This was our third stay and we look forward to returning again. Bissell House never disappoints. If you are looking for the perfect weekend getaway to relax, read books, and recharge this is the place. We happen to like the Victoria Room, while smaller, we find it quite quirky, delightful and love the view of the pool. After a long day at the Huntington how wonderful to return to an extraordinary collection of exotic teas and to sit on the wide verandah and gaze at the garden. Arriving back from dinner we were delighted to see the fire blazing and the sound of classical music. So peaceful to sit with a bottle of wine, a book by the fire to round out the day. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. We look forward to returning again.

What a lovely and relaxing experience I had at the Bissell House. Came here to get away for the night and explore the Pasadena area. I loved the afternoon tea that was offered to me upon arrival and a lovely glass of Presecco. Sweet cozy & comfortable home feel with the fireplace going and fresh roses in the entry way, I notice the small details as I enter places, and that was a sweet touch. I stayed in the Prince Albert room with a glorious bath tub and noticed the Lather brand toiletries, which included a lavender bath bomb. I had the most incredible sleep on one of the most comfortable mattresses and pillows I’ve slept on in a long time. However my most favorite part was decadent and delicious breakfast that was served. Wow, fresh squeezed orange juice from their garden to the quiche that was so good I had to get the recipe and of course try to remake it... but I’ll just come back hopefully soon to have it again since mine was not as fluffy as they made it. I just loved this place so much, it felt like a warm inviting home that you don’t want to leave and can’t wait to come back to. Thank you for an incredible visit, I simply cannot wait to be back.

The area and the hotel are such a dramatic break from the LA scene. There is so much character in every room. I worked while here and modern stuff like wifi and fresh herbal teas are also excellent. Sitting in the library on my laptop at nights with a glass of wine and classical music playing was fabulous. I’d work here all year if I could. Breakfast was beautifully presented and filling. Coffee was available 24/7. The area is also worth exploring. Some fabulous houses to ogle in the streets either side of Arroyo Park.

House is an absolute delight. We loved the library and living room. Afternoon tea being available was a real treat. We stayed in Morning Glory which is on the top floor, but the a/c worked well and the room was spacious. Bed and pillows were wonderful. Shower is in an original claw foot tub and is difficult to get in and out of and I didn't really feel safe as you don't have something to grab on to if it is slippery. Breakfast was just ok, but served beautifully in a lovely dining room. I hope to visit again, but will probably ask for another room with less street noise and an easier shower arrangement.

Room Tip: Try not to stay in a room on the Orange Grove Ave side if car and motorcycle noise bother you.
