The Hyatt Place San Diego/Vista-Carlsbad garners appreciation for its overall cleanliness and convenient location near attractions and dining, as noted by numerous guests. However, some visitors have pointed out concerns regarding inconsistencies in housekeeping and towel replenishment. While the staff has received commendations for being helpful, issues like slow service and understaffing have been mentioned. Opinions on the hotel's atmosphere and amenities vary, with some guests finding the rooms spacious and the pools clean, yet others mention shortcomings and peculiar layouts. The value proposition is debated, with the cost being reasonable for some, overshadowed by service and room maintenance issues for others.

I would like to bring to your attention a hidden gem we have discovered. This location is off the beaten path and offers welcoming staff, clean and comfortable rooms designed as small studio homes, a refreshing outdoor pool, and an early breakfast with a variety of hot and cold beverages. The staff is exceptional and ensures a great start to your day.

My family just completed a great Legoland weekend and stayed here because it was priced well for Father’s Day weekend. Our stay include free parking, free breakfast, free WiFi, and even two free bottles of water (probably because of my Hyatt status of Explorist). There is plenty of parking spots available and you can even park in the back near the pool entrance, which will still give you quick access to the elevators. The free breakfast was good and fresh. Eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, cereal and oatmeal were the usual items. They did not have any OJ at any of my 3 days here, so that was a little disappointing, but you can’t argue about a free and fresh hot breakfast. It can get busy around 8-9am, so try to go before or afterwards if you want to find seating easily. This is a family-friendly hotel with lots of kids, so be patient and prepared for loud and messy breakfasts. The checkin and checkout process is very easy and quick. Staff is friendly and helpful. Front desk gave me extra shampoo and conditioner when I requested it. They also sent up an employee to clean up the hallway at night because I complained about one of the neighbors putting out a used baby diaper in the hallway at their door, UNBAGGED. Gross and intolerable, but it was taken care of quickly. This hotel also has a good and easy to use business center and computers which allowed me to conduct a few Zoom meetings for Toastmasters. My family enjoyed using the swimming pool and hot tub. It was clean, but hard to tell if the pool is actually heated because it felt a little cold. The room was clean and functional. The setup is a little odd because the bathroom sink is outside of the bathroom, so it offers little privacy for others that are sleeping while someone gets up use the sink and has to turn on the lights. The lighting over the shower was a little dim, too. We enjoyed staying hear because it is easy to get to LEGOLAND form here since it’s only about a 10 min drive plus all the freebies that come standard with staying at Hyatt Places.

Overall, not impressed.

First, the hotel employees don't seem happy to work there. My 88 year old dad was about to have his kidney removed due to cancer. I was not in the best head space. I think the front desk staff should be nice and greet people with a smile. Not the case. I asked to be moved to a higher floor and the manager was not very nice to me when I asked for this. When I saw the same person a couple days later, I said Hi and she ignored me. I am a Hyatt Discoverist member (I realize it's not high), but would expect a little better customer service from the front desk. Such an attitude! I always thought the name Hyatt meant something. I have discovered not all Hyatt's are the same.

Since I did ask to be moved, this next part is my fault. Definitely, do not get a room that faces the road. It is very loud between 5am and 11pm every day. So, if sleep is important to you, ask to be placed in an odd numbered room.

The room was not clean when we walked in. The tables hadn't been wiped down, There were red spots and pieces of trash on the carpet. It was like they vacuumed around the furniture, but didn't move any furniture to vacuum under, such as the ottoman. There was also hair in the shower. I was afraid to mention anything other than the red spots (maybe blood?) to the front desk because they gave me such a hard time when I checked in. They told me the spots were red hair dye. They do not offer room cleaning, which only tells me, they do not clean the rooms very often or thoroughly.

The breakfast was okay. It included eggs, bacon/sausage and pancakes/ french toast (depending on the morning), cereal, fresh fruit, toast, etc. Not great, but free.

Will I stay again? I'm not sure. The hotel is very close to my parents house and I am a Hyatt member, so using points will save me money. If I do stay, I will definitely ask for a room away from the street and check the room for cleanliness before agreeing to stay in it.

I hope these reviews get the attention of the Hyatt, so they'll do something about these complaints.

