We had a terrific stay at this hotel, especially considering the reasonable price. Our room was spotlessly clean, the beds and pillows were very comfortable, we loved having a fridge and microwave, and the room was quiet. Breakfast was also very good. The staff was fantastic and I want to give a special shout-out to front desk staffer Sherri, who helped us with a last-minute reservation when we were staying in a different hotel that wasn't a good match for us. She was so helpful and personable. Looking forward to our next stay there.

We were traveling up the coast and stayed and were impressed with the staff and area. The lady at the front desk.. I believe her name was Shari.. was so helpful!! She gave us some great dinner location suggestions, gave us directions to the nearby beach (where we saw dolphins!) and offered great customer service overall! There was a grocery store across the street, gas station in walking distance, and a target right up the road. The room was big enough for all six of us adults. The breakfast was good. Very happy with our stay.

Nice property, off the main drag, all rooms are quiet. Check in clerk was very pleasant. Had requested a top floor when I made my reservation on their website. However, we were assigned a ground floor room. Room was good. Usual noise above us, but at 4 am a water noise developed that sounded like a check valve issue in the wall. Every 30 seconds water would run for five seconds and then do it again 25 seconds later. Kept us up the rest of the night. Went to breakfast at 8:45 on Sunday morning - they were almost out of food. Overall a disappointing stay for a Holiday Inn. Won't come back.

They use aren't serving a hot breakfast due to Covid Restrictions which I totally get, But they make a very poor attempt at a sack breakfast. A 50 cent granola bar, an orange, a foam rubber bagel, or a choice of cold cereal-Rice Krispies, Captain Crunch, or Raisin Brand. How hard would it bee to have some hard boiled eggs, or packets of instant oatmeal. Even better, the Hampton Inn takes your order and brings you a hot breakfast.

I felt like I was imposing on the staff for asking for a second cup of coffee. The Covid has turned customer service into the likes of the DMV.

Rude and unhelpful front desk staff. Asked to change my check out date, move rooms due to street noise, and a courtesy late check-out on my last day. All 3 of my customer service requests were denied by the staff. I'm a Gold Elite IHG member and expected a little more consideration and better treatment for my loyalty.What's the point of accumulating loyalty membership points if you don't get treated a little better? Will not stay at this hotel again and avoid Holiday Inn's going forward. All of my future work travel business will go to Courtyard Marriott where they treat high-volume customers much better. Buh bye, IHG.

Hotel was pretty standard for a Holiday Inn. Checked in later in the evening and there were a ton of linemen trucks taking up parking. We were told to park across the street where it says private lot/tow so was a little skeptical about that. Ended up finding one as someone was leaving so lucked out there. Room itself was basic but nice. Water pressure was kind of weak and the shower floor was soft. Overall a quiet hotel but the toilet would run for a few secs every 5 mins or so and the walls are thin so every time someone closed their door we could hear it. Staff was friendly.

On February 6, 2012, I booked a reservation on line at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites in Watsonville, CA, for an overnight stay on March 7, 2012. Unbeknownst to me, I booked this room as an "Advance Purchase" rather than a conventional registration (i.e., putting up a credit card to guarantee a room that can be cancelled up to 6:00 PM on the check-in day). Due to a change in plans, I cancelled that reservation 10 days later. Imagine my surprise when my credit card statement arrived at the end of February showing that $133.49 had been billed to my credit card for a hotel stay I had not yet made!

After calling the Holiday Inn Express "800" number, I was informed that any billing issues had to be discussed with and possibly (operative word) resolved by the manager of the hotel where the reservation was made. After a few back-and-forth phone calls I then spoke with "Amy" the Manager of the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites in Watsonville on March 5, 2012. Amy explained that by virtue of accepting the terms and conditions at the time the reservation was made, I had no right to expect, nor was the hotel under any obligation to provide a refund. Case closed.

Well then, how about a credit in the amount of $133.49 for a future stay at a Holiday Inn property? I asked. Same story, case closed. Exasperated, I then asked Amy if the purpose of the advance purchase was to lock in an unbelievably low rate for a room, why was it that when I checked a few minutes before speaking to her that the very same room was available on March 7th (the original date of stay) for $3.00 less than I paid? Amy laughed politely and said because their rates vary on a daily basis, the main reason for advance purchases was to protect customers from rates going up, not down. In closing she told me I would do well to take this as a valuable lesson by reading the fine print before approving future purchases on the Internet.

So dear readers here we have it: Holiday Inn collects $133.49 from me for a room I didn't use, for a service it did not provide, for a room it probably sold twice on the same night and for providing a very valuable lesson--to NEVER, EVER DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN.

Dear Gardennuts, We have many different rate options to accommodate all of our guests: AAA rates, AARP rates, discounts for staying on the weekend, discounts for pre-paying, etc. When a guest makes an advanced purchase reservation there are several screens that inform them of the stipulations that come with booking that kind of rate. I never, and would never, say to any guest some of the things were mentioned here. I take that very personally Gardennuts. I work very hard to ensure that every guest has a great stay! My team works hard, and my owners really care about the hotel and the people that work in it. There are always risks when booking an advanced purchase reservation. Sometimes plans change, sometimes the weather isn’t what you expected and sometimes the rate will change. I can assure you that rates were not changed out of malice, ill-intent or greed. A computer changes them based on occupancy levels. I would like to also say that I, and the rest of our team members, care about our guest experiences. This hotel had everything we needed. We had a room on the 1st floor with a king bed and jet tub. The jet tub was great for giving baths to our kids and they loved it. In the shower the curtain doesn't touch you! The toilet paper location was the only bathroom complaint I had. The room included a small kitchenette with dishwashing soap glasses plates and silverware microwave and refrigerator. While the room wasn't much to look at the bed was soft and we had plenty of pillows. The view was nice and 3 channels of HBO and condiments were plentiful. The continental breakfast was awesome and convenient. The pool was cold but the hot tub was nice. There is a workout room and a shower area at the pool. The lobby had a nice atmosphere with a complimentary use of a computer. Being on the 1st floor makes a lot of difference so I would make reservations early and request the lower floor. I overhead others complaing about noise in the upper rooms. Parking was easy and the maids did a nice job. We had a great stay.

It's a pretty good Holiday Inn in Watsonville. Good location right off the highway, room was always clean, and everything is freshly renovated. Bathroom was very nice with curvy shower curtain. Free breakfast had all the good basics and there's a computer with free Internet access in the lobby.

Booked a night at this holiday in a few weeks ago. Our rental broke down two hours short of Watsonville. Had to crash in San Luis and get a new rental in the morning. Contacted booking.com and they were very nice and they said for me to call the hotel. I contact this property and they explained to me in writing that their hands were tied that I had to go through booking for a possible refund or assistance. We're not the kind of people who try to get over on anyone we had a valid excuse and backing paperwork from rental agency. We just asked for a little help. Contact booking and they contacted the hotel on our behalf. The nice guy at booking says and I quote "We contacted the hotel on your behalf, again requesting to refund the cancellation fees as you were unable to stay because your rental car broke down. Unfortunately, Pete at the Front Desk told us that he would be unable to refund the $139.99, as they were fully booked that night, and were not able to resell your room." I'm beyond disappointed. We weren't asking for a full refund, just trying to see if anything could be done. This property is in the middle of BFE. I guess business was booming that Thursday night in the middle of January... :/ Anyway, I'm really let down about their customer service and this obvious money grab situation with absolutely zero compassion. Oh well, I guess I'll just write my 139 dollar review and move on. Just be careful if you attempt to stay at this property. If you have an issues arise, expect the same treatment.
