Went on my first retreat here over 40 years ago and still come as often as possible. A wonderful place to spend a week or just a few hours. The pond is a great place for meditation and reflection and their book store is exceptional. The grounds and surrounding areas are beautiful! And Devils Punchbowl is just minutes away!

Sunday service here is a special treat which is not to be missed if in the area. The chapel is small, seats about 150 people, so get there 20 min early. You can also reserve space to lunch with the monks and the retreat guests. I purchased a beautiful ceramic tile which says, "Bless all those who enter this house."...

Enjoyed a five-day directed silent retreat in early Feb of 2015. Weather was beyond beautiful at that modest 4000 foot elevation. Accommodations were neat, clean and inviting. The entire grounds are as welcoming as the resident monks. This is the place to go for quiet personal reflection and prayer. The close proximity to the historic "Punchbowl" site in the Angeles...

I have been a guest at the retreat house 10 times for the last 15 months because I have been going through some major downs in my life such as loss of job and relationship breakdowns. I keep much to myself and the environment, preached retreats, spiritual direction, and beautiful high dessert and the Abbey's oasis create conditions for healing...

Having only been a day visitor I cannot speak to the accommodation specifics, however, the grounds offer myriad spaces for quiet moments and/or reflection. There are no cell phones, televisions, or loud voices. The Welcome Center and Book Store is a wonderful spot to sit, read and expand your base of knowledge. Even if you are not devout or religious...

Smell the rosemary, smell the pines, love the monastery dogs, listen to the skipping fountains and have a break from your everyday pace; do it all the Benedictine way in moderation and ease. Meals are plentiful, conversation is stimulating, the silence is a tonic in this high desert sanctuary. There is nothing so sweet as chanting psalms for the night...

I love St. Andrew's Abbey and wish I could visit more often. The high desert is fabulous and beautiful and peaceful. The sky is full of stars. It's rewarding to wander up into the hills and down to the water and around the different garden spaces. It is a place free of television and cell phones and computers where an...

I've been many times to St. Andrew's since my first 2008 retreat for weekend directed retreats. I love all the liturgies, the freedom from the usual distractions and "busyness" of home and work, versus the peaceful "balanced days" of Benedictine life at the Abbey in a beautiful holy place. I've enjoyed the lovely garden and going for short hikes in...

Staying countless times at St. Andrew's Abbey has been a most beautiful blessing for me. I like it so much that I volunteer in the retreat office. Although God dwells throughout creation, I sense that this abbey is a very holy place. The pond is my most favor place to commune with God. Singing the liturgies with the monks in...

The sign at the entrance says, "No hunting, except for peace" and if this is what you are hunting for, you are sure to find it here. The rooms are simple, but adequate, with wonderful views. The meals are good and the lunch time soup always tasty! Mass is celebrated daily and the monks are wonderful and friendly. Many directed...

“Workshops fill up quickly. It is important to register early to get one of the upper level rooms which have a better view. However, the lower level rooms are quite adequate. All rooms have a somewhat private patio with new comfy chairs to just sit, read, or enjoy the view.”
