Totally amazing, ski on ski off.. the lessons are right out the door. Ski shop was well organized! Best I've seen It's all expensive but hey, it's worth it!! Great spot, Gondola down to little village. It's perfect. Barry at the front desk is the man..
We have been consistently staying at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe property for many years and were not too impressed with the stay...until this time. There has been significant improvement in the staff, especially for families with kids. This time, the smiles and attentiveness received at arrival - the valet, check-in, ski concierge, and servers made us feel welcomed and appreciated. The highlight of the trip was the new program/activities for kids and families. The kids loved all the activities: scavenger hunt, searching for Tobby the bear, doing arts & crafts (suncatcher, ornaments, wind chimes), "planting" a greenhouse pine tree, and cookie decorating events! Will, the recreation supervisor, was so kind, passionate, and patient with the kids. We hear that more kids' programs are in the works and we look forward to checking them out next time! On a side note, it was a shame that these activities were not well advertised throughout the property. I am sure the management will figure this out soon so that all families and kids can enjoy the property to the fullest. Overall, we are very excited that this property is becoming a true family-friendly resort for the kids.…
For the money we paid, I was disappointed. The staff either doesn't know what they're doing or makes you feel special. LOVE the shuttle to Truckee. Reason I'm posting this is I left an item in master bath drawer (100% sure) and it was worth thousands of dollars. I called next morning after checkout knowing it was still there. Several calls had to be made as I felt as it wasn't being handled well. After hours of stress and all the calls they said there was nothing there. BS!!! Housekeeping must have taken it. I am seriously beside myself because of the amount of money we paid for this hotel to lose an item that expensive AND it was very noticable. In a large zip lock back with several jars along with it - basically the size of a flattening hair iron. Crazy thing is I left a make up bag in a place a tenth of the price per night and they called me once they found it. VERY FRUSTRATED. Brand new purchase. I know it was my fault leaving it there but didn't thing a bunch of vultures would be taking it.…
We ate at the Manzanita for lunch over the 4th of July weekend. Have stopped for lunch after skiing eating outside on the patio, so this was quite different. Food was good and while very few people there, service was very good.
Such an amazing great hotel for family. And i was amassed that they had a ski place right out side! Also they upgraded us to a master suite! And we told them that it was my sons birthday and they gave us chocolate strawberries! Can’t wait to go back!
My grown son and I visited the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe in December 2022 for a short ski vacation. I've stayed at numerous Ritz-Carlton hotels around the world and this one didn't meet the brand's standards - not by a longshot. First the good: The ski valet service was excellent - the Mountain Concierge team was well organized and attentive; our skis were always on the snow and our poles planted alongside of them so we could step in and go. We had excellent meals at Manzanita restaurant. And the bartender in the main lobby lounge mixed excellent cocktails. The bad: Check-in time is a late 5 pm. The front desk staff seemed inexperienced, confused, and not fluent in English. And confused: they sent my bags to my son's room and vice-versa. Service in the lobby restaurant was extremely slow. Someone said that they were short on staff because of the heavy snow that happened two days earlier, but by that day the roads had been plowed, and don't people who work at a ski resort know how to get to work in the snow? Housekeeping was terrible. I returned from a day of skiing to find that the room had not been serviced. I called Housekeeping and nobody answered after 20 rings. I then called the front desk and the same happened. I went down to the front desk in person to say that the room hadn't been serviced. The desk clerk seemed confused and defensive. Now, lesser Marriott properties warn you that housekeeping is only on request, but that isn't true of the Ritz-Carlton, and on check-in nobody told me that I had to request housekeeping. In any event, I asked the clerk to have housekeeping service the room and waited in the lobby for 30 minutes. When I returned to my room there was something that wasn't there before: a printed card stuck in the door saying in effect "we didn't service your room because you asked us not to disturb you." That made no sense - I didn't have my do not disturb sign on the door. I took the card down and asked to speak to the manager. The manager said he'd have the room cleaned and would find me in the lobby when it was ready. He also offered a drink from the bar on the house, which I appreciated. Another half hour passed and he came to me to say the room had been cleaned. I returned to the room and discovered that the robe housekeeping had hung on a hanger in the bathroom was grossly soiled! See pictures below. I'm hoping that this was an aberration, because we did enjoy skiing at Northstar and would like to visit again. …
My wife and I have stayed at the Ritz Carlton Tahoe several times. We have stayed over 1,200 nights at high end hotels around the world over the last several years and can attest that the Ritz Tahoe is one of the best hotel stays anyone can enjoy. This is not just because the property is gorgeous with its decor and overall mountain ambience. Just as importantly the hotel management is top notch along with the entire team. The combination of a beautiful property that has the highest levels of service is what truly makes this a one of kind property. The GM, Mr. Perry is one of the top GM's in the hospitality business. He hires a terrific team around him in all departments and empowers them to deliver exceptional service. He is quite personable, pro-active, and responsive as well. Mr. Switzer is the best concierge we have ever encountered at any hotel ever. He is authentic, creative, and has many enjoyable stories to share. Gus, the lounge leader is incredible and always provides amazing service. Laura who is new to the lounge is fantastic as well along with the entire lounge team. All the departments do a great job from the valets, front desk, ski mountain team, to housekeeping, and the restaurant teams. The service and food in the main restaurant, Manzanita, is delicious. The second restaurant, The Living Room, offers a nice variety of tasty dishes too. The property itself again is beautiful from the design of the property, the decor of the rooms, and the overall ambience. The Ritz Carlton Tahoe is truly a unique property led by one of the best GM's and overall teams in the hospitality business. It is not easy to excel in all departments at a hotel but this management team and overall teams work seamlessly together to deliver an exceptional experience. One last side item of note. The hotel has several talented employees from Argentina so it was quite special to witness how excited they were that Argentina won the World Cup during out stay. You will regret not staying at the Ritz Carlton Tahoe if you visit the area and stay elsewhere!…
