Outstanding dinner on Christmas. The food was excellent and the service was perfect. I'll be back next year. The prime rib was amazing and the rainbow trout was so good that my four-year-old ate almost all of it. Hopefully this will become a Christmas tradition.

We went during the warmest weekend in Tahoe, so when we were on the lake it was amazing. The hotel has no AC, no phone, and very few 'standard' hotel services that I normally would take advantage of. No fridge, and the beds were terrible. If you are looking for rustic, no frills, this may be your spot. Outdoor patio...

Ok, I've stayed at the River Ranch as a guest a couple of different times during the 2015-2016 season, eaten in the restaurant multiple times, and I wrote a GLOWING review of the place last January. All that changed tonight, however. My partner and I went to go eat at their restaurant for our Christmas Eve dinner. We did arrive...

Nice people. Peppercorn New York striploin was great, cooked to perfection with a nice drizzle. Roast Chicken was good as well, along with the French Onion soup. I did put them to the test with their Trout Toast. I told them I did not like horseradish, which was part of the "spread" listed with this appetizer. I asked for a...

We enjoyed our time at the lodge. Here is what you need to know. They say most rooms have balconies and great views. That seemed to be true except for room 5 which had neither. This is not a modern lodge but does have a nineties river lodge feel. Book ahead of time and make sure to get a room...

If you're looking for a unique and quaint place to stay that is literally right on the Truckee River than this is your place. It is quirky though. I was not impressed with the dining room and the breakfast in the morning. My door to my room open outward towards the parking lot which was awkward as well. People at...

The restaurant is acceptable for its location. The large deck near the river is pleasant. Inside at the restaurant has good special. Pork chops and prime rib are excellent. great drinks. Casual feel after long hikes in the hills.

We've always wanted to try this spot and it got good reviews from our friends. This place has a great patio that sits right on the Truckee River. I liked the variety of menu-tavern fare plus main entrees. The bison short ribs and the world famous nachos were spot on! I look forward to coming back again and again.

Retro lodge style, large, comfortable room was perfect for our family reunion. Lovely view of the patio surrounded by the river and forest. Family members staying here met for breakfast before driving either to the day's activity site or five minutes to our niece's home in Alpine Meadows. We re-convened on the patio before evening meals with the family. All...

I really wanted to like the River Ranch restaurant. We sat at a lovely inside table at the windows with the Truckee River rushing by but that was the end of the magic. The service was spotty and slow. Drinks were ordered quickly, arrived slowly, first course was slow to arrive and we had a youngster with us and instead...
