Vail Lake RV Resort features 467 full hook up RV sites with 30 and 50 AMP power. The property is adjacent to Vail Lake with great Largemouth Bass fishing and boating. Vail Lake has miles of challenging and scenic mountain bike trails (best suited for intermediate and advanced riders)along with miniature golf course, horseshoe pits, bocce ball and more. The majority of our RV camping sites are located among a large grove of mature oak trees offering shaded areas for relaxing. We are minutes away from the wineries and amenities of the Temecula Valley but the setting is rustic and natural with views of the surrounding mountain region. Currently we do not offer tent camping at Vail Lake but we may be offering some tent sites in the near future.

First of all, I’m not a camper. I don’t like sleeping anywhere that isn’t in a bed. But this place is as nice as it gets for camping. They even bring you firewood in the morning if you’re staying more than one night. If you get there late at night, you can buy wood at check-in for just $4 per bundle. And each spot has your own personal fire pit and picnic table! It was easy to make a fire and enjoy s’mores. Their staff are helpful, too. I was worried about checking in late and finding our way, but they are open 24/7 and gave us a map with a path to our site. Couldn’t get any easier.

Their bathrooms have showers (but water is freezing, so I do not recommend), clean toilets, and sinks with paper towels. The only negative is that the bathrooms have no mirrors - so bring your own. It was really as luxurious as it gets for braving the great outdoors. I wouldn’t go to any other campground if it’s not a KOA, because I’ve been spoiled. And people were friendly and quiet after hours.

We recently spent the weekend at Vail Lake. It was our first time staying there. We really loved it. We stayed in Lower Chardonnay. It was a great location for small children because the middle had a big grass area for kids to run and play. It's a cul de sac so there wasn't too much traffic except for the people camping in that area. We visited some friends in The Oaks which was much closer to the village but it was a lot busier. If you have small children I wouldn't recommend it because there were people driving their golf carts pretty fast along with just general car traffic. It was nice to be close to everything though and there is a lot of shade. I would have liked to look at the other camp areas but we just didn't have time.

The staff was great. Very friendly. Check-in was easy. We will definitely be back!

The encampment is terrific. Wide open sites and a beautiful setting. Unfortunately, we immediately encountered problems upon arrival with staff when we were assigned a spot without cell / wifi connectivity. Once we escalated and negotiated a better site (thx to a wonderful staff member named Heather), things improved. The main compound is gorgeous and the individual sites are big, private and accommodating. However, there was never enough staff in the main compound to deal with customers and wifi connectivity was never a priority. If you use this facility, be sure to request a site with close proximity to laundry / wifi facilities and cell service. Full hook-ups worked great.

We had a great time at this KOA! We had full hookups and were located near the entrance of the mountain biking trails. They have 3 swimming pools, so I was always able to find a chair. The only thing I did not like about the trip was that people constantly walked through our campsite. And every site has a nice large space. This was at no fault of the KOA, as they provide you with the list of rules at check in…and this is one of them. It is also common sense and camper etiquette. It only got worse when we went to bed. Kids were literally playing outside our door! Way after the quiet time began. Also, I noticed some campers taking the tables of other campers before they arrived. So we would see the RV show up, only to find no picnic table. Next time I’m going to bring some string and mark off our area. I would come back.

Very large park however the pool was very dirty... also the bathrooms extremely old and also dirty. Expected more being a KOA. We stayed in the Chardonney area, grassy and some trees for shade. The Cafe on site is fantastic and the zyFg were very friendly.

My wife and I stayed two nights last weekend and had a great time. Disappointed we couldn't see the lake but sought entertainment riding our bikes and relaxing by the fire. The spot next to us had a fire pit that a guy just finished rebuilding and looked awesome! Next time I'll request one of those spots. The staff was super nice and the bathrooms were clean. Its definitely family friendly!
We will be coming back for sure!

