Panoramic San Francisco Bay views are the signature of The Inn Above Tide. This intimate Sausalito waterfront hotel with 31 rooms and suites is a magnificent location for a uniquely inspiring luxury retreat. Chic and understated interiors lead to simply mesmerizing views from the private furnished room decks. Sited directly on SF Bay, every room has sweeping views of the bay, city skyline, Alcatraz, Angel Island and Marin. The spectacular but brief ferry ride to SF is mere steps from the hotel. Intimately connected to the village of Sausalito, yet magically separated due to its bay front setting, The Inn Above Tide is a minute’s stroll to galleries, restaurants and shops. The scenic vineyards of Sonoma and Napa are just a short drive north.

We’ve stayed in many fine lodgings over the years. Last Saturday was the first time my wife ever exclaimed “Wow!” upon entering the Vista Suite. Later she confessed it was the 220° view and flowers in the room. So enamored was she with the room that we spent most of Sunday out on the deck watching the Blue Angels and vowing to return, high prices and all. Granted, this is more of a junior suite as there is no formal division between sitting and sleeping areas. But there is plenty of space (over 700’) to spread out. The bathroom is large and is one of the very few to have a walk-in shower. Given the constant drought in California, more lodgings should either install or convert existing tubs to showers. One of the more unusual aspects of this room is the lighting or rather the switches. We enjoyed the challenge of figuring out the mechanics involved and were rewarded by mastering it all by checkout. Full bottles of wine and two cheese plates were delivered according to the chosen time (between 5 and 7 pm). Room service breakfast is required throughout the pandemic, but there are menus from which to choose. Yes, the quiche varies each day, and fresh squeezed orange juice is excellent. But I wish management would provided more choice of cereals. Other than a very small bowl of granola, there is no choice. Steel cut oatmeal would be welcome. The SF Chronicle is delivered daily to the door along with the day’s agenda. There are some truly unique sites and outings suggested. But the hardest decision might be leaving the inn for the day: it is so tempting just to lounge about. In fact many guests do just that! This has been our tenth visit, the first being shortly after the inn opened. We look forward to our next.

Rooms are a bit dated but clean and in good shape; anyway, the balcony over the bay more than makes up for it. Hotel staff is top-notch: professional and accommodating. Perfect complement to a day sailing on the bay!

OK, in my 62 years on this earth and over a thousand days in hotel rooms, this is one of my top 3 rooms, stays and experiences of all time. The room was just plain spectacular, huge with the an awesome bathroom, office setup, very comfortable bed and furnishings, THE best shower EVER. But the location and views were even more spectacular than the room. from the shower, Jacuzzi Tub, desk, bed you viewed the bay through a full wall of windows. Tiburon, Angle Island, Alcatraz, the Bay Bridge, the Golden Gate and of course San Fransico's full skyline, all opened up right in front of us. The big spacious deck with comfortable furnishings, which hangs out over the water, was the perfect spot to watch seals play just feet away, seagulls, an occassional jellyfish floating by, sailboats, freighters, fishing boats, Yachts, swimmers and kayaks, which seemed to roll by right past us. Then they brought some wine, cheese and snacks, for us to watch the amazing sunset, which turned to SF lights that night. I found myself up at 2am. on a lounge chair on the deck, while my wife slept soundly, looking at the light of the bridges, San Francisco and of course the brillaint stars. Only surpassed by an even more amazing experience with breakfast, watching the sunrise over angle Island. We got a months worth of vacation in 24 hours. Relaxing, recharging, a really, really fantastic stay.....period!

I needed a vacation get away from my environment and The Inn Above Tide fit the bill perfectly. A wonderful staff, glorious views and comfy beds made my stay very pleasant. My favorite part was being upgraded to an amazing corner suite with endless views. Oh, and the breakfast was great, too! I would definitely return.

We loved the Inn Above Tide. Their location in Sausalito is the best, with jaw-dropping views of the bay, the city, and Angel Island. It's within walking distance to a number of good restaurants (caution: Sausalito shuts down early, so get to dinner by 7:30 or 8:00). Our suite had a huge bathtub and a deck with the above-mentioned views. Bvlgari shampoos and conditioners were a plus for us. The bed was marvelous, we never wanted to leave it. They don't have big room-service options, but they do have a really nice expanded continental breakfast, which they wheel into your room in the morning. Also, they have a wine-and-cheese hour in the early evening, and during COVID times, they're bringing that to your room as well. The staff were the real stars of the show, though. Every single person we met was perfectly helpful; and not one single person made one single error the whole time, even though we called more than once to change our reservation. They're just simply nice people, in addition to being so efficient. We thought they were the greatest. If you're planning a trip to SF or Marin County, consider this one! Fine hotel.
