We had a great stay here - our suite was dated but clean and spacious for our family. The breakfast was good too.
We also loved how close it was to the slopes. After a whole day, they were super comfortable with the smallest hill but the intermediate one was too big of a jump for them so we spent our second day at Donner Ski Ranch, which was a perfect second day ski experience.

We stayed here for 4 nights. Here’s our feedback:
Pros:
Price was competitive (value compared to other options)
Good size room - very spacious (stayed in a one bedroom suite)
Good amenities on site
Great access to trails & treetops course
Pretty views from our balcony
Cons:
Needs updating. Very tired & old rooms. Looks like the appliances, faucets, etc are from 1970. Missing oven door knob, a couple small holes in our sheets. Cleaning was ok. Something sticky was on our kitchen floor. Needs more dishes & silverware (we had a service for 6 so we’d have to hand wash or run the dishwasher after every meal for our family of 4.
Overall I would recommend it & stay there again. The value, views & location made up for the small ‘issues’ in the room.

Granlibakken’s location is hard to beat, we have been staying here pretty much every time we came up here for a ski trip at palisades Tahoe. We have stayed pretty much all room types so far, the rooms are comfy but a little dated, so are the amenities. Their breakfast buffet is quite good and you have cedar house (a bit pricy) to save you the trip for dinners. The staff is really the star of the show and I really wanted to thank Steven (don’t know his last name, sorry!) who saved my most recent trip. Steven is so kind that he gifted his usb-c cord to me since I have forgotten my MacBook charger at home, he insisted to not take any monetary compensation tho I really wanted to. Definitely saved the day(s) and I am really moved by his kindness.

The staff were unprofessional at the front desk. They told us our room would be ready in 30 minutes, every 30 minutes for 3.5 hours. They were discussing with each other (in front of us) how poorly organized the housekeeping was (the reason our room wasn’t ready), and offered no compensation or apology for the delay. When we asked about in-town shuttles, they also failed to provide information about the *free* shuttle if you schedule by 5pm the day in advance, but rather, tried to get us to use an Uber-like service (NOT Uber) that seemed really sketchy to me. I wouldn’t recommend anyone staying here due to the unprofessional staff at the front desk. The breakfast was good, the rooms were basic with several things broken/inoperable (outlets, porch screen door, etc).

We are sorry to hear about your experience and apologize your room was no ready prior to our standard check- in time. Our front desk and housekeeping staff do their best to accommodate all of our customers requests and we are sorry they we not able to accommodate your request. +1
This was an absolutely horrible experience for us from the moment we arrived. We arrive at 3:00, told that our room is not ready, check-in is at 4:00. OK, no problem. They take my cell number to text us when the room is ready. The text never came. So at 4:15, I go back to the front desk. Our room was ready, they just didn't let us know. OK, so not the end of the world. Then we get to our room. We walk in, and it was quite stuffy. Low and behold, there is NO Air Conditioning! I think that Air Conditioning is expected, and not having it should have been something I agreed to in advance. We were provided with a plug in fan. The carpet in the room was absolutely filthy. The service was also bad. We go to the patio area for breakfast. I ask where we can get breakfast service and this girl at their ordering/beverage cart tells me that breakfast is only available on the patio. No problem. We go and sit on the patio. After 20 minutes of waiting for someone to come out and take our order, I finally ask a server behind me. She tells me that we have to order at the same cart where the girl told me to sit on the patio. She never said "Order here and have a seat, someone will bring it to you." Well, I go back to the cart and the same girl tells me that the kitchen is now closed. Thanks, no breakfast, and there is no place close by to get anything to eat. That afternoon, we went back to the patio for lunch, BUT the grill doesn't open until 3:00. No food again. Every employee we ran in to seemed totally disengaged. We paid a lot of money for a filthy room with no air conditioning and I feel totally ripped off. And their website says "Clean and Safe Certified". I uploaded pictures of my room. You can be the judge of Clean and Safe...

The room looked absolutely nothing like the pictures on all the sites we researched. I would even say that they are using a different hotel's pictures.
The staff is also kinda off for a resort staff. We checked in at around 8 pm or so. The front desk clerk gave me the keys, wi-fi passcode, and circled where my room was on a map. I don't even think he said 2 words to me. Once we got to the room, the keys wouldn't work and we had to wait for someone to come help us.
The room was clean, but I just couldn't get over how different it looked than what was advertised. 99% of the time, any hotel's rooms don't look as good as what you see on websites, but I've never seen something so completely off. Type in "Granlibakken Studio Room" and you'll get cabin-like rooms. What we had was more similar to a college dorm in need of repair.
Lastly, our neighbor at the Granlibakken was apparently quite bothered by any noise. At around 8 pm or so on a Saturday night, he knocked and asked us to turn down the TV, which wasn't even on. My guess is that he was hearing his upstairs neighbor's TV and he probably went up and asked them to turn it down. I don't think it went over too well. We eventually heard stomping, someone purposely setting their car horn off at all hours of the night, and people speaking very loud. I'm pretty sure it was in response to the neighbor asking people to be quiet so early on a Saturday night. Moral of that part of the story: I don't recommend this place, but if you are still considering it and can't stand noise, definitely don't stay here.
Stay somewhere else in North Tahoe.