Lets start with CHECK IN. After asking for our favorite spot, yes we checked our map from last year, we discovered that they had re-numbered the sites. Ok, we dealt with that because the new spot was not so bad. We set up, my husband and daughter went to the office to pick up our Haunted Hayride & Haunted House tickets. The office ladies told my husband that they are not handing out 2 complementary tickets anymore, they are under new owners. Ok. So my husband spent $150 on tickets for our family of 6, which included the NEW Balloon Glow Ride. Later that same day I went to the office with my sister inlaw so she could check in and while we were there I explained to her that they were not offering free tickets anymore since they were under new owners. She asked, she received free tickets, imagine my surprise, so I asked and they said that they had just received the tickets so they were now handing them out. This is were the Rip Off really started.
1. Spoke to owner Bill, yes they will refund my money, "no" does not have to be today sine all my "purchased" tickets were at my site and it was late
2. Both my teenage kids were stopped by the rangers while driving an electric cart to check their license (which they both had in the trailer) but they did not stop the young kids driving/racing the loud gas carts around our site
3. My husband was stopped by the rangers when he tried to drive the cart up to the village at 10:30pm and was told no carts allowed after 10:30pm, what about the 5 loud gas carts racing around my site at 11:00pm? This same ranger ran over when we were starting a fire and accused us of using gas to start it, when my husband was holding a lighter fluid bottle
4. Haunted Hayride lasted 4 minutes, included 3 areas with maybe 15 monsters, was to start at 6:30pm actually started at 7:25pm, and SUCKED LEMONS for $10 per person
5. Other things accured this weekend but the WORST to happen was when we tried to go to the office to get our money back for our tickets that Bill, the new owner, said was OK. Well, we talked to Nora, and between my husband trying to complain and Nora trying to yell over him that we would not be getting our money back, (she took my tickets and would not give them back) she actually said she was calling the police saying my husband was abusive and threatened her. WHAT A CROCK. I guess this is how the new owners and managers are treating their 8 year veteran VIP campers.
6. When we prepaid $10 for an extra car, they still charged the extra car and would not refund this amount either.
7. We also wont mention the fact that they are not giving receipts for all the purchased ride vouchers even after we asked for them. This is $40 per person if you go on all rides.
This is on top of the $110 a night fee.
I WILL NEVER GO BACK AND I WILL NEVER RECOMMED THIS CAMP SITE TO ANYONE!!!

We used to come here all of the time, but we have been hearing that resrvations are always lost. WELL... it happened to us and the 2 families we came with. After about 3 hours of going round and round to get 3 new spots together, we settled on the Lower Merlot area that is covered with ant hills!!!! Also, one our spots had NO POWER. We had to wait another 3 hours to have that finally fixed.

To compensate, the very frustrated ladies offerred our children passes to the water slide asnd told us that our balance was a credit of $10. We found out later, that passes were being offered to everyone because of the crowding.

Finally, as we are cleaning up to leave, this horrible employee, VERA, does not come to make sure that we enjoyed our stay. No, she comes to say that we owe $130 and we need to prove that we paid. Wow! She then tells us we are rude and raises her hand rto block my face when I tell her how upset I am that we are being treated that way. She returns with Security to confirm that our friends had paid, but won't acknowledge us.

24 hours after this ordeal, we receive a phonce call from the dreaded VERA again asking us proof of payment. I offer to forward her my confirmation with my 0 balance, but she's not interested. We can never go back.

Used to camp here years ago when it was Butterfield. Way too expensive, not very clean. Terrible power problems at the sites. Checked in, paid, went to campsite and no power. Talked with other campers and they said the power had been out for 4 days!!! I went up to the office and asked them about the power. They lied and said it must be our fault. When I told them the other campers said the power had been out for days, they admitted it was true. When I asked them why they did not tell me when we checked in, their response was "You did not ask". I was furious and asked for money back. Lady at desk said she did not know how to do that. I insisted on speaking with the owner. She finally called him, and he offered us free future visits. By this time, I just wanted to leave. The desk clerk was extremely rude and said she was having a heart attack and she was going to call the police because we wanted our money back. The employees are whack jobs and they charge way too much for a dump of a campground!!!

First off the campground is dirty. The bathrooms are not cleaned. The store and bar are always closed. You will probably have problems with your water and power ( I did and I know other people that in the past had problems). The office staff has no idea what they are talking about. You ask one question and get different answers from them. The WORST at this resort is the manager VERA. She will not answer any of your questions, she runs away from you. She does not take the responsibility as a manager. Advice to the owner get a new manager and get rid of VERA! And this place it a total rip off way too high of prices for a awful place. My family and I will never come to this resort ever again and I hope that this review is helpful to others.

They have storage but are full right now. I personally call each week to check on availability. It is the ideal place to store my trailer. Something should open up soon
