Clean quiet and well appointed hotel with a heated outdoor pool and hot tub. Friendly staff. Continental breakfast was modest but delicious danishes. Located in a really quaint village renowned for Danish heritage. This was a fantastic place to visit in winter.
The King Fredrik Inn is so well located in the heart of Solvang that after checking in and parking our car, we did not need it until checking out two days later after a great stay. The rooms are impeccably clean in every square inch of our two queen bed room for my wife, son and I. The bathroom and shower were equally spotless throughout our stay. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. A continental breakfast is served each morning with freshly baked danish and muffins from an excellent local bakery - Olsen's- just down the street. Orange and apple juice are available in addition to coffee, hot chocolate and tea. The pool is a nice size but we did not use it. The King Fredrik Inn welcomes all guests warmly and without judgment- whether a family, a couple or singles. Many restaurants are within a few walkable blocks and the staff seemed knowledgable about them. We greatly enjoyed our visit and stay at The King Fredrik Inn.…
Just planned our second trip to King Fred’s. Never thought my snobby husband would be o.k. with a motel, but he thoroughly enjoyed our last stay (especially the fresh pastries in the morning). As others have said, King Fred’s location is fabulous! Everything is within walking distance. And there’s a newish shopping area across the street that has a lovely wine shop/tasting room and a fabulous cheese shop. This is one of our new favorite weekend getaways.
Since I usually stay at franchise hotels, I wasn’t expecting much at King Frederik Inn - and I was thrilled to see how well kept it is. The staff was quite helpful and the room was spotless! Sure, it’s an older motel but recent changes were noticed AND appreciated! It’s amazing what a new mattress, fresh paint, and a large television will do for a room! Yes, a large tv! Situated right on the Main Street, everything was walkable. The pool was large and had plenty of poolside seating. Parking right next to the building was nice as well.
In this cute Danish town of Solvang, the King Frederick Inn is a charming hotel right in the middle of everything. Perfect location! The rooms were comfortable, the hot tub was relaxing, the morning pastry was tasty, and we were happy to be there.
Great location. Lots of free parking. This hotel checked all the boxes for an overnighter. We walked everywhere. Restaurants, shops and bakeries were all steps away. 10 minute drive to Chumash Casino and Ostrichland. Pool and jacuzzi closes at 9pm. Danish pastries and individually packed oatmeal for breakfast. Towels were surprisingly fluffy. Obviously an old establishment and needs a refresh but with the $ we paid and its location, we were satisfied. It’s a 2-story building - no elevator. Solvang is so charming! More trips & pix on IG: @i_therefore_conclude
I made this reservation weeks in advance. We checked in on time and I asked for a ground floor room and was told there were none available, as they were “ fully booked” so we had to take a second floor room and there’s no elevator. Ugh. After lugging our bags up two flights, the room they gave us was so bad. Only one high window overlooking an outside corridor, no light in the room, very claustrophobic. The only consolation was the room was clean. Won’t stay here again.
This is our second time in many years. Reception was great. On a major street and noisy. Nice pool, good rates, clean room. Sunday night quieted down by 9 pm. Close to everything. Bring ear plugs. Bummer that the gardeners on another property started blowers at 0700! Continental breakfast but we went elsewhere for a real breakfast. Walking distance to many restaurants and cafes, bakeries, wine tasting, downtown.
Location is perfect. After a long day you can easily walk to a wine tasting or dinner or even come in for a weekend and have everything near by and not have to drive. Rooms are not fancy but are clean and beds are comfortable. Rooms over looking the pool seem to be lighter and have balconies big enough to sit and have morning coffee.
Overall, the check-in was easy and the staff very nice. The room and bathroom, including carpeting seemed nice and clean. The only thing I would ask is that the cleaning service wipe the fingermarks from around doorknobs and light switches. It is very convenient (walking distance) to downtown Solvang. We had a problem on the morning we left, with no hot water. We had to leave early, so we could not wait around for the heater to be fixed. But the manager was generous in compensating us for this. All in all, if and when we return to Solvang, we would stay here again.
