#1 of 7 hotels in Tahoe City
Travelers' Choice
In our 93rd year, Tamarack Lodge offers 21 rooms and cabins at surprisingly affordable prices. On nearly four acres of land one mile east of Tahoe City, we are at the edge of Burton Creek State Park, and are near everything you want to see in North Tahoe. There is also plenty to do right here on our own property. Families and groups love it here, and we are pet friendly too. Our "Poker Rooms" and cabins are genuinely "Old Tahoe". The cabins have full kitchen and are great for a weekend or a week. Our King and Double Queen rooms are spacious and comfortable. All rooms have microwave ovens and refrigerators; many have kitchens. Bring your boat! We have plenty of parking and boat launching is just 60 seconds away. Bring your bike and boots too. Mountain and road trails leave from here. We're 15 minutes from downhill skiing, or head out the back door with your nordic skis or snowshoes. We have been family owned since 1927, and are committed to treating you well.

My daughter and I recently visited the Tahoe area when extenuating circumstances from an untimely medical emergency had us seeking lodging beyond our planned vacation. Fortunately we found Tamarack Lodge Motel! Tamarack’s superlative host Gerard went out of his way to be helpful to us and responsive to our situation. We later realized this accommodating and conscientious attitude consistently abounds at this lodge! TLM compliance to safety protocols and contactless check-in was appreciated. As was the “old Tahoe” feel in the knotty-pine clad 2 bedroom, 2 bath Lodge Cabin, where we utilized the full sized frig and kitchen daily! This cozy cabin would be perfect for an active family with kids, and you are located near beautiful hikes/walks. We loved having a glass of wine under the stars at the huge raw-edge pine table on the patio. Over our weeks in Tahoe, we stayed in several differing TLM accommodations, and each proved comfortable and convenient, with handy appliances, nice beds, and ample, thick towels. But if available, reserve one of the newly updated spaces! Innovative design makes Sweet Cabin 16 a gorgeous, stylish retreat! The 7 Woods King's industrial-meets-rustic feel with its full handy kitchen is fabulous, and Beauty and the Beast's unique steel and wood frame a wonderful kitchen! Each are stunning! Most importantly, we were impressed how the entire staff was friendly, well-trained and committed to their guest’s well-being and safety. We cannot wait to stay again!

We spent two nights at this wonderful little motel. Close enough to town to be convenient, but distant enough feel secluded. The rooms were very nice. Rustic, cozy, and very clean. The staff was welcoming and helpful. I saw several good reviews of the Tamarack Lodge and can confirm they are accurate. What a nice place to stay.

Check-in was easy, it is a little over 1 mile N of Tahoe City. Nice room with 2 queen beds, stove, microwave. Room was hot as there is no air conditioning, called at 9:30pm and immediately was brought a fan for the window, cooled off room and had a great night sleep. Minimal noise found room to be insulated from noise. Only thing I missed was a chair on the balcony with coffee, so I had to go downstairs to the lawn chairs, only issue I drink a lot of coffee and fast. Anyway we will stay here again, I don't need to spend more to enjoy Lake Tahoe and the area.

Family owned, historic lodge with cozy rooms and cute cabins. Everything you need in the room, and close to all kinds of outdoor activities. The Commons Beach is just five minutes away and beautiful swimming. We were so happy here and plan to come back again soon!

Nestled away a mile or so from the bustle of Tahoe City and with the Burton Creek State Park as it's backyard, sits Tamarack Lodge. We were fortunate enough to stay in well appointed cabin #19 awaking to the morning sun on our porch, cup of fresh coffee in hand, feet up on the railing. Complete with full kitchen, comfortable bedding & plenty of room for the dogs. In a word, idyllic. Family owned, proprietor Gerard, made for a safe environment even before our arrival giving options to collect our keys, etc due to the COVID 19 situation. Our cabin seemed extra clean & prepped for guests. Close to the Lake, great hiking trails right behind the lodge [you might even site a mother bear & two cubs], an ageless Lake Tahoe dream like quality. Need I say more!? Book it Dano!
