Detailed Reviews
Our family stayed in the Mojave Bunk House with all of the amenities of the Shoshone Inn. The rental had all of the comforts of home, beautiful decorations, and brand new appliances and furniture. The bedrooms are large, bathrooms fully stocked with necessities, and a large bar area and kitchen table with plenty of room for the entire group! Our family enjoyed the large front porch and gazing at the stars each evening. The staff was friendly and helpful and checked in with us each day to be sure our family was enjoying our rental and the village of Shoshone. The breakfast at the Crow Bar cannot be missed, as well as a visit to the museum, and the pup fish trail. The spring water pool is always a family favorite when we visit and we also enjoy a stop by the market for ice cream! The comfort of Shoshone is a must. Even though it is a small town, you are greeted with friendly smiles, hospitality, and a sense of peace that is unique to this special town.

It was late and starting to rain; we had to stop somewhere and the ONLY place was the Shoshone Inn. We lucked out. It was sold out except for the studio type stand-alone building and the "bunkhouse". We took the studio and it was lovely, newly renovated, big bathroom, full kitchen, queen bed, roll-away bed and a pull out. It was pouding rain and the roof leaked, so they moved us to the "Bunk House" - WOW! You could sleep about 20 people if you had too. Two bedrooms with two queen size beds in each; washer/dryer and an open kitchen/diningroom/living room. It was new, clean, well furnished and quiet. A short walk to the private warm springs and the restaurant and everything else. The deck was perfect for an afternoon nap, fully furnished with dining table, and deck chairs. We loved it so much we adjusted our plans and enjoyed Shoshone for an extra day.

Thanks for your review. Lucky you - not only did you get to experience the uniqueness of rain in the desert but had the Mojave Bunkhouse all to yourselves! It is quite a stunning, incredibly spacious airbnb and so glad you took advantage of an extra day to enjoy it. Hope you'll come back with all your friends in the future!

We were looking for an overnight stop between Las Vegas and Death Valley and were delighted to find this little gem. Although the footprint is of a traditional roadside motel, it's been beautiful renovated with high-end fixtures and tile work and provides little bags of high-end amenities for a spa touch. The rooms are small, but the beds are comfortable with lots of fluffy pillows.
For us, though, the real reason to visit was that the proprietors have helped not only sustain the town but restore ponds and wetlands that are home to two unique and endangered species, the Shoshone pupfish and the Amargosa vole. Even if you're hurrying to your next destination, be sure to pop down the street to the restored area, next to the swimming pool. Their you'll find lovely warm spring-fed pools housing a subspecies of the frisky little pupfish found nowhere else on earth. The little town offers everything you need for a stopover, including the Crowbar Cafe (with good food and beer). Starting from Shoshone also allows you to take the scenic route into Death Valley, making it a delightful way to start your trip.

Shoshone is a tiny town, population 12 (literally). They have one motel and one restaurant and not much else. We pulled up to the "Inn" and it looked very "rustic" from the outside. We weren't expecting much but were pleasantly surprised by the room which was recently renovated and actually very nice. It was a little tight for four people but the beds were decent (though they were 'full' beds not queen and were a little short) and the room had a separate sink outside of the bathroom and the shower had a really nice showerhead :) The room had a coffee maker, small fridge and a microwave. They also have access to a spring-fed, naturally heated swimming pool that's up the road about 1/4 mile. Really my only issue is the price. At well over $150/night this was significantly more expensive then anywhere else we stayed on our trip.

Thanks for the review, John. We're sorry you thought it was too pricey, however, we pride ourselves as being an affordable alternative to staying in Death Valley National Park where rates begin at close to $200. In any case, we certainly appreciate your feedback!

This is a lovely hotel in a very out-of-the way corner of California. The rooms are newly remodeled, with lots of electrical outlets, a pleasant bathroom, pretty decor and an efficiency kitchen (fridge, microwave, plates, glasses, etc). The people who run it are lovely to deal with, and it has a remarkable restored wetland with a great hiking trail on site. We didn't have time to sample the pool heated by a hot spring.
If you are there on a weekend, be sure to see if there is a show at the Shoshone Opera House, about 30 minutes north.
This is the real, old California, brought up to date.

Thanks so much for your lovely and thoughtful review. We pride ourselves on being an out-of-the-way yet self-contained Village convenient to all the area splendors. The Opera House has great entertainment for a remote area so thanks for mentioning that, we will add a link so guests can see details about the performances. We hope to see you again in the future and thanks again.

