All the cute Danish kitsch you could want on the outside. I was hoping for more in the room but not so much, instead being motel standard with some prints of the local Santa Ynez Mission on the wall. Our queen-bedded room was adequately sized, and had a fridge and microwave. There's very little bathroom counter space. Bath amenities include bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and lotion, bar soap, and body wash in a wall dispenser.

In October 2020, Santa Barbara County was partially reopening. We were pleasantly surprised at the Danishpastries, muffins, oatmeal, and coffee available for breakfast. They are also offering full housekeeping. There's a pool and hot tub. Parking is plentiful and free.

The location is outstanding. Go out the front or back, turn right or left, and you get all of Solvang's fun. If you're taking the bus to Los Olivos (much better option than driving) the stop is no more than a few hundred feet aw.ay

The King Frederik Inn is a classic motel, as many others in downtown Solvang. You park your car at the front door for the street level, anywhere close to the steps for the second level.

The swimming pool was operational, unlike some other motels in the area. The building we stayed in (across the parking lot) had nicely remodeled rooms with bullnose corners, fresh paint and decent furniture. The windows are dual pane to keep the noise out, as long as the maid does not leave the sliding part open, to allow traffic noise created by big trucks on highway 246 to wake you up.

One reason we chose this motel was the included breakfast which turned out to be no more than a small Danish roll, wrapped in plastic and/or a small paper coffee cup filled with dry cereal. One good thing was that there was coffee in the coffee machine most of the day. We ended up going to Paula's Pancake House (Mission Drive) one morning and the Solvang Restaurant (Copenhagen Drive) the following morning. Both are a few minutes walk from the motel and offer a fantastic breakfast.

Overall, we had a good stay.

Thanks for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We appreciate the compliments, and also appreciate you letting us know of the areas where we fell short. We try to advertise as complimentary breakfast rather than continental because we don't offer hot food. However, our pastries and muffins are delivered fresh daily from Olsen's Bakery. Warm Regards.

The King Fredrik Inn is so well located in the heart of Solvang that after checking in and parking our car, we did not need it until checking out two days later after a great stay. The rooms are impeccably clean in every square inch of our two queen bed room for my wife, son and I. The bathroom and shower were equally spotless throughout our stay. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. A continental breakfast is served each morning with freshly baked danish and muffins from an excellent local bakery - Olsen's- just down the street. Orange and apple juice are available in addition to coffee, hot chocolate and tea. The pool is a nice size but we did not use it. The King Fredrik Inn welcomes all guests warmly and without judgment- whether a family, a couple or singles. Many restaurants are within a few walkable blocks and the staff seemed knowledgable about them. We greatly enjoyed our visit and stay at The King Fredrik Inn.

The place is clean, well maintained. Has a swimming pool and jacuzzi. Offering a variety of condiments in the morning. Including coffee, danishes and drinks. Front desk check in was easy. Social distancing is being used. The only downfall was the noisy neighbors above us that were up until 2am. If you stay here, get a room upstairs so you're not having to listen to people like this. If visiting again would we stay here, probably yes. But definitely upstairs.

Overall, the check-in was easy and the staff very nice. The room and bathroom, including carpeting seemed nice and clean. The only thing I would ask is that the cleaning service wipe the fingermarks from around doorknobs and light switches. It is very convenient (walking distance) to downtown Solvang. We had a problem on the morning we left, with no hot water. We had to leave early, so we could not wait around for the heater to be fixed. But the manager was generous in compensating us for this. All in all, if and when we return to Solvang, we would stay here again.

This is in a great central location. Roda at the front desk was capable and friendly. However, our room had urine soaked into the carpet. They sent someone to clean it up, but when we talked to them about it the next day, they basically said they did everything they could. Nope. There was urine on the floor, just repeating. The manager was supposed to call me. Never did. No customer service discount. No checking in. So...I would highly reccomend staying somewhere else. I mean there was (just going to say it again) urine on the floor and the way they handled that was not great. Also, the rooms don't look like the pictures. Now, I'll be curious to see if they respond to this in a better way than they responded to me in person.

We really enjoyed our stay and the King Frederick Inn in beautiful Solvang. The hotel is in the perfect location, right in the middle of town. Room has the coffee pot, microwave and fridge. Comfortable. Hot tub and pool on property. The complimentary pastries come from the famous Olsens bakery in town. Staff was courteous and helpful. Loved our stay

My husband booked this hotel for me and my best friend so I could have a girls trip with her. I am so glad I picked this hotel! I really enjoyed my stay. Room and bathroom were very clean and has a refrigerator and microwave oven. Location was great and convenient to walk around with lots of restaurants and shops to eat and shop (spent too much money on shopping! 😁). Hotel staff were great, pleasant and friendly! I did like their breakfast too especially their pastries!

On my last night at the hotel, I was awakened by the people who checked in next to my room late at night at about 11:35 pm or so and they were so noisy and woke me up and I tried to tolerate until I couldn’t anymore and had to call the front desk to complain about the noise at about 1:30 am. Front desk staff was outside their room immediately to tell them about the noises they were making. That is what I call a good hotel who cares for their guests!!! Great job on hiring excellent and professional staff. If I were to go to Solvang again, I won’t be checking reviews on other hotels there cause I will definitely be staying at King Frederik Inn again and will recommend this hotel to my family and friends!

I made this reservation weeks in advance. We checked in on time and I asked for a ground floor room and was told there were none available, as they were “ fully booked” so we had to take a second floor room and there’s no elevator. Ugh. After lugging our bags up two flights, the room they gave us was so bad. Only one high window overlooking an outside corridor, no light in the room, very claustrophobic. The only consolation was the room was clean. Won’t stay here again.

Location is perfect. After a long day you can easily walk to a wine tasting or dinner or even come in for a weekend and have everything near by and not have to drive. Rooms are not fancy but are clean and beds are comfortable. Rooms over looking the pool seem to be lighter and have balconies big enough to sit and have morning coffee.
