Hotel E is a new Greystone luxury boutique hotel ideally located in the iconic beaux-arts building on the recently restored Old Courthouse Square in downtown Santa Rosa. For our stay, we valeted our car because everything in downtown was within easy walking distance of the hotel, making it an ideal location.

Probably the best feature of Hotel E is its lobby. It is a mix between a wine bar and a modern living room of an inn. They have a huge selection of wines by the glass or bottle with a cool setting to enjoy it.

We stayed in a premium king room with an oversized bathroom and a walk-in shower. There were also bathrobes, slippers, and a garment steamer for our use. We love pet frienly hotels. Unfortunately, we were not traveling with our babies Max and Molly, because Hotel E is pet-friendly.

The Hotel E turned out to be the perfect place for my overnight stay in Santa Rosa (hubby’s not so swell as his was at the nearby hospital!).
Originally the Courthouse it is well situated with easy access to shopping, restaurants and yes, medical facilities. Initially I rejected it as there did not appear to be parking other than valet however on getting a good rate for the room the added $16 day for valet parking brought it up to what other places (with free parking) were charging. You can in fact park at the meters on the Courthouse Square, they are free overnight, I believe from 6pm till 9am and there is a parking garage fairly close - which is where your car will be valet parked. As your vehicle is not on site it is requested you give them about 15 mins heads up to retrieve it although they had mine back to me in just a few minutes.
I was a little early for the 3pm check in and my room not quite ready so I sat in the reception lobby/bar area. Later it was nice to relax there with a glass of wine. The staff here were extremely friendly and helpful, as were all staff I encountered.
I had a corner room on the 2nd floor, nothing fantastic view wise but big windows on 2 sides made it nice and light & airy. While not a huge room it certainly served my purpose and was extremely clean and had all the amenities I needed. The closet contained a garment steamer, shoe horn, slippers & flashlight. A safe was in one of the drawers; a Keurig machine for coffee and a fridge. Beware the blue light. As I usually suggest, if you are a light sleeper make sure to bring some eye shades, in this case the light on the fridge, while very pretty is also very bright. The other item to remember is earplugs; this is a city hotel and comes with city noises, at 6.30 am the trash truck was doing its rounds.
The TV is huge and perhaps for this room a little too large as you are quite close to it and therefore there is some distortion to the picture.
Bathroom was combo shower/bath; a hairdryer was supplied.
Free Wifi with good reception in the room.
There are restaurants – and an ice cream shop - within walking distance ( Mexican next door worth going to) and as breakfast was not offered at the hotel (I think due to Covid 19 restrictions) I was able to pop out in the morning and grab some coffee at the nearby deli.
If Fido or Fifi want to tag along it is also doggy friendly.

All in all an E-xcellent stay.

I absolutely loved this hotel! In normal times I would rave about the appointments, tasteful design, convenient location on Old Courthouse Square, and friendly service. But in these times of pandemic what impressed me most was their close attention to safety precautions and sanitization. While most establishments in the hospitality industry are struggling to survive in this crisis and all of us understand that it is not advisable to engage in leisure travel, it is heartwarming to discover a place such as Hotel E when a hotel stay becomes inevitable. I stayed here on two separate occasions in two different rooms, one a standard Queen and the other a standard King, and both were spacious, spotlessly clean and sanitized. While local regulations do not permit Hotel E to serve food to guests during this pandemic, the staff went out of their way to help me select suitable local restaurants within walking distance. The Mexican restaurant right next door was excellent, and Mac's Deli across the Square served a wonderful American breakfast. This was my first stay in Hotel E in Santa Rosa but certainly not the last. The fact that the hotel is within easy walking distance of the Smart Train between Healdsburg and Larkspur also made it a very convenient option.

The rooms are nice, but the Hotel is across the street from a public square that is full with homeless people. My issue has nothing to do with the homeless people, we actually fed them one night. The problem is the front door of the Hotel is always open. You can walk in and go right up the stairs and NO ONE from the front desk can see who walks in and out.

Hello Duff34, Thank you for staying at Hotel E. Thank you for letting us know about your concerns with safety. We have not had an incident at the hotel and we do monitor folks coming in and out of the hotel. Our front door does automatically pull shut at 10pm and requires a guest key to enter. We will certainly do everything possible to ensure safety at the hotel.

My mother and I booked the Hotel E somewhat last minute for a mother-daughter trip to Sonoma and Santa Rose for wine tasting. The price of Hotel E in Santa Rosa was considerably less than that of any hotel in Sonoma and was centrally located within walking distance of local restaurants. The hotel was recently built and was exquisite in its cleanliness and value per dollar. The front desk assistants were very helpful as well throughout the checkin. The concierge was very polite and ensured that all doors were open and any assistance with our bags was met. Lastly, the hotel manager offered us a free wine tasting for two, which I thought was very thoughtful.