Shoshone Inn is a great place for a night or 3, but just down the road is a terrific 'warm' spring that flows into an old school concrete pool, making for a complete experience.
Along with your room key, you will also get a key to the gate at the pool, so access is limited to people staying at the adjoining RV Park and people staying at the Inn.
For hot/warm spring enthusiasts, the water comes in in the high 90's- so very comfortable and cool enough for a relaxing soak. It is a bathing suit scene.
It is a long walk to the spring, which will take you past a very fine nature trail and a school. Do take the time to chat with the delightful folks who manage the place.
Back to the Inn and the jumping action of downtown Shoshone(!), there is a decent cafe across the street, and a gas station/souvenir place with very limited groceries (mainly snacks and beer) next door.
Of note - there is a good air hose behind the store if you need tire air - and you may get cell service if outside and very patient. The Inn has WiFi, but the range is limited.
As others have noted, it is a great access point to Death Valley if you plan to drive in from the south and avoid the crowds till you get to Badwater, etc.

This has to be a highlight of our California trip last summer, a place that I doubt I will forget and the place my husband always talks about. The temperature was great, the sky at night was incredible (the best place I have captured the Milky Way on camera). You don’t have a lot of choice when you want to stay in the area unless you want to travel and after a day in Death Valley we didn’t want to travel far, so we booked a stop here in advance and absolutely loved it. We tried the hot springs swimming pool up the road, and had an incredible nights sleep. From the outside it looks like a 1950s motel, you know that iconic U shaped image, but inside we were totally amazed with the very modern interior, beautifully decorated and so comfortable. I wished we could have stayed longer. Shoshone is not very big with a great bar/restaurant, a shop, a petrol station and the friendliest post office. The highlight of the stay was the receptionist who gave us a history talk on check in, which was fabulous and the best check in experience I have experienced.

We needed a place to stay overnight before visiting Death Valley and we loved our overnight stay here! Very clean rooms, comfy bed and pillows and friendly reception. The inn was competently remodeled and looks almost brand new. The pillow spray, lotions and lip balm left on the bed were a nice touch. The tiny kitchenette came in handy as well as the tea and coffee maker. We wished we would have had more time to explore the surrounding area. If we ever make it back we will definitely stay here! Thank you for a very lovely stay!

Looks like an old roadside motel at first glance, but the rooms are really very nice inside. Pillows on the bed were too hard but that's often a problem with motels. We stayed there before and used the warm water mineral pool but were too tired on arrival this time, so thought we would go in the morning before leaving...no luck, pool is closed Wednesday until 2pm for cleaning. Also I'd booked a kitchenette so I could make grilled cheese sandwiches and soup for dinner, but the kitchenette turned out to be only a microwave and minifridge and sink. No stove, unlike the kitchenette in the room we stayed in at Tecopa Hot Springs (Delight's) on another trip. Oh well. So we went to the cafe across the street which was good. But be aware of those two things, the kitchenette is not really useful, and the pool is not open Wednesday mornings.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise! I have to admit when we pulled up we weren’t too sure; however, once we were checked in we were blown away. The rooms are very well done with incredible detail that you rarely find in some top notch hotels/resorts. The beds are comfortable, the showers are amazing, and the toiletries provided are unparalleled.
Pam who checked us in was so nice and pleasant, she gave us a little history on the Inn and town. The rooms were very quiet and so clean.
The restaurant across the street had good food which hit the spot!
Very convenient to Death Valley which allowed us an early entry into the park for our trip.

It does seem there was a charging station beside the motel, where the bus stop and restaurant were.
Hi Raymond,
Thanks for your inquiry and sorry for the delay. We have a community fire pit but we require that you pay for an RV or tent spot. Please let me know if we may be of further assistance. Thanks again for your interest in Shoshone Village.
There are no pet allowed.
Hi Russell. I just noticed your question. Typically our stargazing is phenomenal. We do not have any type of city light to obstruct the view. Most nights are incredibly clear. And it is usually beautiful outside. If you are a guest of either the Shoshone Inn or The Shoshone RV Park you can enjoy a swim in our Hot springs pool. Which is an amazing way to watch the stars.
The front desk is open until 10:00 pm. After that we would not be able to accommodate guests. Thank you for your question.