Please Run , don’t even think about walking away from this place.
This place is not clean at all. When you walk even first in the morning you feel your feet stuck to the ground.
There is NO room cleaning service even if you ask.
Everyone says they will follow up to clean up but it won’t happened.
I had the worst experience of my life here. There were so many issues :
1) first room key was not working and I had to go up and down with those slow motion elevator 3 times !!

2) next day when I come back to the room even the lock looks like broken and they said it is late and they said their maintenance will fix it day after.
I ended up leaving all of my belongings in the room with the broken lock the day after since I had to take my daughter to tournament and didn’t have another option.
I asked to change the room but they said they can’t do that either !!

3) breakfast area in the morning not clean and you can see hair here and there.
Only one person was working in the breakfast area and everything was a mess !!

4) they said on their website that if you have been member with Hyatt they will provide 2 bottles of water every day but most of the time if you don’t get it in the morning there is no more left in the afternoon !!

5) if you ask for anything like extra sheet or pillow you have to wait till you give up.

I am usually not writing reviews unless the place is really bad.
This time I decide to share my experience so others don’t get hurt.

We stayed last week for 7 days 6 nights and had a great beach vacation. Even though we have given this 3 stars, you need to lower any expectation of what a Hyatt should be. First of all thank you Emily and Makhela for an early check in 10.30am so we could unpack fill the ice chest and hit the beach. Our room 406 was not very clean, there was an undergarment from a previous guest left in the room. The toilet seat was loose, and the A/C only cooled down half the room (the sleeping area.) The living room section was very hot. We had a fridge and microwave, even though we were the a full week, no house keeping service was provided. You place your trash can and used towels outside your door for pick up. Clean towels can be picked up at the front desk. Breakfast every single day was sausage and scrambled egg. The breakfast area is not very clean, there is an outside seating area that is filthy, never once cleaned all week. We saw many guests go out ther with their breakfast, take a look around and come back inside. On Saturday the line for breakfast was backed up past the check in counter and back to the front door, and no seating available at all. The bed was great we slept vey well, parking is free, no reort fee, 5 or 6 HBO channels to watch a movie, we just open a bottle of wine make something easy to eat and kick back. We took with us a George Forman grill, one ring burner, and a toaster oven. We are there for the beach, and it is just a place to sleep and shower. The beach is a short drive and you pass Costco on your way, Stater Bros is also close by. There used to be a BBQ by the pool, but that has gone. Tip take a Starbucks coffee holder thingy with you to go get coffee in the morning, 6am Mon-Fri 7am Sat/Sun. Would we stay there again? YES just keep your expectations low, the staff are all very friendly.

We stayed 6/14-6/19 in 2022. We had 2 rooms with 2 queen beds and sofa bed. This hotel is not what you would expect from Hyatt. We received zero housekeeping. I called 3 times specifically about needing clean towels and that garbage was rotting and overflowing in our room. Not once during our entire stay did our rooms get serviced cleaned nor did we get clean towels or trash removal, you could smell rotting garbage every day in our rooms. We stayed in 324 and 326 which faced the busy streets. It was lousy and noisy. This stay was horrendous and I was embarrassed for booking such a place. What a waste of our money $1862 dollars! The front desk told me oh we clean on day 4 of your stay. Nope that’s not true. I even called and scheduled for cleaning and still nothing. We stayed in horrible conditions and the rotting garbage in our rooms caused gnats to form. Like living in a humid dump. You have to keep 1 room card in wall slot to be able to utilize lights and AC at all times. They tell you at check in breakfast is until 10 am that’s a lie. Even though signs show breakfast until 10 we came down one day at 924 am and everything was put away. This place is filthy dirty and a joke. There’s no Covid protocol.. at minimum wear a mask in the elevators.. nope! They don’t care so why post signs in elevator about masking? We will never book with Hyatt properly again. Rooms are filthy outdated and GOODLUCK getting any service for clean towels or having trash removed. I rate this dump with no good food areas nearby 0/100. You will have Better luck at a motel 6 honestly. Don’t book here.