Hotel E is a really neat place to stay - I love that it's in a historical building right in the downtown area. It looks really cool and is within walking distance to so many great places to eat and shop. The staff are all really friendly and are eager to help as best they can.

During our stay, we had a couple of issues that left me with the overall impression that Hotel E's service could be made even better with some closer attention to some of the seemingly small details. The first issue was with the room's thermostat. It was chilly, and the thermostat readout was blank, with a little symbol. After a back and forth with the nice woman at the desk, she came up to see if she could figure out what was going on with the thermostat. She did her best, but said she hadn't yet been trained on the thermostats, and would let us know when she got a call back from her boss. We had asked for extra blankets, but she was unable to find anything but a couple of sheets, which she offered us. The next day, she told us the symbol on the thermostat meant a window was open, but that the sensors on the windows are finicky, so we could try pushing the windows further closed and hopefully get the sensor to read correctly. We tried that without success, and the thermostat remained out of order for the second and final night of our stay.

The other issue was a smaller one, but still a little bothersome. On our final night, I turned the TV on with the remote, which gave a "no hdmi input" message on the screen. After pulling the TV away from the wall and checking that all cords were firmly plugged into the TV and the DirecTv hub, the "no input" message was still the only thing the tv would display. It was after 9 and we decided not to call the front desk to try to get the DirecTv working at that point.

I want to underscore, the staff was really nice and helped us to the best of their ability when we had issues. I think if the staff were made familiar with more of the "what if this happens?" type of scenarios during their training, and if the cleaning staff were to do a quick tech check (thermostat/tv/lights/etc) to ensure everything is working before the room is approved to be available for guests, Hotel E's service would go from good to excellent.

If you like new hotels with a lot of style and charm, this one is for you. It was a great value and the staff was outstanding and very helpful. This was probably the nicest hotel that I have stayed at in past several years out of 50+ other hotel stays at other hotels.

This is a great hotel in a renovated, historic bank building. Hotel E is hitting it on so many fronts, but really missing it on a couple. Front desk staff was kind, helpful, valet was great, room was charming and clean. However, advertised as 'luxury linens'... my fitted sheet had 3 LARGE holes in it! I could hardly believe it! Definitely NOT luxury linens.
Also, no bathrobes as advertised.
Because of COVID, there isn't housekeeping unless requested. However, there wasn't a liner in my trash can, only 1 little bar of soap, 2 coffee pods... I reserved for 4 nights (2 people)
I felt uncomfortable having to ask the front desk for basic supplies. I wish they had noted I was staying for 4 nights and at least supplied adequate items to get me through.
Yes, the hotel is pet friendly, however no 'poo' bags, girl at front desk had no suggestions for dog friendly trails, businesses, etc.
Downtown Santa Rosa used to be charming and beautiful.. now there is a significant homeless population and many empty storefronts... it's sad to see! I walked my dog early and late and though I didn't feel 'unsafe', it was definitely far from ideal..

The location of this hotel can't be beat and their customer service is absolutely top notch! While I initially booked for December, they were happy to move our reservation at the last minute.

The room was spacious, the bed was cozy, and the wine selection was *chef's kiss*! I added on the dog package (absolutely worth it). While the purpose of my trip was to see my ill father, the hotel's aesthetics made us feel as though we were on vacation. We had a lovely view of the square as well!

Extremely Covid safe. The team really went above and beyond to make us feel safe and welcomed! We plan to make to come back every time we visit family.

First, the positive. Nothing but good about the desk and valet staff. The location is perfect if you need to be downtown, and there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. If you don't need to be downtown, I found the railroad district more pleasant.

Now, the rest. We were streaming a recording of an international sporting event when a QUARANTINED! message appeared on the screen, warning us that we were being blocked for viewing content that was "in violation of the purpose of this network." Somewhere on that network, our internet activity was being monitored (meaning yours will be too). That's disturbing. The fact that they chose to block a bike race is just funny.

Beyond that, I won't go into a laundry list of the housekeeping mishaps - there were multiple, even with the limited service currently available. Bathrooms are big with European-style fixtures and a large shower, no tub. The rest of the room is small. Parking is not available on site; you can feed the meter all day, find a public lot, or let them valet off-site for $16.

If you're there on business, you won't find an adequate work space. You'll be at a countertop with a bench that won't be comfortable for working all evening.
