I expected the worst based upon other reviews & can happily say I loved my 2-day stay over Christmas. The hotel had a wonderful Christmasy atmosphere of old with a Christmas tree, roaring fires in the fireplaces, & the smell of mulled wine. Christmas dinner was delicious. Breakfasts were also good; we were always lucky & nabbed the table in...

We stopped in at the Rainbow Lodge for a late lunch and were met by courteous staff and served an excellent meal. Apparently the lodge and Royal Gorge are currently owned by some bank while the property is being offered for sale, but this in no way detracted from a completely enjoyable experience. The lodge itself is solidly built of...

The waitress blessed us with her presence, took the order and we waited, and waited. When meals were delivered, ouch! We all ordered burgers cooked differently, they were all the same, gray, dry, overcooked hockey pucks. We did get a dry, day old toasted bun and condiments, along with limp, greasy fries. All this for $13.95 each. We blame ourselves...

We have been to The Rainbow Lodge several times over the years, (once for my 40th birthday), and have always enjoyed it. This time we rented the Family Suite since we had two teenagers with us. The room is so quaint and cute, it feels like you have travelled back in time. There are no ceiling fans, no window screens,...

This is the first time I have ever wrote a negative review for a hotel, so I don't "complain" much. For 15 years this used to be one of our favorite places, but no more. When we got back to our room the 2nd night of our 2 night stay, which was New Years Eve, ( and needless to say...

Our first ever snowshoe trip in the Royal Gorge was cancelled by REI due to bad weather with severe storm warning. The organizer suggested re-scheduling our trip but Rainbow Lodge refused to transfer our 2-night hotel reservation (which we had already paid in full and weren't even asked for a refund of the $400+!). In fact, when we called to...

There was a good effort by some of the staff. However they were amateurish and unprepared for their jobs. Everything that could go wrong did. Hotel reservations were lost. Dinner was almost cancelled. It was sad as we have stayed there many times in the past. It is in decline and in dire need of new management from top to...

Recently I made reservations for 3 adults and 1 baby to have Thanksgiving Dinner at the Rainbow Lodge Restaurant. We have been there many times including holiday dinners and have had enjoyable experiences. This time however, was the experience from hell! When I made the reservation, I specifically asked what the price was per person for the Thanksgiving meal. I...

Our families (4 adults, 3 teens, 2 kids) had Thanksgiving dinner here after a long hike nearby. We've been lucky enough to enjoy many memorable dining experiences, but this ranks with the best. Beautiful turn-of the-century rustic stone and wood architecture; warm and cozy (fireplace(s) blazing) dining, bar, and lounge areas;lovely views; attentive, warm and folksy service; unexpectedly fabulous dinner...

I felt the need to write a review on the Rainbow lodge, since all people seem to do these days is COMPLAIN!! It DOES state on the menu that there is a $3.50 charge for splitting meals, it also states that a gratuity will be added for parties of 6 or more. The food is EXCELLENT! The place is BEAUTIFUL...