We checked in August 7 through the 9 and we stood in room 416. The room was disgusting absolutely horrible. The floors are stained there was hair everywhere. They don't even have basic amenities like hand soap all they give you is a face wipe and a tiny tube of lotion. The pool was dirty. The spa was dirty and the jets did not work. Their website says they have a on-site restaurant which has been closed for a while. I spoke to the manager Makayla and She was no help at all she had I don't care no my problem attitude We asked for our bedding to be changed because we found hair that never got done. We were charged an early check in fee to check into a room That wasn't even clean. We paid a lot of money for the room and it was very disappointing. we were told that the rooms were updated six months ago. There is absolutely no way I took lots of pictures and will be posting. We would have checked out, but there was no other hotels available in the area.

Hotel had available dry cleaning service upon reservation, had dry cleaning bags and sheets on room but when asked to use the service staff told me the only laundry available was self service washing machines. More often than not had to wait 10-15min for front desk staff to show up. Lights in the room were flickering. Housekeeping did not make bed or clean room in any of the 4 days I was there.

Overall, the Hotel looked clean, organized and with very good smell. However, some areas, such the end of the hallway, by the ice maker machine, needed more care and displayed curtains that didn't look in good condition when compared with the rest of the environment. Elevator was "tricky" one had to hold the button for 5 secs in order for it to work. One of the elevators had the instructions placed on the side, while the other one didn't. Some toiletries essentials are not provided: Clothes iron and ironing table, and some other essentials. Ex: Q-tips, hair caps, body lotion, notepads, pen, Etc. The hairdryer was not visible to guests, it was 'hidden' in one of the drawls. The breakfast didn't look appealing, just the basic was provided. The coffee stirring spoon/sticks and napkins were missing on the coffee table, needed to ask.

Run, don't walk away from this hotel. The worst I have ever seen!
When I first arrived on Sunday afternoon, I asked for my 2 bottles of water. There wasn't any. I asked why, only to be told "we are out". I got that, obviously, but why? I asked where was management, and was told "they don't work on weekends". thi
Monday night there was no dinner/bar service, because the chef didn't show. OK
On Thursday the 1 washer on the 3rd floor, quit. No help from the front desk. Was told to call the service number on the washer to get my $ back. OK. did that, but asked the front desk #1) can you please put a sign on it so no one else tries to use it and loses money, and #2) please call the people to service it. I get the "deer in the headlights" look. OK
Next day I ask if anyone came to service the washer. Same look. Nothing. then "I think saw someone walk by who looked like the might be the service person". OK wow.
The hotel is drab and is very used. In their defense it is packed with families on vacation and the pools is packed with screaming kids having fun. I get it. But the place needs a do over.
The A/C in my room works, but the air coming out of it smells like a port-a-potty. It smells like someone urinated in it. Speaking of smells, almost every other rooms has the smell of marijuana coming out of it. You only have to walk down any hallway and you almost become high yourself. This is a nonsmoking hotel, but obviously it is not enforced.
I would never stay here again. Never. Ever. Very disappointed.

Hello. I'm not sure of the answers to your questions. I can tell you that the hotel is in a somewhat odd but seemingly safe area: kind of a mixed residential and business area. The room was small and unimpressive. Small bathroom and shower. Small fridge and microwave. I'm sure that if you call the hotel directly they'll be able to answer your questions. Good luck. Safe travels. Stephen PS. The Roadway Inn on the coast highway in Encinitas / Leucadia is decent and inexpensive. Restaurants and convenience stores very close by. You could likely take Uber to Legoland.

I only had one issue because I didn't know how to make the lights work. I called the front desk; they gave me instructions to place the key card in a slot by the door. Problem solved immediately. They even waited while I canceled my booking through an online service so I could save money with their normal rate. They were very helpful with everything.

Sorry for the delayed response. The TripAdvisor link was not working. You can walk across the street to the Home Depot. In that Shopping center there is a Discount Tire store. There are also a few restaurants. The Flippin Pizza is good. The Mexican place is good to (I can't remember the name, Juan's maybe). Just up the street is a real good sandwich shop called Vista's Icebox. If you walk a litter further you can find a Starbucks, another good Mexican place and another sandwich place. Saving the best for last, you can walk to the Iron Fist Brewery. They have a tasting room open that is great, but you will need to check the hours they are open. Hope that helps...............Jason
