First, I will admit that I was their during the summer, so I did not get to enjoy the snow, and even so it was beautiful, both inside and out. It was not easy to get away, but the shuttles and their drivers were super friendly as were the front desk people. I also ran into a few friendly people in other area's. Where I was disappointed however was, with the food and servers. It was not once, but multiple times. If you read my reviews, you will find that I am an optimist, friendly and hard to displease, but I do expect a certain level of service at a five star resort. My first issue was with my coffee. Now I am not a coffee addict, but if I am going to have coffee, I like it with heavy cream. If there is not heavy cream, then I pass. Its not a problem, I drink it typically 2-5 times a week, and sometimes go weeks without, especially when traveling overseas where heavy cream is hard to get. (the coffee was good by the way) I asked a server for heavy cream, and they pointed at the cream (half and half) I clarified and said I was looking for real cream and not half an half, and they said they did not have any. I asked them how in the world a five star resort would not have heavy cream, and the server clarified and said they may have seen some in the kitchen if I could wait a few minutes. I said I could thank you, and got my cream. The next morning when I decided to have coffee I just asked them to get the heavy cream from the kitchen and they were kind enough to do so.. this was not the end. they had some brisket nachos in one of the restaurants that I had heard wonderful things about, but it was served with a liquid cheese of which I am not a fan of. I requested the server if I could have mine with real cheese, not the liquid and clarified sliced or grated please. The waitress assured me this was possible and after waiting 30 mins, I was brought... nachos with the liquid cheese. I clarified with the waitress again exactly what I was requesting, (note that I WAS in the US and english is my first language and one presumes that of the server who at the least was fluent) She then told me they did not have any. I pointed at a friends hamburger that looked delicious and said, "that cheese please" and she said that she would get it. 30 minutes later it arrived and I admit, it was delicious!!! This too was no the end. At an evening dinner with 12 of us at the table, we all ordered the special of the evening, which if I remember right ran around $80 per plate of food, and it was a steak of some sort. For some strange reason, 3 people at the table ordered their meat well done. Now I am not a fan, but it was their meat. It arrived with everyone elses after 45- 50 minutes and all of them had medium or medium Rare. Like the people who know how to eat meat got theirs. At this point everyone was pretty tired of trying to order food how they wanted, and so only one requested a redo. the others just did not eat their meat. After another 45 minutes, they got another medium rare steak. This was not the end of the food isues, but you get the idea. There was also no offer to make things right, though one of us did ask to speak to a manager who at least comped the one persons steak who ordered twice. As a side note, this is the 3rd Ritz I have stayed at and it was very strange to have to work so hard to get what you wanted. I might try again during the busier snow season to see if its different, (the pics make me want to just see the slopes) but I will not be in a rush. Oh.. addendum. service and friendliness at the pool was excellent as well.

Hotel's Favorite
We have been consistently staying at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe property for many years and were not too impressed with the stay...until this time. There has been significant improvement in the staff, especially for families with kids. This time, the smiles and attentiveness received at arrival - the valet, check-in, ski concierge, and servers made us feel welcomed and appreciated. The highlight of the trip was the new program/activities for kids and families. The kids loved all the activities: scavenger hunt, searching for Tobby the bear, doing arts & crafts (suncatcher, ornaments, wind chimes), "planting" a greenhouse pine tree, and cookie decorating events! Will, the recreation supervisor, was so kind, passionate, and patient with the kids. We hear that more kids' programs are in the works and we look forward to checking them out next time! On a side note, it was a shame that these activities were not well advertised throughout the property. I am sure the management will figure this out soon so that all families and kids can enjoy the property to the fullest. Overall, we are very excited that this property is becoming a true family-friendly resort for the kids.

We were driving cross country on a corporate relocation. I contacted the property on the road to ask if they had a place to park a truck and was told they were unsure. But they would call me back. After several hours they did and confirmed they could however by then I had made alternative arrangements. Those plans fell through and we ended up there regardless due to the utter ineptitude of the Renaissance in Reno. So, we wasted time and expenses going to a place we should have been able to go there in the first place. Ironically, the excellent valet staff mentioned to me this is a very common request and shouldn’t have taken multiple hours to answer. Once there, we experienced multiple service issues which we addressed immediately with the duty manager who confirmed there was issues and promised resolution via points and to date these haven’t been applied. Furthermore, I have a $400 charge on my Amex which nobody can explain why. More hassle and additional inconvenience to contact the property again. It shouldn’t be this hard to provide a modicum of customer service. Frankly, for a Ritz, and after 100,000 point spend for the stay; Beyond disappointed.

