I was pleasantly surprised to walk into a modern looking room. Not sure how long ago it was refurbished, but the room was clean, simple but well styled. It was spacious (and I was in a party of 3 female adults sharing 2 double beds!) and well laid out. The bathroom was large, though a bench around the basin would... More

Last week I spent three nights at the Bayside Hotel. I was in room 122 which is on a side walkway in between the back parking lot and the front office. I found the location to be very quiet, which is very important to me. The rooms in the front have ocean views but are also on a the street... More

Room was pretty standard--2 full sized beds, nothing special. It actually reminded me of an economy motel in terms of size and layout. That said, it's right across the street from a giant beach and close to santa monica pier. One strategy would be to stay here to save money (but not much) and eat and drink at Shutters close... Stayed here June 5 thru 7th. Then went to another hotel because the past reviews were not so great. I was pleasantly surprised. They have free bikes, umbrellas, folding chairs, and beach towel with beach bag. Also, we could see the ocean from our room. The room was very basic with full size bed which was very comfortable. The staff... More

Nice basic hotel near the beach. The hotel has private parking and there is metered public parking near by as well. It's an easy walk to the beach, the pier, restaurants, and other fun attractions. If you can't walk there... Left/ Uber and cheap options as well.

Hotel is an easy walk to Venice Beach and only a few mins walk to Santa Monica Pier. Hotel doesn't look much from the outside (old too) but the rooms are lovely (roomy, big comfortable bed and tastefully decorated with a beachside holiday house feel). Rates are good too. We enjoyed our brief stay and will def stay there again.

Spent 4 night is the well maintained gem. An older hotel with rather thin walls but our rooms was freshly painted and very nice decor. Best rooms with a ocean view are 201 and 203 on the second floor. Other rooms have street trees and shrubs blocking some of the view. 1st floor facing ocean have good views above street... More

The exchange rate for GBP/USD was not good during our visit to america so hotel rooms in Santa Monica were relatively expensive compared with our previous visits to the US. This hotel was one of the more affordable options at £225 a night and fairly price given the close proximity to Venice Beach and Santa Monica Pier. The room was... More

I booked online with trip advisor and saved quite a bit of money. When I arrived I was greeted, helped and taken to my room by one of the MOST professional, friendly, genuine people I have had the pleasure of working with at a hotel. He offered to take my luggage upstairs ( no elevator) as I am partially disabled. I... More

Paid extra for the beach view and it was worth it. I brought my own bike since I'm doing the Tour of Long Beach. I'm not sure if the bikes on property are free. It's a block away from the beach and bike path. Would recommend riding along the bike path. Walking distance from good restaurants, may 2 miles to... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
