It was a raining day when we stayed at Lake Shasta. There were not much to do, we decided to try the Steward mineral spring retreat. About 1 hour driver to North-west, the retreat is in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by farm lands. Walked into the Office, it was fully booked, we had to wait for the mineral bath... More

SMS is a great place to car camp - found a quiet spot near the creek below the resort, but within walking distance to the springs. The sauna with wood stove is fantastic and springs COLD but nice. Did not do the hot bath thing, feels a bit cramped and getting into tubs is not my thing. Prefer open or... More

This unique woodland retreat is perfect for the neo-hippy yoga set, with very rustic grounds and a down-to-earth bare-bones spa with very reasonable prices. I opted for the $30 day pass which included full access to the spa--with a one-hour mineral bath soak, all-day sauna, sundeck and mineral creek access. The young staff is friendly and informed, and the sauna... More

Needless to say there is a reason this resort does not show any interior photos of the rooms and or accommodations. We had planned to have a wonderful experience and really start our vacation with a relaxed trip to the mineral baths, get massages and stay in the woods. Our experience was contrary. We drove up and there were NO... More

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We are glad you experienced a fantastic massage, and regret that the rest of your experience did not meet your expectations. It seems that you came on an unusually busy day, which can happen in August. You had the rare experience of our one of massage therapists being late and our dress code not... More

I rented a cabin with some family members. There wasn't enough bedding and the bedding available was covered in what looked to be pubic hair. Tried turning the heater on and the whole place smelled like cat urine the rest of the night. Then a giant spider crawled across the wall which I killed with my shoe and left for... More

This place has amazing rustic charm, and is the real deal as a mineral springs. It has old fashion charm tucked away among the trees in a beautiful setting. If you want bleached white towels and fluffy white bath robes, please don't come to this amazing place because you will be disappointed. If you are looking for true mineral springs,... More

We came here not knowing what to expect. We hiked a little around the grounds, then went to the bath house. I soaked in the tub, went to the sauna and then took a shower -- I skipped the cold dip in the springs -- then did the tub sauna shower routine all over again. We hung out for a... More

We stayed in cabin 17, I loved it!!!!! What a special piece of land and water. It was more than I ever expected. I'd read the reviews but since my friend who lives down in Redding had booked it, I just went hoping for the best. And that is why I'm writing this today. Seriously, I can only assume that... More

We are so pleased to read that you were able to receive all of what this sacred place could give, and seeing clearly that our staff are committed to provide an excellent service. This sacred land is so alive that many guests are unable to receive the lessons, gifts, and trickster lessons it has to offer. Each guest is entering... More

Thank you for your concise and accurate feedback. Bathers should pay very close attention to how much is spent in the mineral water (the more sensitve the skin, the less time in the mineral water). Listen carefully to the guidance of the bath attendants. It is best to lie still and let the mineral water open the pores and do... More
