I really enjoyed my stay at the Chamberlain. It's a unique hotel proposition however there are some features that may be a deal breaker for some people. The hotel is in a really nice residential neighborhood in West Hollywood half way between Santa Monica and Sunset Boulevards. Within a reasonable walk of the hotel there are lots of cafe's restaurants and bars. When you drive past it, it isn't obvious that it's a hotel as it blends in so well into the locale. It also means that it's nice and quiet whilst be moments from action.

The hotel itself is lovely and the rooms are both spacious and well appointed. I have stayed here a couple times and each time I've been impressed with every room I've stayed in. The bed is super comfortable, many rooms have a full lounge and living area - it would be a good spot for an extended stay. There is is a nice rooftop pool for when the weather is nice and an on site restaurant that we didn't eat at. Of an afternoon they have a complimentary glass of wine which on a summer day in the courtyard is a nice way to wind down.

The location is both a blessing and a curse - as a residential neighborhood in West Hollywood there is no on street parking for hotel guests and the nearby streets can become clogged with traffic. Parking fees at the hotel is usurious as there is simply no alternative and being LA, you will need a car. With some research, the solution we found was that on the other side of Santa Monica Boulevard (south of the hotel), there is free on street car parking both during the day and overnight. It was worth a 3-4 minute walk to the car to save $70 per night on parking with the added benefit of being much easier to get around.

We recently stayed here for 2 nights but I wish it was longer. We’ve never been to SoCal so we did a little “tour” with a couple days in each location.
I picked this hotel based on reviews and location. We were traveling from the east coast with a very early flight and the addition of 3 hours on to our already exhausting travel day. I was looking for some place nice to call home where it would be quiet and hidden from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood. This was absolutely perfect. The hotel was located in a residential area and our room was located down a few flights of steps with no elevator. This meant that room service carts wouldn’t be rattling through the halls keeping us awake. We had the most silent hotel stay we’ve ever had and it was extremely appreciated.
The room was big with a desk area and a big couch. The bed room and sitting room each had a TV and could be separated by a curtain if you decide to have some guests on the pull out sofa. We closed the curtain at night to block out the sunlight that gets through the cracks. The bed was comfy and we were well rested.
The bathroom was nice but the shower was not enjoyable. The tub took up a lot of space so the shower was extremely narrow. As a petite women, I was feeling very claustrophobic. It was like an airplane bathroom, for reference.

The location was good but I wouldn’t say it was completely walkable depending on your interests. We drove every where but we walked to a local breakfast spot one day.

Overall, I would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone.

Hello jnp111. Thank you for your 5-star review! I am happy to see that you enjoyed your stay with us! I too love that our hotel is located in a quiet residential area away from the Hollywood hustle and bustle. We are located to many restaurants within walking distance from the hotel and I'm glad to see you found a local breakfast favorite nearby. I'm sorry to hear that the shower area in your room was smaller than you expected due to the tub in the room. Most of our rooms are shower only which offers more space. Th next time you come to stay with us we can make sure you receive one of these rooms to enjoy a more spacious bathroom. We do hope to see you back with us the next time your travels bring you back to Southern California! Warmest Regards, Desiree Gardea

I cannot say enough great things about this hotel! The hotel & rooms are clean & beautiful, the food delicious and the staff are incredibly personable & friendly. The location is ideal if you want to be walking distance to many restaurants/bars but still be in a quiet residential area. The pricing was also very competitive. This will be our go to hotel for future visits.

