we had a prior arrangements with the manager for a late checkout. An unfortunate end to what otherwise would be a good located hotel and a decent room. I won’t be coming back. Fyi, the bellman and Valet have always been wonderful.…
Honestly this hotel should change their management style. It's ridiculous, after making a prepaid reservation they haven't taken the money from my card, surprisingly a few hours before arriving at the hotel they cancel my reservation and stated that my card was declined without sending an email to request a method of payment or at least confirm my arrival for 9 nights!! After an email exchange with the front office, I provided my bank card and surprisingly they increased the rate from the initial. After checking the 3rd parties websites the rate was cheaper than the one they try to overcharge me. On my arrival at the hotel, no apologies extend or even trying to amend the rate since this is a long stay and direct booking. This hotel has a lot of potential but with this management is not going far - AVOID!!!…
The hotel’s own Skybar blasted music from 10pm to 2am. We stayed on the 5th floor and the noise is so obnoxiously loud. This issue apparently has been a big issue and the management simply don’t care. Half of the rooms at this hotel face the Skybar so good luck getting a good night sleep if that’s what your stay requires. If you just want to party in your room till sunrise, you are at the right place. This hotel is nowhere close to a 4 star hotel. The beds are old and the bathroom has this weird sliding door that’s very hard to close. Our room’s AC makes a really loud noise when it’s on, luckily it was cold enough at night that we can keep it off. The only positive thing I would say about this hotel is that the staff I’ve encountered have all been courteous. Unfortunately the problem rooted in this hotel is far beyond their control. Stay away from this hotel.…
We stayed at this hotel since we didn’t want to drive after a night of celebration. Our room was spacious and the decor was beautiful. The valet services were slower than other others but overall we had a pleasant experience.
Very nice modern, hip hotel. Rooms are just as pictured -- artistic with a modern flair - impressive. I had a veery nice one-bedroom suite and the bed was extremely comfortable. The restaurant was still undergoing renovation - so room service was handled by Wolfgang Puck restaurant across the street. Very convenient! Staff was warm and welcoming. Although I didn't partake, the Nightlife and the Skybar seem to be the additional draw. I did hear some of the music one night but it didn't bother me or prevent me from having a restful sleep or a delightful stay. One word to describe this place and vibe - Lit!
Seldom am I moved to write a poor review of an experience, but I feel compelled to on this occasion out of courtesy to other prospective guests. 1. The pool was closed at short notice for nearly the entire duration of the stay. A letter initially delivered to the room stated it would reopen on Thu Oct 27, but it we're now informed it will remain closed until Nov 2. 2. There are chronic issues with hot water: it's necessary to run the hot water for 10 mins to achieve a luke-warm shower. 3. The valet service is unreliable: they forgot to bring round the vehicle and I missed a dinner appointment as a result, with no genuine apology offered. 4. The restaurant is closed so only basic in-room dining possible, during restricted hours. I was told that the restaurant closure is mentioned on the website, but I still can't see it, so the info must be well concealed. 5. Despite asking for the room to be serviced daily, on one day the cleaner didn't arrive and when I called for them, I was told they aren't able to attend after midday. 6. The reception staff don't seem to be authentically concerned by any issues, with vacuous sympathies and an offer of a "free drink voucher" for the inconvenience. 7. Beware of the rooms facing Sunset -- we were initially offered a one-room suite on this side, which didn't match the website photos. They're overshadowed and mildly depressing. In fairness, the room we were moved to facings downtown is delightful, and the only saving grace (we would already have moved on otherwise). …
This is my 3rd time staying at Mondrian and I came back as twice before it’s been fine, this time it says they’ve just completed a multi million dollar renovation but my room and the lobby are the exact same as when I stayed here in 2015?? It’s old and dirty looking on the outside. On my first evening here the pool and bar area were closed for a private event, no communication about this, no offer of maybe a discount at another bar as a good will gesture, just “closed for private event”… yet I’m still charged full price for the day, but half the facilities. 2 days I’ve had no hot water and had freezing cold showers. There has no communication regarding the restaurant being renovated, no offer of discount at another restaurant, nothing… this renovation also means I’ve been woken up at 8am every morning when the builders start… but again… I’ve not been offered a reduced rate due to building work and the restaurant being closed?? My final problem is a personal one, I don’t look like your normal Mondrian clientele, I don’t wear gucci and LV so when I walk in the door men just about look at me to check I have my key to confirm I’m staying here, they don’t greet me in the friendly manner I see them greeting the people with expensive clothes and Escalades dropping them off. Will not be back to any Mondrian or SBE hotel after this.…
Seemed to be popular with the younger folk. Room was very spacious but the windows were filthy so the view was not great. The lifts are in need of modernising. No restaurant at the time (being built) only bar is by the pool. Reception staff not over helpful/friendly. Good location for shops/restaurants with walking distance and bus tour stops are right outside.
