Nestled in a crack of the Mayacamas Mountains, Blue Lakes shimmer clear in the Northern California light. Time moves differently here; once you check into your room, you can feel it slow down. Just outside your hotel door, the lake rests, and a gentle breeze blows. Pull up a lawn chair and relax. Or bring your wedding party and get married in the Special Event Center. No matter what you do, the lake is always cool, clean, and inviting, waiting for you to explore. Make your staycation complete by renting a boat, kayak, or paddleboard from the largest fleet on Blue Lakes, and wander, the waves gently lapping against you. All are peaceful and fun here at The Lodge at Blue Lakes, Lake County, California. You’ll have your choice of 22 recently remodeled guest rooms, including 2 Executive Suites. And if you’re looking for a romantic getaway, curl up in a Deluxe Jacuzzi room, complete with a four-poster bed and in-room Jacuzzi tub. Should the lake be too beautiful to leave for dinner, take advantage of the kitchenette rooms, cook your dinner with the door open, listen to the laughter of children, and watch the sun slowly set. Then go head to bed, knowing that tomorrow will be another beautiful day. All rooms come with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, small refrigerators, microwaves, and coffee/tea makers. Air conditioning, climate control, iron/ironing board, clock, and hair dryers are also included. All guest rooms are non-smoking—free self-parking on-site. The Lodge at Blue Lakes follows all social distancing and safety protocols; a mask is required.

Take a step back in time to this rustic lodge and resort. The staff was so wonderful. The rooms are newly renovated, comfortable, and more than adequate so you can feel relaxed. Shower was hot with plenty of water pressure. Beds and linens were comfy, the AC worked fine and it does get warm in the late afternoon as the sun sets directly across from the lakeside rooms.
You can relax in lounge chairs by the lake outside your door, walk down to the dock to either rent a boat, kayak or whatever, or launch your own SUPS right there.
A basic breakfast bar is included starting at 8:30am. There are plenty of nice newer gas grills to cook dinner and seating close by for a nice evening meal setting.
The lake gets busy on the weekends but no power boats so you can float all day if you want to. Limited day passes are sold so there are people coming and going but that is lake living!
Peter is the nicest man, and he and his staff work so hard to keep the lodge running.
If you are looking for bougie don’t bother! This is a no attitude, smile and chill place. Be kind and enjoy the lake.

It's been many years since we have been back to this part of Northern California. The Lodge at Blue Lakes did not disappoint. First of all, they are the only "lakes" in the area that actually have water left in them for recreating and boating activities.
The accommodations were stellar as expected. We were in the ADA room and the improvements to the bathroom were remarkable. The shower was a blessing with the seat and grab bars and removable shower head/wand. The room was immaculate, the fridge was cold and ready to take our drinks, the a/c blew cold (I'm always hot), and the beds were downy soft and so comfortable. We LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Peaceful, serene, beautiful, owners that care about their guests and will do everything in their power to make your stay the best ever!!! Thanks so much for an awesome 27th anniversary trip!!!

We have just returned from another fabulous stay at the Lodge. We have stayed in at least four different rooms and have found them all immaculate, spacious, with superbly comfortable beds, high quality linens. The kitchenette's are completely supplied and having outdoor eating areas with BBQ's is another appreciated amenity. The staff is personable and Pablo always goes above and beyond to make everyone's stay superb. Having water craft available for rent at a reasonable price is wonderful. We look forward to returning SOON. Many thanks.

After we arrived at our room I checked the website again as there was no resemblance between our room and the airy rooms depicted on the website. The bathroom sink wouldn't drain due to a faulty plug and the shower tile was mildewed. There was a layer of dust on the lamp and the headboard. Congealed droplets of an unknown substance were on the picture frame. The outside decking had rotted boards, exposed nails, and in need of paint. There were advisories in the room to minimize the use of toilet paper, don't turn the shower knobs too tightly, and if you use washcloths to remove makeup you will be charged.

Pablo and the other office staff were always there to answer questions and give advice on local places to hike or drive to. They were friendly and helpful.
The morning breakfast of cereals, rolls, toast, yogurt, fruit, and juice was a nice amenity.
The room was very clean and comfortable. The view of the lake and the birds on the water was peaceful. We could hear traffic from Hwy 20 near the motel, but it was still relaxing.
There was free kayak use for one hour per day of our stay.

It was my first time here and I was very impressed. I arrived with my husband and his family for a weekend getaway and The Lodge was a perfect spot. The staff was very nice from the second we arrived to the moment we left. They were nice enough to wait for us to check in as our arrival time was a little delayed due to some traffic. The boat ride was a good way to spend the day and the staff was very informative on the safety of our ride and the best spots to fish. They also have a spot to barbecue and bring the family together after spending the day at the water. They definitely made it work and didn't let a pandemic stop them from performing great service while keeping their guests and staff safe. Hope to come back again. Thank you!

The views are gorgeous and workers are nice. However, I was told my my room had two double bed, a jacuzzi and a fireplace. The second bed turned out to be a futon couch. My 17 year old had to sleep on the floor on a small plastic mat they provided and my oldest son slept on the futon and said it wasn’t very comfortable. The place was decently cleaned but the don’t do cleaning services which was a problem because I had to go request more bags for the kitchen garbage. The jacuzzi was just a jetted tub in the shower. I thought price was a little high for what we got. We still enjoyed the place and had a pleasant time. The kids went fishing and also kayaking.

