Welcome to The Astro Motel in our colorful corner of Santa Rosa, California. We look forward to having you as our guest. Built in 1963 in the heyday of the American motor lodge, The Astro was ambitiously remodeled into a 34-room urban motel in 2017, with original mid-century modern furnishings, a lush edible garden, and a passion for Sonoma County's limitless offerings. Described as a “gleaming midcentury masterpiece” by the Press Democrat on its opening day in January 2018, The Astro offers visitors to Sonoma County an affordable, urban, adventurously designed headquarters. The property was born again when members of the team behind the nearby restaurant The Spinster Sisters acquired it to further develop their overlooked corner of Santa Rosa filled with makers and doers. The Astro has been featured in Vogue, GQ, The Advocate, Goop, Sunset Magazine, Sonoma Magazine, Outside Magazine, San Francisco Weekly, Eater San Francisco, The North Bay Bohemian and The Points Guy. Amenities: – Casper mattresses and pillows – High thread count bed linens with custom bedspreads – Curated selection of NorCal snacks and refreshments in our minibar – Chivas Soap and Shikai bath products – Free wifi and parking -- Complimentary Continental Breakfast – Flat screen televisions

Loved the hotel. Really cool, modern and a 10 minute walk from the centre. Great for beer tourism. Lovely detached room with sofas, games, breakfast etc. Loved everything. Not the cheapest, but a great place, clean, comfy and a great sleep.

We stayed at this motel on our way along the 101. What a find! This motel is NOTHING like the usual motel. All of the appointments are mid-century modern--almost like visiting a very comfortable museum. The rooms and appointments were artistically presented, with special attention to environmental considerations. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Like the stay, the continental breakfast was NOTHING like a usual paltry morning snack. There were fresh-baked quick breads, delicious granola and yogurt, as well as juice and good coffee. We will definitely seek this place out for a return visit.

The room was clean, the staff was nice. It’s probably one of my favorite hotels Ive ever stayed at! It was the first day they started serving breakfast so that was awesome!! The only thing I’d say is on hotels.com I’d make sure to put that their is a pet fee instead of it just saying pet friendly. I didn’t mind paying the fee, I just think it’d be nice to know before.

Every staff member here was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Loved the retro decor, ahhhhhhmazingly comfortable beds, and clean rooms. I did not find the neighborhood to be “sketchy” at all, as another reviewer did. Short walk to many restaurants and downtown area, next to Juliard park and bike/hike trail. I would definitely stay here again.

The Astro has been well restored to its retro past. Rooms are well kitted out and each has some wonderful pieces of midcentury furniture and fittings. The facilities are good, with the outside seating areas and the communal sitting room being good venues to meet other people. We really enjoyed it. The area appeared perhaps not to be the best but we walked around the area over our three days there and had no problems. We had no problems with parking.
