Alisal is the best place in the world! My family (including me) has been going for 66 years. We love it, and now my son goes with me; he has gone since he was 3 weeks old! I personally have been through two husbands as well as a lifetime of work!
The Alisal is such an amazing getaway. The rooms are cozy with wood burning fireplaces, the food is to die for, and both the golf and horseback riding, among others, are unforgettable experiences. The staff was incredibly kind, humorous, and concierge worked overtime with me to make our engagement unforgettable (she said yes). Already planning our next visit!
my family and i come every year, in fact it is our 40th anniversary! the activities are great and the staff everywhere is so warm and welcoming. perfect for kids and adults, they have the spa, fitness center and horseback riding. their pool is extremely clean and nice, the hot tub as well. the bar has very fast service and good drinks. the breakfast and inner food is off the hook. it’s amazing. the wagon’ younger serves great food as well but their might be a longer wait than some other activities or dining. overall alisal is an amazing place for a vacation!
A gorgeous property with individual cottages and so many activities! Everyone who works there seems to truly care about each and every guest. We met so many families who return year after year. The food was wonderful as the room rate includes your breakfast, dinner and drinks. We were there to celebrate an anniversary so it is great for couples and families. We took the 2 hour horseback ride, 2 hour mountain bike ride, played golf at the next door course and used the gym all in 2 days! I highly recommend this as an easy getaway in a gorgeous setting with excellent staff. TIP: Make sure that you book all your activities as soon as you make your room reservation - the concierges are busy there.
Wow just wow! 2nd time visiting, and this place is magical. Juan in the restaurant made recommendations that were awesome along with the great service. Ask for him, he knows what to give you. The golf course staff has made great strides on the golf course quality. Golf course is greatly improved from my last visit. Arturo and Elliot keep up the good work! As always, enjoyed my visit and wished I could stay longer. So much to do, so little time....
We just had an incredible first family visit to Alisal Ranch. The weather in February was spectacular, clear, sunny, not too hot, a light breeze. Perfect for enjoying outdoor activities like a family hike up the canyon, beginner horseback trail ride, and archery. We loved our spacious and well appointed cabin and building cozy fires in the fireplace was an extra bonus. The food and service was wonderful, so many of the staff members have been working here for a long time and the service charge applied to the bill helps make them feel cared for. Many of the staff we spoke with expressed strong loyalty and even a sense of history with many family members who have worked for Alisal Ranch over the years. As soon as we returned home, we rebooked for the same weekend next year!
A near perfect 4 day stay at this amazing family oriented resort ranch. The accommodations were western themed, spacious and clean. The king sized bed was very comfortable. The reason I hesitated to give a 5 star review is due to the noise we heard from the adjoining unit which included a crying child the first 2 nights followed by a new tenant who had 2 barking dogs! I texted the front desk since there are no hotel phones to complain with, and they did resolve it but I never did find out what happened to the dog issue since dogs are forbidden. The food overall was well prepared and had a wide variety. We thoroughly enjoyed having family times over the various themed meals such as BBQ and ranch style breakfast. We also appreciated the chef for baking a special anniversary cake which was truly one of the best cakes ever! Overall, we were extremely impressed with the service personnel who were always greeting us and helpful. In particular, Rick went out of his way to help me connect my Tesla to the charger. Nice guy! We also want to cite Clare our wrangler during on our morning breakfast ride. She was such a pleasant person that we insisted she be in our family photos. Thanks, Clare! We will certainly be back. Highly recommend this ranch resort!…
Alisal Ranch is a low key resort with first class amenities and service. Staff were always polite and helpful. Very cozy comfortable rooms which were quiet and private. Excellent bar and restaurant. Delicious menu with a variety of choices. Loved the breakfast buffet.