Hi Karina, Thank you so much for your feedback and for visiting The Lodge at Blue Lakes. We're so thankful for the beautiful views we get each day. Just a few steps away from the shore, our hotel overlooks majestic Blue Lakes and the surrounding forested mountains. I'm glad to hear you had a great time barbecuing on our Waterfront deck. We take pride in our water activities such as fishing and our environmentally friendly electric boats and yachts' rental. I apologize that the room and our service did not meet your expectations. We have clearly stated on our website that the room provides only 1 king-sized bed and 1 futon bed. We currently cannot provide room service due to our heightened response to Covid. We are one of the few hotels that continue to provide breakfast to our guests. We certainly did not intend for your group to feel uncomfortable; however, our security measures, your safety, and the safety of all our other guests take priority over everything. We have established rules for our rooms and use of the property. We hope you understand our role in enforcing said rules. I am happy that despite some drawbacks, you had a nice stay. We certainly look forward to your next visit.

First time visit to Lake County and so glad we stayed at the Lodge at Blue Lakes. Mia and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We chose a room with a kitchenette so we could cook our meals. Plates, utensils and cooking gear is provided. Ample gas barbecues available made it easy and we enjoyed the patio table facing the lake. The room was well appointed and comfortable. We used the lodge as a base to also visit wineries near Ukiah and the Anderson Valley. Only minor downside is the road noise, but we would certainly stay again. Cheers!

I have gone to this lodge over 20 times in the past 14 year and it has always been my happy place. The lodge was sold last December and the new ownership is horrible. From arriving and being greeted by the most rude front desk person to the access to the docks locked until 9:30 and 9:50 the second day. I was told when I arrived after 1:00 that check in wasn’t until 3 even tho there were only 3 cars in the parking lot. I knew my room was ready but was told I would have to pay $50 for 1 1/2 hour early. I had food that needed to go in refrigerator and asked if I could at least do that and again very rudely told there was nothing she could do. They have now put a gate going to the dock and lock it at 7 at night until 9 in the morning. So no early fishing, swimming, or just having a cup of coffee. At 9 it was still locked and went to office and the same rude person said she would get to it eventually. At 9:30 finally she opened it . Next morning repeat only this time I asked 3 times at finally open at 9:50. Other people who were there also complained at rudeness and other issues and said they will never come back. There’s a great resort across the lake and that is where I will now go as I will never go back.

Dear valued guest, thank you for taking the time to write about your stay with us. We value constructive feedback and are always looking for ways to improve service at our resort. We always strive to make our rooms spic and span, and rushing to clean the rooms will require more workforce. Hence, the $50 fee. Additionally, our standard operating procedure for the past few years has been to open the dock at 9 am and close it at 7 pm. However, the dock area was opened late on that particular day due to the absence of the one assigned to open it. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We hope to be of service to you again in the future.

We were not able to stay at the lodge, but we did want to rent one of the electric boats. Our stay this particular weekend was at an AirBnB on Clear Lake. The stay was wonderful, but Clear Lake has its issues with all the blue algae, at least in mid-August it did. So, we could not get in and swim. I had learned about the boat rentals at the Lodge, so, we rented a boat about a week prior.

Once we arrived, the staff was wonderful. I believe the owner sat down and chatted with us as he was out and about conversing with others. Was really a nice touch.

The lake is simply beautiful! The boat trip was nice and relaxing. The boat worked fine and was easy to navigate.

My only complaint is this. We rented the "Jungle" Boat. It was covered and it was big enough for just my wife and I. It says it can hold 8 people I believe, but that would be tough. The problem was, as I wanted to get in the lake on this hot day which I did, but getting BACK in the boat proved to be impossible. We were given a ladder that you can hook on to the edge of the boat, but that was useless because of the concaveness of the boat.

Fortunately, my wife stayed in the boat. Had she gotten in to the water too, we would have been in real trouble not being able to get back in to the boat. What we did was navigate to a shoreline as I held on to the side of the boat and once we got to the shoreline we "docked" it, something that the staff discouraged us to do, but, we did it in a safe manner and we really had no choice but to do so.

Once "docked" the both of us enjoyed a swim. We then were able to both get in the boat and take off and enjoy the rest of the day.

I would suggest that staff inform folks when getting dialed in with the directions, that when using the "Jungle Boat" that it will be difficult to get back in to the boat if you choose to jump in the lake. Now, I am 55 and "phat" so, maybe younger folks can navigate this, but, just a word of warning if you choose the "Jungle Boat." Maybe, just get the pontoons which are easier to get in and out of.

Dear Sippycupadventures, Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We are thrilled to hear that you had a great time overall. You are correct that our large, pontoon-style boats are better for swimming, but as you also mentioned some folks do fine with the smaller, traditional boats. That being said we've taken your feedback into consideration and are implementing a dialogue with boat renters in regards to which boats are better suited for swimming based on recommendations such as yours. Many thanks again for your feedback, constructive suggestions for improvement from the perspective of our guests as truly invaluable to us. We look forward to hosting you again any time!
