Adorable rooms and area. Views of the lake and mountains plus just a walk across the street to be at the shore. Comfortable bed and stunning high ceilings. Clean & spacious for two but unfortunately Covid has some of the lounge areas closed. Totally understandable but definitely creates a different experience. Current there is no dine in at any restaurants on the California side. The hotel also doesn't allow lounging in the reception area or common areas unless you have booked to use the common area for one hour per day. Again totally understandable but wish I had this information before booking. Working remotely and we both needed desk space. The to only comes with one which was fine until we found out we had to reserve the commons area in advance and just for an hour a day. Have every intention to return after the pandemic to get the full experience.

The staff is very welcoming and friendly and I'm sure the Covid situation isn't helping cash flow, but the place needs some serious TLC. It doesn't take a lot of money to re-caulk the showers, plant some grasses or pots and clean the carpets. It felt depressed in general. Our bedding didn't fit the mattress, there was mold in the shower and you could hear everything in the next room. The water was hot though, so there's that. The potential is there but it's unfortunately a step up from camping at this point.

We visit Tahoe City about 3 times a year. A last minute trip prompted us to give Basecamp a try. It was reasonably priced mid week. We stayed for a couple of days and checked out early. The room had nice high ceilings. The carpet was extremely dirty and stained. The bathroom very small and tight. Bed was comfortable. They have a nice lobby and small bar and sitting area. They take dogs which is nice. John at the front desk was very nice. The other guy who worked there all the rest of the time consistently took a 1 hour break right at happy hour until 6:30, locking up the entire front and he was not friendly at all. He also came back and shut down the firepits John turned on for all of the guest sitting outside citing it was a city fire ordinance. It was a gas firepit, so not really sure what that was about. The upper deck has a firepit too which also remained off at all times at night during cool evenings. The grass area has benches, but all the grass and landscaping is dead so it is a fine powdery dirt that gets all over. Not really appealing. This place has a ton of potential. Right on the edge of cool, but just missing the mark on ambience and customer service. Basecamp was also the last place I used my credit card, which is only used for hotels and exactly one week later my card had a strange credit from a NY hotel (never visited) and then had a 5K charge to Home Depot on line at 4 AM. I caught the fraudulent charge so all is okay. They had my email, phone number, and credit card numbers. Strange. I have no idea if it is connected, but I had zero charges on that card from the time of checkout until the fraudulent charge.

I am terribly sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. While it is always our goal to create raving fans of Basecamp by providing amazing guest service in a great location, we missed the mark with your stay. In regards to the fire pit, each day we contact the local fire department to see if it's a red flag day or not. If it's not, our fire pits are permissible since they run on propane. On red flag days, they do ban the use of all fire including gas, charcoal, & wood. So I would assume we got word that a red flag warning had been put in place, so unfortunately use of the fire pits would not have been allowed. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly if you would like to discuss your stay in greater detail. Thank you for giving Basecamp Tahoe City a chance and we hope you'll consider visiting us again in the future.

So i've been trying to spend and do something epic for my son and I as I am new to Divorce. Jonathan was amazing, the staff was attentive, the room was so clean i couldn't complain about anything,. Keep in mind this is during COVID, the staff aren't allowed to clean and make the beds they have to wait until you check out, but they will give you a bag to put all soiled Towels and sheets and provide you new ones if you wish. I admired their honesty and their Patience. The AC was strong, it doesn't state it has a Fridge but the room i had , had one. I do wish they had a microwave, but the staff wouldn't mine warming up anything up for you at front desk. This hotel is located in the North Tahoe City, very Outdoors and quaint, not crowded and congested like South Tahoe, all the houses and cabins coming in to South Tahoe, looked like, ...they were falling apart. North Tahoe all the Hotels and Restaurants were local it was awesome to see Local Restaurants a walk away as well as Kayaking and the Beach. I was primarily there to take my son to Tahoe Tree Tops Adventure park best place every , i mean " You only have one life to LIVE!" Best time I had in my life i will coming back here making more memories getting away from the Modern Parenting of shoving my son infront of a IPAD or whatever is common in the US nowadays. Everyone here seemed all about getting out and doing it all. I admired that. Thank you Jonathan and the staff there. I will be back no joke.