Visited in the summer so can’t speak to the ski resort side of the hotel. But during the week, in the summer, you feel isolated and trapped there. The front staff was less than friendly or accommodating. The website states they have a shuttle to Truckee. When I asked for times to get the shuttle to Truckee, I was told by the concierge that there was none. I checked with the Valet and the directed me to the shuttle driver, Alan. He was the friendliest, and most helpful of any staff we came across. He took us there. The next day when others wanted to go, they were given the same run around by the front desk staff. Not only was the shuttle denied, the staff told us several times that Ubers were unreliable. We tried a Lyft driver, and he was just great. One day I wanted to eat lunch around 11. The large restaurant there did not start serving until 11:30 and would not allow me to sit down until then. They directed me to another lunch area. Same thing, said I couldn’t sit down, that I should try the poolside grill… so I did. By that time it was 11:30. The prices are outrageous for everything and nothing was above average. The rooms, the food, and the pool were all underwhelming.

The beautiful property is nestled high in the mountains and as you drive up the roadway the views of the resort are magnificent. The resort is ideal for couples and families. There are activities for all. The staff throughout the property made us feel so welcome. We highly recommend having access to the Club Lounge. The food and drinks served in the lounge (breakfast, lunch, and evening Hors D’oeuvres) was great. A huge shout out to the staff at the Club Lounge: Gus, Eliza and Teodora. They made our stay at the Ritz Carlton exceptional. Their sincere kindness, and the outstanding customer service they extended to us, made our stay most enjoyable and memorable. We were in Lake Tahoe to celebrate a birthday and they made it extra special for us. We look forward to returning to the Ritz Carlton soon. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Picturesque property. It must be awesome for skiing in winter, but we stayed in summer. There are activities like hiking, mountain biking, rafting - all at an additional cost other than the family pool and on-site gym. The resort purchased lakefront property and built a modern facility. It is very pleasant but comes at a substantial price tag - something like 300/couple for the day plus food/drink; renting their power boat was 750 for two hours. Would recommend Tahoe Sailing Charters for something more accessible. Renting a car opens up options, including dining in town or Incline Village. Note there is no self parking, but valets were very responsive. Tahoe is beautiful no matter what activities you chose.

We had a lovely stay the Ritz Carlton Tahoe. It's all you would expect. Room well appointed and while the service was slow one day in the main restaurant, the food was delicious and worth the wait. But let me tell you a story. We were there to attend a wedding. I had brought some expensive and special jewelry to wear and locked it in the in-room safe. It wasn't until our plane touched down back at home I realized what I had done. I almost had a heart attack when I realized I had left it in the safe!!! The desk manager Nielson and the heard of security Katrina were on the case in a timely and professional manner. Their honesty and professionalism were truly something extremely spectacular, and do hope they will be recognized by the company for this. It is something I will never forget. I can't wait to return one day and thank them in person.

Stayed here for 5 nights to escape the Texas heat, before we arrived I called and spoke to concierges Barry and Gus, they were very helpful in activities planning and room views and szes. After we arrived we loved dining in the Living room and outside with the firepits. My room was at the end of one hall and was super quiet. It was quite a far walk to the elevator but I needed The steps and averaged 13k a day just around the resort. We had breakfast to go at the blue cafe. We tried the spa for facials and nails. Both good. Jenn did my facial and was very gentle and relaxing. We will be back!

The Club is connected to the hotel. You can use the pool at the hotel. The pool was one of the highlights of this stay. It was heated and there was snow all around us, even though it was technically spring skiing time. We were there for 8 nights. We had a 2BR with kitchen. The resort is located at Northstar. It has ski in/ski out facilities, which seemed excellent but we did not use it because we ski at Squaw Valley but the drive was not long. Our room had a balcony and the view was toward the forest and gondola. It was very quiet.

Poor service and mediocre food. One example of many - Had to wait more than an hour at the restaurant for breakfast only to walk away with a grab and go bag with one parfait, one fruit cup and 2 crescent rolls for a family of 3. When asked if we could at least get some butter toast we had to wait another 20 mins only to get this- see picture.