All the valet and front door staff are top notch. Each member remembered us each time we needed our car for day trips. They offered us bottled water more times than I could count and offered their service each time we arrived and departed. Negative reviews about the valet fee should be deleted since you have to read before you book. I do feel valet should be included and I was aware of the valet charge before booking since its pasted on hotel website multiple times. Advice to management: Since Im willing to pay over $1000 per night I dont think $1050 with valet included would talk me out of out of booking my next trip. On future trips Ill book the room with valet included. The indoor slopeside living room/lounge has 360 degree 3-4 hearth 40 foot stone fireplace with couches and seating throughout. It offers great views of the ski out areas and mountain slopes for people watching. I love pets and this resort had more than a couple dozen while we were there which was great. However on more than one occasion there were guests who had their pets cuddled up on the fireplace couches with them for the entire day. One guest took scrappy outside in the snow/mulch to do business then to return inside where scrappy jumped back up on the couch to snooze. Our room was typical for my ritz expectations with the bed being especially perfect. The room fireplace was a gas insert metal apartment style unit which was fine. House keeping was excellent even tough we opted out of service every other day. Food at the resort is limited to the restaurants and room service breakfast was 10 out of 10 each day. Get the breakfast included or the $100 resort credit/valet free since its offered at about 50% of the actual cost and your going to need it. You have to take the gondola down to Northstar village to get concessions if needed. There are not any options for snacks that I found inside the hotel. There is a coffee bar with some to go options but it closes early. There is a great small provisions market with surprising in northstar village with options for people with dietary restrictions which included some organic choices. Most of the stores and shops close at 7/8pm. The Gondola is connected to the hotel and its only a 5 minute lift. The scenery is magical and I give it a 10 plus out of 10. The Food is an 8/9 out of 10. The service and staff are 10/10. The condition of property and cleanliness are 10/10. The ratings are inaccurate and misleading. This hotel is exceptional. We have stayed at multiple Ritz resorts this year and this one was the by far the best.…
Valet service was the highlight of the stay ! This hotel has some serious issues ,we were greeted by the valet service. We enter the lobby to be graded by three ladies that barely spoke English, and I really struggled with every question we had. We arrived a little earlier than our room was ready, so we had dinner at the living room. It was truly inedible. Walking down the hall, there was wallpaper peeling and in need of repair. Next was we went to our room. It had obviously not been cleaned because there was chips and food on the floor. We had to ask several times for the room to be cleaned. The carpet in the room was stained and needed replacement. There was a nice little s'more's gift in the room. I checked the date and it expired six months prior. The next day I called the front desk to ask for my car to be brought up when we got to the valet 20 minutes later Valley knew nothing about my request so we had to wait for them to retrieve our car. They said that nobody told them about our car needing to be brought up. The next day we asked the front desk to have our laundry picked up. We left it out when we returned later that day the laundry was right where we left it and not picked up. We had to make three calls to the front desk to have the laundry finally picked up the next day. We called the front desk and told them that our room had not been vacuumed. Not one day was our room turn down as promised. we asked for our turn down to be done at 5 PM, it was not done as requested and at 9:30 somebody from housekeeping came walking into our room without knocking we were in bed . The day that we were leaving, we had still not received our clean laundry so we had to call the front desk and tell them that we were leaving at 12 in hopes that that would expedite getting our laundry to us. We were told it would take 24 hours for laundry service. It took 36, and that was after we made several calls. We had dinner at Manzanita, it was acceptable I would give the food 6.5 out of 10. Service a 7.5 out of 10. As we checked out, the gentleman was very friendly, but brand new and inexperienced. The lady next to him when we expressed our concerns was very defensive, and surly We understand you have serious staffing issues but if your hotel is operating at 50% your normal Quality and standard please do not charge full rates or have a disclaimer stating that. This was by no means a Ritz Carlton experience. It was more like a Holiday Inn experience.…
Outstanding services from all the staffs from valet, front desk, ski valet, housekeepers, restaurant and bar which made the stay absolutely fantastic. Everyone were so nice, accommodating, and helpful. All AMEX LHC benefits were recognized, we got welcome gift, early check-in, late checkout, and food credits. The hotel is conveniently located for an amazing ski-in/out experience. Nice amenities. Room was decent but started showing some signs of age, so may need reservation sooner than later. Manzanita restaurant has been serving great food in our recent stays, big step up from couple years prior. Pool, gym, and spa were great. Hot tub can get a bit crowded from time to time, and with a lot of noisy kids. I forgot one of my luggage during the stay, and the staff (Johan), helped taking care of shipping it back in a timely manner, as well as kept me informed, which was greatly appreciated. When I pay $1000+ a night, my expectations are high, and almost always been let down. However, this stay was so incredible and way exceeded my expectations.…
