Community based wildlife observations are surely the best way to visit Africa. This is a nice lodge at a most beautiful site with basic but large rooms. It's so remote that you should bring your own food, a cook is available at demand though and we had a wonderful stay here. Obviously most people will come to find the Etiopian...

Menz-Guassa Community Conservation Area (GCCA)’s stunning views and abundant wildlife gelada (Theropiticus gelada), Wild Mouse, Ethiopian Wolf and many endemic birds make it a destination not to be missed. It has spectacular view to mountain adjust to the area with three camping sites with best view. The highlands most pristine and secluded natural wonders ranging from 2500 to 3600meter high...

As far as I know, this is the only lodge where it is possible to see Ethiopian Wolves without leaving the lodge area. Indeed, based on my own experience, you may be more likely to see Wolves (and other interesting wildlife such as Lammergeiers and cute Ethiopian Meadow Rats) if you stay put rather than going on a trek. I...

Guassa is 85km from the arterial route along a gravel road, and 6 hours from Addis. We took a tour with Image Travel from Bole (absolutely perfect) with two AWD vehicles. The resort is idyllic, but basic. Be prepared for temperatures <5C at night and no heating except the wonderful fire in the dining hut. There are more than enough...

Easily one of the most unique experiences that we had in Ethiopia. It offers an opportunity to go trekking through areas that most tourists don't get the opportunity to visit. We didnt travel with a car, and instead accessed the Lodge through public transportation, its easy to buy a ticket to Mehal Meda from Addis, and it was about a...

We spent 2 amazing days and nights at the GCC lodge as a weekend trip from Addis. While the rain was pouring down in Addis, Guassa was bright and sunny and had perfect weather. The lodge is located next to a small stream and the wetlands around attract a lot of wildlife and a phenomenal variety of birds. We had...

The Guassa plateau is one of the most beautiful places we went into in Ethiopia - it's unbelievably green with forests, great views and wonderful afro-apine moorland/marshy areas. We found it was much better preserved than the more visited Simien Mountains. The lodge itself is fantastic - we stayed in a double room which was simple but functional and had...

We stayed one night in the lodge and 1 night camping (as the lodge was full). A truly beautiful location with the chance to see the Ethiopian wolf (brief sighting - so, very thrilled with that). the Lodge is perfectly comfortable and sitting by the fire in the eveing was very cosy. We hired the cook and had a delicious...

Our visit to the Guassa area was expected to be the highlight of our 9-day roundtrip in Northern part of Ethiopia. And it definitively lived up to expectations. We arrived from Hayk/Dessie in the late afternoon, and had only time for a very short walk in the vicinity of the Community lodge. But there it was, the elusive Simian Fox....

I spent three wonderful days at Guassa Escarpment and Guassa Community Lodge. The place is heavenly peaceful, isolated and so well kept. The people at the lodge were so helpful and lovely. I can't wait to get back.
