We had a fun 1-night stay at Safari West. The grounds are beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed the safari ride. The atmosphere at dinner was fun...like going to camp, but as a family. The food was good and plentiful. Later in the evening, we all enjoyed the smores and campfire. And we had a nice breakfast in the morning. Our... More

We could not go through the wine country without staying overnight at Safari West again. The evening barbecue was average but convenient if you are staying overnight. Love, love, love the openness of the tents. They are so luxurious-camping fresh air while sleeping in a nice big bed. Of course loved all the animals roaming around. Our guide on the... More

This was our first visit to Safari West. We were treated to a special lunch among some of the animals and then we boarded our safari truck and spent a couple hours viewing and learning about all the animals; giraffes, zebras, rhinos, wildebeests, etc. There are lots of grazing animals and very few predators- apparently there are cheetahs but we... This is a unique and memorable place (although be prepared to sleep poorly despite earplugs given the hundreds of nearby birds--perhaps try more white noise?). Food buffets are set times and delicious but add up fast for a family. The safari was a must, loved seeing those giraffes, gazelles, and zebras up close (no elephants or predatory big cats on... Went here with another couple with plans for a safari tour, dinner, and spending the night. Had a great time. Tour was awesome with lots of picture taking opportunity. Food was very good. Rooms were beautiful with a comfortable bed and a deck for eating and drinking wine. Good sleeping even though we had a noisy bull frog.

We just visited Safari West in the rural part of Santa Rosa, not far from Calistoga. We did an overnight stay and went on a safari and also had dinner at the location. The grounds were fantastic and the 3 hour walk and ride safari was great. It tent cabins were very comfortable and had great decks for viewing the... More

The name came up when I googled nature adventures near San Francisco , decided to go there for my birthday with my BFF. We had a blast ! You have to sit on top of the jeep and experience all the humps and bumps to enjoy the ride to the max. The ride is over 3 hrs and it could... More

WHAT A GREAT GIFT!!! Thanks mom & dad! Our bungalow overlooked the huge pen in which many African animals roamed. We drank a GREAT bottle of red (picked up while wine tasting in Napa on our way there) from our beautiful deck watching the antelope and giraffes. Beds were COZY. Shower was HOT. Ambiance was GREAT. Met some cool people... More

With young kids there is only so much winery touring possible in Sonoma County. Safari West was a great way to enjoy the unique landscape of the family and gain a lot of knowledge about endangered animals from all over the world. This place is a paradise for bird lovers with a large aviary in which you can walk around... More

great experience. Amazing place to go with family and friends specially with kids. Highly recommend staying the night. If weather is cold, be sure to take warm cloths, thermal etch or possibly portable heater.
