Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.

Could not be a better location, 2 blocks from cliffs in Santa Monica and 1 block from the 3rd St. Promenade, it's just older and a little rundown. New carpets and paints would do wonders, but the price is good for the area. $35 parking and $15 internet were bad though. Walls ar

This hotel is in a great location close to shopping, beach and pier but is poorly maintained. Ratty old furniture, double beds not queen, minimal bedding, cracked tiles in bathroom. Spacious so if you have a large group willing to sleep on floor and want something affordable this

Cal Mar hotel is located in a very convenient area; close to the beach/Pier and high street shops. The apartment was very clean with a comfortable bed and good TV. However, the kitchen and bathroom were very ancient and looked like they were fitted in the 60s. ..but maybe this is

Is there parking and if so is it free?
Yes, we do have parking around the hotel building it is covered parking and the fee is $34.10 per night. There is no street parking and if you would like there is a city parking garage at 4th street and Wilshire just a 5 minute walk from the hotel that you can leave your car overnight for $17.00.

We (my wife and I) are planning to visit you guys in the summer of next year. We will be travelling with our 13- and 16-year old kids. Would a suite with a queensize bed and a couch/sofa-bed fit? Thx Jos
I would suggest a double room which has two full size beds in the bedroom and a queen size b ed that pulls out from the sofa

I stayed there in Jan of 2012. They were renovating at that time. But a lot of these comments sound like guests are still encountering shabby rooms etc. What's the status of the hotel now? There were many things I liked about the place and some I did not like. But the staff was great; so helpful and friendly. Thanks PR
I believe I replied a few days ago; however, we have placed wood floors in many of our downstairs rooms.. All of our rooms are clean and comfortable. Plus we have a staff that "GOES THE EXTRA MILE FOR OUR GUESTS" . We definitely hop to see you soon! Susan Somers General Manager Cal Mar Hotel Suites