I recently stayed at Alisal Ranch for the Unbridled Retreat in May. I was shocked that I hadn't heard of it before as I've visited Solvang many times over they years. It is truly a hidden gem. If you're ready to be whisked away back to a simpler time, ( no TV's or phones in the rooms) where your focus will be the outdoors and all the many activities they provide, 2 golf courses, tennis courts, full service Spa, cycling, hiking, a man made Lake with fishing, boating kayaking, Barn animal petting area, Horse back group trail riding for beginners, intermediate & advanced, Private horse rides, and my favorite the Adobe Breakfast ride where you can either ride a horse or take a hay wagon ride there for a full breakfast cook out in the Sycamore grove. I had the pleasure of meeting Head wrangler Meghan Taylor and her asst. head wrangler Beth at the retreat. They were so kind, knowledgable and made me feel so safe around the horses. During the retreat I booked myself a trail ride and was given "Jack" a very gentle sweet gelding who made my first time back on horse back in over 25 years such a delight! There are 109 horses on property. I also booked a massage in the Spa and I highly recommend Grace. She really took the time to listen to what and where I needed the pressure applied and I felt like I actually stood up straight again after. There are many guest rooms, suites & cottages to book from. What I loved was that breakfast, dinner, alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks were all included in the nightly rate. The food is INCREDIBLE! I wasn't expecting the quantity, quality or diversity of food. Breakfast (7-10am) & dinner(5:30-8:30pm) are in the Ranch room and its encouraged to "dress up" country casual for dinner which was fun. I loved that at breakfast there was a buffet of hot items, a coffee station, another cereal, fruit and pastry station plus a separate menu for other breakfast choices like Eggs benedict, Omelets, Avocado toast etc. The dinner menu is out of the world. Appetizer, soup/salad, main entree and dessert served every night. I was not prepared for how delicious everything would be so don't be fooled by the simple rustic decor this is fine dining level food. I had the best Ahi Tuna of my life and cannot stop thinking about it! I was also impressed with how there was always a vegan/vegatarian option and it was AMAZING! Next door to the Ranch room is the Oak room bar, a full service bar where they have a specialty cocktail nightly and live music. I didn't have lunch at Chuck wagon grill or golf course because a boxed lunch was included in the retreat. The Chuckwagon grill and another bar are located near the pool. I had originally booked a Superior Cottage ( Living room, w/Queen pullout, a single murphy bed, a separate bedroom with King and 1.5 bathrooms.) I was given Cottage #36 which is very popular for families because it's near the Play ground and pool. I realized once I got to the room that I needed a little more quiet and since I was traveling solo I really didn't need all the space that Cottage #36 provided. I noticed the set of rooms behind #36 across the little road that were bordering an expansive green lawn and huge tree. I checked with the front desk and they said they said those were the Golf view cottages and they had #44 available. I was so excited. They mentioned it was a downgrade because it was smaller but for me it was an upgrade because of how peaceful it was and it had plenty of space for me. A huge center room with King bed, 2 chairs near the wood burning fireplace, a desk at the window that looked out over the lawn, a separate back patio, a dressing area room with extra single bed ( perfect for laying out my huge suitcase ha!) mini coffee/tea station, huge sink and counter space and huge closet with comfy spa robes provided. A separate enclosed bathroom area with another sink, shower and soaking tub and toilet. I also LOVED that there are assigned parking spots for each cottage either right next to it or near it, so convenient for loading and unloading your car. I had such a terrific time that I extended my stay 2 extra days and at check out I booked another stay in December to bring my husband to enjoy the Ranch and all the holiday festivities and decorations! The 2 BEST features of this property are the views and the people who work here! Every employee I had contact with was so friendly and kind that I just got the feeling they feel like family and enjoy working here.…
We stayed at Alisal last weekend to attend a wedding and we were blown away by how awesome it was. The room was perfect with all the amenities you would hope for. The decor throughout the ranch resort was on point for a guest ranch without feeling fake or kitschy. We enjoyed every meal we had over the weekend and the service was 5-star. As I stated, we were there for a wedding and EVERYONE was raving about how beautiful and unique it was. We went on a morning horseback ride and I highly recommend it for the gorgeous views, beautiful well cared for horses, and professional wranglers/guides. We can't wait to book another visit and will try out some of the many other activities offered.