We were excited for our stay at Granlibakken, but it was fraught with problems from the start. First, the good: Beatiful grounds, a nice big hot tub, and proximity to Palisades Ski Resort. The bad: I booked a 2 twin room for my brother and I, but when we arrived, they had us in a room with a single bed. Back to the desk, and they moved us to a studio unit with a Queen and a sofa bed. Alright. This room had its own set of problems. Heater was not really capable of warming the room overnight, so we had to ask for extra blankets. Water heater only gave about 15 minutes of hot water for showering. Last but not least, we found dirty diapers and a bag of trash on the balcony, presumably from the previous guests to use the room. We asked 4 times for this trash to be removed, starting at 7:30AM the next morning. Each time we were promised that someone was on their way. They finally came to remove the trash at 11PM that night, after we had already been asleep for an hour. Absolutely ridiculous experience. We probably won’t be staying at Granlibakken again in the future.

I have placed additional room inspections on my list of added procedures prior to guest check in. We do hope you will consider us in your return to Granlibakken Tahoe on the future.

We reserved a studio in this place and when we arrived we found that front door was cracked, fireplace was making a loud buzzing noise, the carpet and sofas were so dirty. We asked for another studio but there was none available so we got a bedroom with a refund on room price which looked a bit better. But all in all the place reminds of 60s with old appliances and low lighting. One of our lamps didn't have a bulb in it. We stayed only one night instead two and checked out earlier as we did not feel comfortable.
A little updating as new appliance, new lighting and new carpet would be nice. Breakfast was great and the hill for.sledding for kids too!
This place looked so good on their website with smores and fire pits, like an ideal family place but fire pits were covered in snow, nobody offered smores. We will stay in Squaw Valley Lodge next time as we stayed there and it was very nice for the same price.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry the room was not up to your standards. We have shared your feedback with our housekeeping department and the homeowner of the studio you stayed in. We are glad to hear you enjoyed the sledding hill located in our 74 acre private resort, which is a better value and is located away from the crowds of Squaw Valley.

Great location, horrible customer service. We've been here four nights. Our tire blew on the way up, and as it's a holiday weekend, nowhere by the lake could get us new tires before late on Tuesday, when we are scheduled to leave. Worse, it's now snowing. As the holiday weekend is over, the hotel is now clearly empty. We asked to extend our stay, and our room is booked tomorrow, which is understandable. When we explained our situation asked if they could help us out and accommodate us elsewhere, the front desk staff was wholly unsympathetic, and told us we had to leave our room by 11am, put all our things and our two young kids in our car that we currently cannot drive, and wait until 4pm until getting another room, and insisted there was no wiggle room in that, and didn't seem remotely interested in helping us. I would probably feel less angry if she had at least pretended to be sympathetic!
Given the great access to a sledding hill, small ski hill, lessons and a heated pool, I could have overlooked the overpriced dingy outdated rooms and no housekeeping services and would have come back. But it's hard to want to now.

Z414 I am very disappointed to hear your stay with us at Granlibakken Tahoe did not exceed your expectations. I was not informed of any guest issues related to your stay with us and again I am sorry I was not involved to assist in making your stay with us memorable. Hospitality is the basis and foundation of the resort experience, although you enjoyed our ski hill, sledding and pool we certainly have room to learn and improve. I would like to personally invite you for a return visit in the near future. This will give us the opportunity to redeem ourselves and show you the hospitality we are known for. Please feel free to reach out to me at markdean@granlibakken.com.

We stayed at Granlibakken over the 4th of July weekend with another family. We like most, are concerned with covid and were pleasantly surprised to see the measures set in place for all guests. What's more, the staff was beyond friendly. Julio, went out of his way to set up tables in front of our rooms so we could bbq and Jenn in the front desk put our two families together. Our bikes ran out of air and we needed an Allen wrench to adjust the seat, and upon hearing our conversation an employee came to our rescue with his personal truck! The rooms are clean, the food is good the customer service exceeds expectations. I will absolutely come again and after this weekend plan on celebrating my 40th there with all of our friends and family.

Sorry, I do not know. Call them, they should give you a straight answer.
It’s better to rent a car to drive around the lake to see everything but Uber Lyft is fine too if you are just going a couple places.