We stayed at this hotel from 30th to the 3rd and honestly this has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in
Firstly on the first night we had a child above us constantly jumping around ,banging and running around there room which was very loud in our room. This started around 8pm for around 2 hours then it stopped and started again around 1am through till 3am
When we spoke to reception in the morning about our first sleepless night her reply was “ok they are checking out tomorrow !!!” Which my reply was so I have to put up with it for another night !! she then said she would have a word with them
On the second day we were out all day came back at 8pm and straight away the child was at it again we then went to reception and complained again , security arrived at our door asking if we were 416 clearly we were 306 as stated on the door. I asked him in to the room and said sort this noise out so off he went to the room upstairs and the noise stopped for an hour then started again around 9.30pm
And stopped around 10pm
Then to be woken up at 3am again to this child running around the room again , when I went down in the morning to complain again they said oh it’s ok they have checked out, not the fact I have had 2 sleepless night in the hotel.
Then when we were checking out and receiving my final bill , a meal in the restaurant that we signed for on our room was $270 with our signature and on their bill was $330 so an extra $50 added to the bill when questioned and asked for the signed bill by us, they couldn’t find it and said it had gone to account and they would check it out.
Anyways we sorted the bill out to which it would come of my credit card they then sent us an email saying they had taken $50 of the bill and the amenities which were an extra $45 per room per night for complimentary coffee ( not very complimentary as you pay for it)
We were not advised of this on check in, so be careful. They sent an email with the amendments which seemed ok on an email after the supposedly found the bill in accounts. only to check my credit card bill and they taken more money than the email states working out roughly $230 extra
Which I didn’t authorise , if you stay here be aware fir
3 days for my car to be parked at the hotel is $55 per night extra which you have no choice to pay as there is no parking outside the hotel anywhere.
We were paying the staff the tip cash and they were taking it, only to find out they added extra tips on the bill without you knowing after you signed for it. Maybe take a picture of every bill you sign.
Customer service is shocking if you are going to stay at this hotel make sure you bring ear plugs with you, worst 3 night stay of my holiday.
We Traveled from san Francisco to Monterey on to Santa Barbara to LA
I wouldn’t stay back here if it was free, customer service shocking, no other hotel put service charges on and their parking was $23 a night or free of charge. Be mindful these prices include no room service unless you request it! They also do not communicate well with management to sort issues out..

Stayed at the Chamerlain for 3 nights at the end our mother/daughter Californian trip. Being return quests we knew what to expect and it did not disappoint.
Hotel is presented beautifully and the rooms are xtra large , with defined sleeping /sitting areas. Good size mini fridge, coffee machine (but no kettle), 2 TVs and plenty of hanging/draw space. Fabulous rooms long stay or for families.
This time weather encouraged use of roof top pool, Fabulous sunbeds, umbrellas, great views and bar.Cold water and sunscreen supplied.
Complimentary morning coffee that can be taken in restaurant or courtyard, great start to day, similarly in the evening complimentary wine hour in the evening is a nice way to end the days activities.
Great location Trader Joes virtually across the road, short walk to Santa Monica Blv (#4 bus) or Sunset Blv (#2 bus and sunset Plaza).
On checkout day, stored luggage, at hotel walked to Sunset Blv to get bus(es) to The Getty, spent the entire day at the Getty, bused back to hotel . collected bags and ordered Uber to LAX for night flight back to Australia.
Will definitely be back again.

My husband and I rented a four-seater cabana with another couple through Resort Pass. Check in and access to the rooftop pool was seamless and the cabana was excellent. The pool was not over-crowded and the bartender, Hayden, was very attentive. The cabana rental was relatively cheap but food and beverage was a little pricey. I definitely recommend booking a pool day at the Chamberlain!

I’ve just arrived at The Chamberlain Hotel for a three night stay. I wouldn’t normally write a review before I have even slept a night somewhere, but this needs to be said.

I’ll start with some positives. The hotel is in a great location, is beautifully designed, and my room is very well appointed. However, there are some negatives, in the form of hidden charges, that potential visitors need to be aware of.

When I book into a $250 per night hotel that advertises amenities including a rooftop pool and well appointed fitness suite, I expect access to that pool and fitness suite to be included in my $250 per night. At most other hotels, this would be a given. I do not expect to incur an additional $35 (plus tax) “Amenity Fee” per night for the benefit of being in a building with a rooftop pool and fitness suite.

