The front desk staff was extremely helpful. We were there for a football game and they were able to check us in at 11am. The rooms were exactly what you expect from a Residence Inn. The breakfast was decent with plenty of options. If you're booking this hotel to go to Levi Stadium be aware that it is about a 2.7 mile walk one way. But it felt safe even late at night.

If you are thinking about booking this hotel due to a time-sensitive event in the area that you are going to…. this horror story review is for you! My family and I waited 3 HOURS for check-in because our room wasn’t available and still had to be cleaned. We were told we were “third in line” but that took 3 hours. Insane! We had to get ready in the hotel parking lot for the Taylor Swift concert we were going to see at Levi Stadium. And it wasn’t just us either. So many other people were waiting around in the lobby being told their rooms were not available and they were not given any idea on how long it would take for their rooms to be ready. Since our concert had us on a time crunch, we weren’t able to check into our room until past midnight when we got back to the hotel after the concert. When we checked out of our room in the morning and asked for some sort of a discount on the room, as we weren’t able to use any of the amenities in the room, we were told all they could do was waive the parking fee. For a $360 room that we were not even able to check into to get ready for our concert, it was such terrible customer service. The front desk manager (this was on 7/30 at 11:00AM) kept making excuses as to how they had “too many guests” but there was no apology given or any remorse for how negative this experience had impacted our trip. We were all so stressed out getting ready for the concert of our dreams in the parking lot and then to not receive any meaningful discount was terrible. We had an amazing time at our concert but will never be staying at this hotel again. Please be warned that check-in at 3PM (as the hotel advertises) is not a guarantee and the staff will not give any meaningful discount to the room you paid for even if your room is not ready on time. I would truly hate for anyone else to have to deal with the horrible stress we went through and feeling so invalidated for how awful having to wait 3 hours to get a room was for us. No surprise here, but we will never come to this location again, which is a shame, because our room online looked so cute and we would have loved to have been able to use it to its fullest and had the chance to get ready in it! Other issues we experienced but weren’t nearly as bad as the late check-in with no major discount given include the following: -A house cleaner went to the restroom in the lobby and left without washing her hands. -The breakfast area had many items missing due to not being restocked and they ran out of coffee. -Front office staff explained during check in that they were “too booked” yet didn’t offer any apologies or options as to how they were going to take care of guests.

I checked in on a Thursday evening after a long day of travel. Front Desk was able to accommodate my floor preference, so I was happy about that. I had a good nights sleep for all 3 nights of my stay. The WiFi signal was great from my room. Housekeeping did an excellent job. I'll definitely book Sili II again for my future visits to the Bay Area.

Very residential feel to this hotel, as it's like an apartment community. Not too far off of the highway, and a little drive to shops and restaurants. Be aware, if you choose an upstairs room, you will need to go up a flight stairs, no elevator. The fitness center is upstairs of the clubhouse, and there are laundry facilities onsite. You can download an app to pay for laundry if you don't have coins. There may be a charge for soap and fabric softener at the front desk. Full-size fridge and oven and the kitchen has dishes and silverware. Bar counter that you can sit at, as well as a small desk area. Bed is comfy with 4 pillows. This is a nice place. An outdoor pool and basketball court.

Intolerably noisy small pool without any Jacuzzi. BBQ area shares the pool area. Broken hinge in kitchen and broken door latch at the door. Very large families with teenagers stay here. Bring your own ear plugs!

This is my third time staying here, and it is fantastic. The room is fully renovated. The room is very contemporary and clean. It is conveniently located, right of the Lawrence Expressway. It's not far from all the headquarter of the big techs in Silicon Valley. The staffs are friendly. The only disappointment is they want $1000 deposit when you check in.

Dear Tim7482016, Thank you for leaving a review for our hotel! Being that it is your third time staying with us is testament that we are doing something right! In regards to the deposit as much as I would not like to authorize this amount for our penthouses it is in fact necessary to deter younger guests who are just looking for a place to party and disturb other guests from booking at our hotel. Not to say that this has been or is an issue, just that during the pandemic as restrictions were being lifted all the angst that people have been feeling over this year and a half sometimes would get channeled in the wrong way and who has to pay for that? The other guests. So we found it a good deterrent to weed out the people who are only coming here to make everyone else's stay less than satisfactory. As we increase in our occupancy especially with special corporate travel I'm sure that this authorization will only be reserved for the weekend travelers instead of for all those who come to stay with us at the Residence Inn Silicon Valley II what ever the reason may be. Again thank you for leaving your honest feedback and I hope that when ever your travels bring you back to the Sunnyvale area that you continue to choose us as your home away from home. Always remember its not just a hotel, its a Residence!

