This review is long overdue and I regret waiting so long to post it but the truth needs to be told about this place. This hotel is beautiful. It’s peaceful. It’s the perfect getaway. It was the perfect get away for more than a decade for my family and I until our last visit in late October 2020. The general manager is Julio. My husband and I checked in when we first met Julio. When we walked into the hotel entrance we initially thought he was a guest since he was drinking a glass of whiskey in the foyer. When we realized he was the manager, my husband asked him for a small table or desk to be brought into our room so that he could put in some work hours during our stay. The table was never brought to us nor an explanation given as to why he wasn’t able to accommodate our request. We didn’t see him again until we checked out which was a few days later. The morning of our check out, I was having breakfast out on the hotel veranda. It was about 10:40 am when I happened to ask one of the servers what time check out was. She told me noon. When I finished I walked past the front lobby where Julio was standing and I had confirmed with him that the check out time was in fact noon as I was just told. He replied that it was at 11am. I was pretty surprised and told him that another employee of the hotel just told me it was noon. He firmly replied i would need to check out in the next 20 mins. It’s important to note that He was checking out other guests at this time. I asked if my husband and I could have until noon to check out. He said no. I explained that we had been repeat guests of the hotel and have stated multiple times over the years. His reply to this was “Well if you have stayed so many times before you should know what time check out is.” The guests he was checking out witnessed our conversations and they asked him why they were made to check out early too. Our email confirmation that we received from the hotel when we initially made our reservation boasted a late check out time of 1pm. After he insulted me he finally agreed to “allow” my husband and I to check out at noon. Today, I happened to see that he is still employed at the hotel from an Instagram post. I added a comment regarding the disappointing service I received and the response from the hotels Instagram page was to block my Instagram profile from being able to view the hotels Instagram page. We’ve spent an annual average each time we visit about $1200.00 just for the stay. This is a 4 star hotel and I was given very poor service. I’m appalled by the treatment I received and we will not be staying here again at least not until they hire a different general manager. It really is a shame. Please do better Santa Ynez Inn. Your loyal customers do not deserve to be treated this way.☹️

A fantastic find! We wanted to stay in a small town not far from Santa Barbara and this seemed perfect. And it was. A beautiful property with wonderful rooms, super comfortable beds, large bathrooms, a beautiful room for breakfast (which was delicious), and a 5 minute walk to a number of excellent restaurants for dinner. We loved it!

Very nice establishment. Beautiful rooms, beautiful grounds. Have someone explain the shower controls if you stay in the upgraded rooms. Need an engineer to figure it out! Staff not as accommodating as they could be for this price point

The Santa Ynez Inn is a wonderful hotel; luxurious in every way. The amenities are great and the daily included breakfast is just the best. Be aware though, there is no on-site restaurant for lunch or dinner. It is not cheap ... but the experience for special occasions is most definitely worth it and its proximity to all thing Santa Ynez is just perfect.
