Visited June 25-July 1 and had a wonderful time. The staff was amazing and the amenities were great. Really happy with the friendliness of the staff especially (Alex from Lithuania). He was so helpful and went above and beyond to help.
I wish they had more than 5 stars as I would have rated it much higher. Love this hotel and the feel of what true Tahoe is all about. The rooms are great and the location is exceptional. I love that they are right next to the Adventure Park and they have a great tennis court and basketball hoop. Tons of space for my kids to scooter around. I love the large pool, kiddie pool and large and very warm hot tub. Plus they have a sauna! Sam at the front desk was beyond wonderful, helpful, kind and understanding. If I owned a company, I would hire Sam in a heartbeat as its all about customer service especially in the hospitality world. He was so professional and put the customer (me) first. Sam you are A+ and are a huge asset to this hotel. Max the manager is A+ as well. He was so kind and understanding and took care of whatever we needed. I was blown away by Max and Sam. You both made our stay even that much better and I am beyond thankful for you both. You bent over backwards for us. We will definitely be back- we have stayed at various hotels in Tahoe but this one is by far my favorite and one we will stay at every time we come to Tahoe.…
Great location, horrible customer service. We've been here four nights. Our tire blew on the way up, and as it's a holiday weekend, nowhere by the lake could get us new tires before late on Tuesday, when we are scheduled to leave. Worse, it's now snowing. As the holiday weekend is over, the hotel is now clearly empty. We asked to extend our stay, and our room is booked tomorrow, which is understandable. When we explained our situation asked if they could help us out and accommodate us elsewhere, the front desk staff was wholly unsympathetic, and told us we had to leave our room by 11am, put all our things and our two young kids in our car that we currently cannot drive, and wait until 4pm until getting another room, and insisted there was no wiggle room in that, and didn't seem remotely interested in helping us. I would probably feel less angry if she had at least pretended to be sympathetic! Given the great access to a sledding hill, small ski hill, lessons and a heated pool, I could have overlooked the overpriced dingy outdated rooms and no housekeeping services and would have come back. But it's hard to want to now.…
We were excited for our stay at Granlibakken, but it was fraught with problems from the start. First, the good: Beatiful grounds, a nice big hot tub, and proximity to Palisades Ski Resort. The bad: I booked a 2 twin room for my brother and I, but when we arrived, they had us in a room with a single bed. Back to the desk, and they moved us to a studio unit with a Queen and a sofa bed. Alright. This room had its own set of problems. Heater was not really capable of warming the room overnight, so we had to ask for extra blankets. Water heater only gave about 15 minutes of hot water for showering. Last but not least, we found dirty diapers and a bag of trash on the balcony, presumably from the previous guests to use the room. We asked 4 times for this trash to be removed, starting at 7:30AM the next morning. Each time we were promised that someone was on their way. They finally came to remove the trash at 11PM that night, after we had already been asleep for an hour. Absolutely ridiculous experience. We probably won’t be staying at Granlibakken again in the future.…
This is our 4th time here. Summary is below. The good: - personal service, you can tell the staff values their guests. - lovely, old world charm - small resort so not too crowded and feels manageable for a family - much less expensive than most other resorts - restaurant was really, really good The changes: - reworked way they run the sled hill and ski lifts. You can no longer buy multiple day tickets. This is to help manage crowds on the hill which was sorely needed, but is inconvenient to wait in line multiple times and essentially plan out when you want to sled - new sleds which are too small for adults - probably staffing-shortage related but the outdoor fire pits and seating weren't available but took away from the holiday ambiance - they no longer allow room charges anywhere so you need to have your credit card on hand always Overall still love the place and plan to return in a couple of months, but hope they consider the impact of some of their changes on guests.…
We visited the Granlibakken Tahoe Resort in August. We were so surprised at how secluded and private the resort felt, while still being close to town and everything we needed. The resort had to make some accommodations for dining due to the heavy amount of smoke in the area (from the Dixie fire), but we still enjoyed delicious food, beautifuk scenery, and great service. We will definitely be back soon!
My fiance and I stayed at one of the Lodge one-bedrooms, located at the top of the hill in the back. The room itself needed some attention. The decor was rather drab and uninviting - no frills. Also please note, there is no air conditioning, which seems to be the case at many hotels in Tahoe, so beware when visiting in warmer months. There is a ceiling fan, however, and the front desk did offer to lend us another stand-up fan, if we wanted. The bed was decent, though the sheets were not the softest. The room was clean, though, and while my fiance and I did not get to explore the grounds, they seemed to have a lot to offer. Hiking trails, a pool, patio cafe, etc. I'm not sure if I would stay here again. I would probably check out another hotel, as I was hoping for something a little nicer. It seems to be a good place if you are traveling with a family (because of the larger, multi-room lodging options, and also because of the activity amenities), but not (at least in my experience) the best place for couples or a romantic getaway. Perhaps if I stayed again, I would request to stay in the main building, or in a nicer room. **I might also add that I had the opportunity to speak to the GM who ensured me that efforts are being made to improve the quality of stay, including upgrades to the rooms. For his follow-up and requests for guest feedback, I would give the customer service a high rating. It seems they are very interested in guest feedback, which is a huge plus in my book.…
I enjoyed my stay at the Granlibakken resort. The property is in a wooded setting with lots of activities both onsite and close by. The resort staff and accommodations were top notch. My room was clean and well appointed, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was modern and had a large shower. The food at the Granlibakken patio grill was excellent, I had breakfast and dinner there several times during my stay. I found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. It was quiet and relaxing at the resort during the evenings and provided for a good place to unwind after day out in the woods. I’m from New England and I plan to stay here again next time I travel out west to go skiing.
We had reservations elsewhere that fell through, so they called and found the 5 rooms we needed at Granlibakken! It was comfortable, quiet, and the restaurant was really good. We were a party of 9, we had 3 breakfasts and one dinner on-site that was enjoyable to all! The new restaurant manager, Yvette, is a sweetheart! Sawyer at the desk did a great job at checking us in. Lukas made our dinner visit fun, along with his sidekick, George! Santi was a pleasure to see at our breakfasts, and Max was another fine worker at the check-in desk. We look forward to returning to the Granlibakken!! Sincerely, Diana and Lavern Lee
Very rustic old feel to Granlibakken. Bed was comfortable, lots of pillows. Hard to navigate at night on the property. The signs are not well lite to know which street to find your cabin. I did not seen on any website that there are only stairs to all cabins. I requested easy accessibility for an 86 year old and had to climb stairs a lot.