I have recently been booked at this location for a work stay. I am currently booked for 6 weeks and I am miserable! I was at the alternate location last year, the Residence Inn I and it was terrible....I couldn't imagine that this place would be worse! With the experience I had last year, I had requested an upstairs room, to which I was told I could not have....that all the rooms were already predetermined? I have no idea why I could not have been accommodated, as last year, I was asked if I had a preference. I was even told upon check in that the hotel had plenty of vacancy. I have read reviews from people discussing the Expressway and in my room, it sounds as if it's literally passing by my bed. I am currently sitting in my 'shanty' and have the heater cranked to 80 and it's blowing cold air...I would say something, but I am tired of being told "no" by the staff....at this point, I am just going to have to quit my job and go home....I would never pay for this place...thankfully, I am not.

Response from JAMES WILLIAMS, Other at Residence Inn by Marriott Sunnyvale Silicon Valley II
Responded May 16, 2021
LeeR453, Thank you for taking the time to convey your thoughts and feelings regarding our hotel. The issues that you're outlining does come as a shock to me, as my Front Desk Staff has been properly trained to accommodate any and all guest requests pre-during-post stay. When ever we do have to decline a guest request a reason is given, never a flat no. The reasoning of why we couldn't give you an upstairs floor was simply that we did not have any more standard rooms on the second floor which is due to the rather large group that is currently in-house. This group always requests to be on the second floor and to be proactive to avoid any messy situations we took the liberty to placing as many of the group on the second floor. The only rooms that we have in an abundance is our bi-level lofts(Penthouses). Which without proper authorization cannot be upgraded to. In regards to the A/C only blowing out cold air please reach out to the front desk so that we can at least be given a chance to fix any issues within the room. It is never our intention to place a guest in a room that is going to cause issues for the guest and hotel alike down the road. Yet things happen, that is a given. Please give our staff a chance to rectify these issues so that instead of dreading the fact that you have to stay with us, we can make a positive impact in how you see our property and an industry as a whole. I can only hope that we can find a solution to these issues and help you regain your confidence in our property and staff. We are here for you! If there is anything else that we can do to further enhance the remainder of your stay please reach out to the front desk at your earliest convenience.

I was concerned by reviews complaining of dilapidation but, as I was travelling for business, had very little choice and decided to give it a chance. I'm very glad that I did. This is not a fancy hotel, but in the things that matter — service, cleanliness and amenities — there is little to complain about and much to praise. Staff in the gatehouse were unfailingly cheerful, polite and helpful from arrival to check-out. Though my room's decor was dated, it was nevertheless immaculately clean and tidy and all amenities from the fridge to the wi-fi worked perfectly. The self-service breakfast is basic but very good, with a broad range of options. Staff here, again, were notable for their cheerful and friendly demeanour. Per management responses to previous reviews, the rooms are currently being re-fitted. This does mean there are workmen on-site during the day, but in my experience this didn't cause any disruption. A minor niggle is the lack of restaurants, convenience stores, etc. nearby, but that's hardly the hotel's fault. The hotel also seems to attract groups of obnoxious, drunk teenagers at the weekend, but in my experience this is common to many hotels in the US — even the expensive ones.

GDesq, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel and your kind words. This just comes to show you that you cannot trust every review you read online until you try it out for yourself. One's experience never does mirror another person's experience. Some people who have never stayed at extended stay hotels have a completely different view point and expectations when they enter the property. Hence some of those negative experiences. As you mentioned though, from time to time younger people who stay on the weekend sometimes DO do the wrong thing and ruin other peoples experience at their expense. This unfortunately, is unavoidable. All that we can do is be proactive at addressing these sort of incidents and hope that those who stay with us do the right thing. We are about half way done with our renovation and things are coming along very well. I can only hope that the next time your travels bring you back to the Sunnyvale area that you continue to choose your home away home here at the Residence Inn Silicon Valley II.

The hotel is in serious need of updating. Everything in the place is old and frankly the rooms smell bad. The carpet is sticky from all the cleaning spray; the AC makes terrible noise. The rooms are very dark and dreary. I tried to walk around to find food but there is nothing in the walking vicinity so you must have a car or Lyft. Marriott should be ashamed they're charging nearly $400 a night for this property. There is a management reception on some nights and breakfast every morning, I did not try these.

The rooms are really nice and cozy. Just enough amenities to make us feel at home. Chris Aguinaldo is the reason that will be returning many times he really stepped up when we needed help and make sure that we were taken care of. If this guy is not promoted within the next year, I will have to take it up with Marriott! Thanks Chris!
