The Inn at Knowles Hill is terrific. Rhonda is an outstanding chef and creates the most fabulous breakfast. The service is outstanding. Between Rhonda and Megan, you are made to feel very special and they deliver a friendly atmosphere. Last but not least, Fred is a gem of a man. Definitely planning a return family trip

We had one of the best hotel/B&B experiences we have ever had! We thought it would be nice but it was so much more than we could have anticipated. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique, relaxing and a great food experience. The B&B is a beautiful and historic large property with cats, ducks, fountains and roses on it. The house is filled with beautiful and interesting antiques and the rooms are very comfortable. The owners that run the property are very warm and inviting and run it with a personal and chic touch. The gourmet breakfasts in the morning are beyond anything you could get most places or restaurants with it only being similar to possibly my brunch at the Palace Hotel. There is much to do exploring the surrounding Gold Rush towns and Yosemite is not far away. Great experience!!!!!

When you come, set aside your mornings for the breakfast! This B&B Inn served two of the best formal breakfasts I think I have ever had in all my long life and all my world travels. I am not exaggerating. The beautiful table service was actually surpassed by the beautiful plating and presentation of the multi-course breakfast. The fruit was fabulous and all the berries were full-flavored like I remember berries are supposed to taste. My party included diet requirements of gluten-free and vegan and their breakfasts were just as fabulous and the requirements carefully attended to make sure everyone had a wonderful experience. The mansion was built in 1927 and the rooms were richly decorated accordingly with character and some whimsey. If you're a history buff, you'll really enjoy all this historic house has to offer. Some of the Christmas decorations were still up, I'll have to come back during the season next time, because it must have been something to behold.

The Knowles Hill B&B is a delightful stay. Stayed here passing through Sonora for an overnight stay. The mansion is posted on the top of a hill overlooking the town of Sonora. Being on top of the hill means a drive up a long single-lane road, making it too far and steep from historic downtown Sonora to walk. Nevertheless, the mansion is historic and classic Edwardian style from the 1920s and features many of the original handcraftsmanship in both the interiors and exteriors. From the initial greeting to checkout, service is always rendered with a smile and a friendly demeanor, and you feel like a welcomed guest. We arrived around 4pm, checked into our room, and settled in. The pictures on the Inn's web site were true to reality. The room had adequate facilities (bed, private bathroom, electrical outlets, WIFI, etc.), a TV with internet connectivity (Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. but no cable service), tables, etc. The bed was really tall, but fitted with a small stepstool to help one get aboard. We then spent about an hour on the patio looking out over the city and enjoyed a glass of wine (that we had brought ourselves). Geese were snacking on the nearby lawn and the patio had an assortment of cats, some quite friendly, belonging to the Inn. Breakfast was perfect with a delicious poached pear appetizer followed by an egg Florentine with sausage. Really couldn't be better. All in all, this is an excellent inn with quality facilities and staffing. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a couple and or family friendly place. Super cute rooms and the old time atmosphere makes it perfect for a long weekend in gold country. It’s also the first time we’ve had a two course breakfast that they kindly enough also managed to make vegan. Very few places do. Kids also LOVED their breakfast (see pictures). Delicious!!

I recently visited Knowles Hill after laying my father to rest as a place for getting through some grief. Rhonda the Inn Keeper was so kind and nurturing as I was walking through it. The grounds were beautiful and a place with beautiful sunsets and sunrises. And the food!!! Be prepared for incredible breakfasts and coffee.

We stayed on the way to Yosemite. What an excellent find! Charming original 1927 details with modern touches. Super comfortable beds. Large suite available for our large family. Outside cats and dogs for the kids to play with. Breakfast was legitimately gourmet.

This is a lovely home, made all the more charming by Rhonda and Megan. I can’t imagine coming to Sonora and not staying here. We’ve now been in the Segerman and Hoover rooms. They are both good and pretty much interchangeable. I’m sure the other rooms are nice too.
