We went to the Lodge in 2018. At that time they served breakfast and the pool was open. This year neither was offered. Last time we stayed in two rooms, one facing the water and the other the mountain. This time we stayed in a little room near the end, (lower number rooms 3 to 6?) As to boats, Kyaks, etc, they still had some to rent by the hour. This still seems to be the best option on the lake, but if you go, be sure not to get the lower number rooms, one night, sitting out on the lakeside porch, the smell from the Port-a-Potty was terrible.
The room and furnishings seemed very dated and in need of renovation. There were several cobwebs in the corners and the beds squeaked. The shower head is just too low and caused us to stoop. We arrived after 8pm so there was nobody on duty to give feedback to.
Stayed in this lodge for 2 nights. It is a very well-kept lodge right on the lake. The room was spacious and clean. The view is great. I really liked my staying and the staff was very kind and I also received an upgrade for the room.
Didn't know what to expect from this place but we were so wonderfully surprised. Our room which was very clean overlooked the most lovely deep blue lake. Looks like a mini Lake Tahoe. The place is family owned and we had breakfast with them the next morning. They're a nice couple who love the area and the property. Don't miss this hidden gem!
Admiral, Captain, Friend, Peter you are one amazing man! What you have done with your place since the day of purchase is nothing short of amazing! Your and Maryann's attention to detail, customer service, the wants and needs of your staff and guests is bar none. We cannot thank you enough for all you do for all of us! And Peter, you have beautiful feet. Jim.
It's been many years since we have been back to this part of Northern California. The Lodge at Blue Lakes did not disappoint. First of all, they are the only "lakes" in the area that actually have water left in them for recreating and boating activities. The accommodations were stellar as expected. We were in the ADA room and the improvements to the bathroom were remarkable. The shower was a blessing with the seat and grab bars and removable shower head/wand. The room was immaculate, the fridge was cold and ready to take our drinks, the a/c blew cold (I'm always hot), and the beds were downy soft and so comfortable. We LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Peaceful, serene, beautiful, owners that care about their guests and will do everything in their power to make your stay the best ever!!! Thanks so much for an awesome 27th anniversary trip!!!…
I wrote this letter to thank the staff for an amazing stay: I'm writing to thank your staff for accommodating my son and me, and giving us the best experience we've had in months. My 10 year old son has suffered from crippling depression for the past half year. He lost his zest for life, he won't go outside with his friends, ride his bike, or go to the karate classes he once loved. It's a huge effort to get him to brush his teeth or take a bath, and many days he doesn't get out of his pajamas. It's been heartbreaking to watch him struggle so much. I booked us for three nights at the Lodge, hoping that the water, sunshine and change of scenery would help him feel better. My son is very attached to his kitten; she's been a rare source of joy for him. I checked the pet policy and read that cats aren't allowed and told my son that. He was annoyed but it didn't seem like a big deal. But the morning we were set to drive to Blue Lakes, he refused to go without her. He grabbed the kitten, went into the car, and cried that he wouldn't go without her. I tried to convince him for an hour as we sat in the car. We sat in the car for an hour trying to convince him. Finally, I said, well hey - let's call and see what we can do. He called three times and spoke to different people and finally got the go ahead from the owners that they would make an exception for him. If we weren't allowed to bring the cat, I think we would've had to cancel the trip. That week was so good for his health and his soul. Upon arriving, it took him four minutes to make a new friend. They were soon kayaking together, riding boats, doing flips off the dock, and testing out the various rope swings. The four days we spent at the Lodge were the best part of our summer. We rented a boat every day (we like Fanta Sea best), we swam, I did stand up paddleboard for exercise every morning, I met our neighbors over morning coffee. I grilled steak and hamburgers, and sipped Lake County wines while looking for shooting stars. Most importantly, I got my son back for a few days. He woke up with excitement for the day again. He played hard and then fell asleep soundly at night. The staff was fabulous. They accommodated our various requests and took care of us. Special shoutout to Sherry who treated my son like her nephew and always made sure he was having a great time and that his kitten was well cared for. We will be back next summer! Thank you, Lodge team, for being there for my family.…
Take a step back in time to this rustic lodge and resort. The staff was so wonderful. The rooms are newly renovated, comfortable, and more than adequate so you can feel relaxed. Shower was hot with plenty of water pressure. Beds and linens were comfy, the AC worked fine and it does get warm in the late afternoon as the sun sets directly across from the lakeside rooms. You can relax in lounge chairs by the lake outside your door, walk down to the dock to either rent a boat, kayak or whatever, or launch your own SUPS right there. A basic breakfast bar is included starting at 8:30am. There are plenty of nice newer gas grills to cook dinner and seating close by for a nice evening meal setting. The lake gets busy on the weekends but no power boats so you can float all day if you want to. Limited day passes are sold so there are people coming and going but that is lake living! Peter is the nicest man, and he and his staff work so hard to keep the lodge running. If you are looking for bougie don’t bother! This is a no attitude, smile and chill place. Be kind and enjoy the lake.…
Small beach. Beautiful lake view--make certain you get a lake view room. Otherwise, your view is of the highway! Comfortable bed! Mia, the front desk gal, was awesome, Without request, she made changes so that I could stay in the same room (I had booked 2 separate rooms). The water is so beautiful at the Blue Lakes. Clean, clear, and fresh. Not affected by the drought since these lakes are spring-fed.
The views are gorgeous and workers are nice. However, I was told my my room had two double bed, a jacuzzi and a fireplace. The second bed turned out to be a futon couch. My 17 year old had to sleep on the floor on a small plastic mat they provided and my oldest son slept on the futon and said it wasn’t very comfortable. The place was decently cleaned but the don’t do cleaning services which was a problem because I had to go request more bags for the kitchen garbage. The jacuzzi was just a jetted tub in the shower. I thought price was a little high for what we got. We still enjoyed the place and had a pleasant time. The kids went fishing and also kayaking.
