I loved this place...it was sparkling clean. Rooms were not fancy and sure the decor is outdated but I have stayed in fancier more modern places that were not so clean as this place. Bed was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There are some nice walking trails and a decent swim spot within walking distance. 15 minutes from the beautiful lakes in the area, Upper Sardine is my favorite. Dog friendly with a huge meadow across the street with dog bags and a trash can. I thought the food at the restaurant was quite good, they accommodated my dietary needs and let me modify the pasta. I don't eat meat so can't say if anything else was good but I was happy. All staff wore masks and there was sanitizer on every table, way more diligent than a fancier hotel I recently stayed at in the area. Again, cleanliness was A+ My only very minor issues: the screen door of room 5 was broken and kept falling off the track, but it was nice to have this room because wifi was available and it was nice to sit on the porch and people watch and social distance chat with people eating dinner, plus the nice view of the buttes. Wifi does NOT work in the rooms closer to the river but I didn't mind disconnecting at all. Maybe offer one more vegetarian/vegan meal option :) there was only pasta but it was very good the power went out, it was a planned outage for high winds (totally necessary in this awful wildfire season) but I was not notified. A little scary when you've seen too many horror movies! But someone promptly answered the after hours phone and let me know it was planned. Would've just been nice to know so I could grab my headlamp from my car and charge up my phone for a back up flashlight. Love this place and I'll definitely return in the near future

My friends and I were woken out of a dead sleep at 3:30 AM by the loudest, longest siren I have ever heard. It was terrifying! We ran out of our rooms along with other guests at the hotel. No cell service or phone in the room. We went to the office but no one was there! None of us knew whether there was a fire and if we needed to evacuate. There had been some big, recent fires in the area. I finally got through to the Sheriffs office and found out they were alerting their volunteer fire department for a medical emergency! It would have been nice if the owners warned us that could happen when we checked in....or post a notice in the room to avoid panic. It’s days later and I still feel traumatized! The only thing good I can say is the food was good and ample portions. Rooms are basic with no extras. It’s old and needs updating. We reserved a room that had a view of a waterfall that was suppose to be lit up at night and it wasn't. You could barely see the waterfall. There is a pond where kids can catch trout. Not enough to make me want to stay again!

We just returned from spending a few nights at Sierra Pines Resort. We are in the middle of Covid but we were so impressed with how the staff and hands on workin owners handled the situation. First of all, they allowed an extra hour beyond the required time between check out and check in to insure that the rooms are properly cleaned and sanitized; this made us feel very safe and comfortable. Secondly, they moved their dining outside but still offered the full menu and excellent service. The outside dining was amazing! The view of the Sierra Buttes, the fresh mountain air, the sound of water from their trout pond and the attentive staff, and delicious homemade food and desserts all made this the best outside dining we've experienced during Covid. The Sierra Buttes area has something for everyone: hiking, fishing, swimming, bicycling or just relaxing and enjoying nature and Sierra Pines is the perfect place to experience it all!
