We've stayed at the AppleGarden Cottage twice and it does not disappoint. The cottage is lovely with lots of high-end finishes, an out-of-this-world breakfast delivered fresh each morning, and the feeling of being very far away from the congestion of the city, even though it's only about an hour north of San Francisco. On our first stay, I managed to forget several small boxes of art supplies and Jan was on it immediately, overnighting them to me with no complaint. This is our new special place.

We loved this place. We stayed there for 4 days just before Christmas and it was wonderful. Living in the city, we wanted some quiet time in the countryside. We came away rested and restored. My biggest issue with B&Bs is that we often find the hosts endlessly intrusive. I understand they want to help, but as an introvert, their presence often grates. Jan and Lou, though, were very thoughtful about letting us enjoy the peace and quiet their cottage provides. It was a delight to have the freshly-made morning meals dropped off for us to deal with at our own pace. The store in Tomales, which is a pleasant walk from the cottage, provided us snacks and lunches. And there are a lot of options for dinner nearby. Our favorite was the Bodega Casino (which is neither a bodega or a casino, but a bar), where in the evenings they have pop-ups with amazing local chefs. I also really appreciated Jan giving us a tour of their farm and teaching us about the business of it. We were really impressed with their industry and acumen. We'll definitely be back!

A wonderful, magical place to stay for a weekend (or longer!). Walking into a warm, cozy cottage on a cold night was a treat, as was the complementary apple cider from the orchard. Wandering the orchard the next day, picking an apple or two, and saying hello to Jan, her husband, and their pup, was wonderful. An intimate, joyful getaway location.

We have stopped counting how many times we have been at Jan and Lou's Apple Garden Cottage. It is our happy place and even just thinking about it fills us with pleasure. This time, we came from a business meeting in downtown SFO and couldn't wait to get out of the city to the peace and quiet of the Apple Garden. We stopped by Point Reyes for groceries and it was almost sunset when we arrived. The sun was colored with twilight, the trees laden with apples, the cows contented just outside the gate, and Jan came out to greet us. We cook pasta, enjoy their delicious cider. We sleep so well in the bed that feels like clouds, the cool breeze through the the windows. Breakfast is waiting on the porch when we awake. There are fresh eggs from the garden, scones made that morning, homemade applesauce and granola, and yoghurt. Each morning is different and bountiful that we never have to eat lunch. Of course we make an exception for oysters at Hog Island nearby in Marshall. The hikes at the Point Reyes National Seashore are lovely and endless. This time, we took a long walk over the pastures at the Tomales trailhead. We cannot wait to go back! We never tire of this lovely place and all the beauty that surrounds it.

I have nothing but positives to say about this charming cottage. It is lovely and so well appointed. The host Jan is gracious and accommodating and she makes scrumptious breakfasts. There is lots to do in the area, i.e. visit the beaches of Sonoma coast, take in the beauty of pt Reyes, hike ... to name a few. But, honestly, I could have been quite content to just sit in the cottage and enjoy the quiet beauty around me. Next time.