This “Amenity Fee” was not mentioned when I booked, nor when I checked in. I only learned about it because I happened to look at the hotel website to find out the pool opening times. Right near the bottom of the menu is a section called “Our Hotel”, and right at the bottom of the “amenities” section is an explanation of the “Amenity Fee”. For my $35 (plus tax) I will receive complimentary electric vehicle charging, premium Wi-Fi, daily morning coffee, complimentary in-room bottled water and access to the rooftop pool amenities. The EV charging is a nice touch, but all the other items are things I would expect to be included within my day rate.

Having read the website, I went to ask about the “Amenity Fee” at reception, and find out exactly what I would receive for my money. I was told (with a smile) that it was a charge for the cost of Wi-Fi and access to the pool and fitness suite “even if I didn’t use them”. Further, I was told not to worry as it would simply be taken out of the $450 damage deposit that had been charged to my credit card. I just stared and shook my head in disbelief.

Rest assured, I will be drinking a lot of complimentary (ha ha ha) coffee, hammering the Wi-Fi and making extensive use of the pool. However, this situation just leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. To the owners and manager of the Chamberlain West Hollywood: I’m sorry, but using images of your rooftop pool as your USP and then adding a buried charge to use this pool is pretty poor. Why not just embed the charge within your day rate like every other hotel I have stayed at does. That way people won’t feel like they are being ripped off when they only find out they are being charged an “Amenity Fee” at checkout. Somehow, I don’t think I’ll be coming back here again.

Hello David. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me upon your departure at our hotel. As we discussed I hope you had the opportunity to review your third-party confirmation email that hopefully reviewed all hotel fees and taxes that were including with your booking. I did not receive a follow up call from you, so my hopes are that your bill was correct and in alignment with your confirmation. As I mentioned to you, we pride ourselves on being extremely transparent in all of our fees that our guests can expect during the booking process. If you still have questions or concerns regarding your bill, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly. Warmest Regards, Desiree Gardea

Location - quiet, residential neighborhood in easy walking distance from Sunset Blvd and other streets with restaurants and shops.
Room - Comfortable, spacious. Not suitable for wheel chair - there are 2 steps at the room divider. Window treatments not fully blocking light. Small window to vent bathroom always open, making the bathroom quite warm by day. Movement in room above always audible.
On-premises restaurant - pleasant staff, convenient, small selection, high prices.
Hotel charges - read the website pricing very carefully. Many fees and taxes that add a good deal to the quoted room price. A $150/day "incidentals" charge held on my credit card when I checked in. Noted on the website, but ouch!

Hello 12trvgirl. Thank you for your feedback about your stay with us. While I'm happy to see that you found the location convenient and the rooms comfortable and spacious, I am disappointed to see that we missed the mark in a couple of areas. While most of our rooms do have steps from the bedroom area to the living room, we do have a select number of rooms that are wheelchair accessible. If we know that our guests need this type of accommodation, we make all our efforts to make sure the room is available. Our daily $150 incidental "charge" is only a hold that we place to ensure funds for any charges guest may make during their stay. The incidental hold is immediately released upon checkout. Please feel free to reach out to me directly with any questions or to book your next stay with us. Warmest Regards, Desiree Gardea

Great hotel. Trendy interior and everything is new (or at least well maintained) and clean. Staff are friendly and helpful and location is central to key areas of LA (Hollywood on one side and Beverly Hills on the other). Cafe / restaurant in lobby has excellent service and high quality food and while expensive vs non hotel restaurants is probably about average price for hotel restaurants. Rooftop pool has a cool vibe and gym / fitness area impressive for a hotel if this size. Great value for money especially when you consider how much the larger flagship hotels are charging in 2023.

Well located hotel, nice rooftop pool.
The building and infrastructure are aging and need to be refreshed.
Don't forget anything at the hotel because I have been desperate for a month and a half after multiple phone calls and emails to get a watch (found in the room by the hotel) the carrier waiting for the hotel to make contact... and still not recovered !
Another peculiarity of the hotel is that you have to ask the front desk to clean your room...
