Not a fancy hotel with lots of ammenties, but an affordable stay in a fantastic location, close to the beach/pier and shops. We loved the large room and the fact that we had our own private courtyard. Was also great to have a small fridge and microwave. Free wi-fi worked well. Rooms were older style, but more than adequate -... More

If you are looking to stay out at the beach all day in Santa Monica and Venice, this is the perfect spot for a great value for a generally expensive area. It's quirky and vintage with California charm. The only issue was staff was very stingy about giving out towels and washcloths, and claimed that people steal them. They still gave... More

We stayed here on our California trip! While Santa Monica is very expensive, this place is perfect for the price. Right near the beach and pier. Walking distance from everything. The staff is very friendly and saved us a parking spot since we arrived late. The room was clean and new furniture. The bathroom was a little outdated. But really... More

When we first arrived we wondered what we had done - the owner told us (and other guests newly arriving) that you could not get a meal for under $100 per plate in Santa Monica. Of course there are plenty of places to eat for much less than that! We ate on the pier, Cheesecake factory, food court in the... More

We'd read reviews in advance, so we came prepared with our own shampoo, face cloths and white noise sound machine. The front desk clerk was a little crusty when we first arrived, because we arrived 30 minutes before check in, but our room was ready so she gave us the green light. After that she was very pleasant, always saying... More

When we arrived on a gloomy day, jet lagged, tired and grumpy, we were disappointed with the hotel. After a much needed sleep and waking to a bright sunny day, our attitude changed. Yes the hotel/motel is quite dated, but it is clean, the staff are really friendly and it's very close to the pier and only a short walk... More

Cute little 70-80's style beach side motel. Awesome value for money. LOCATION.LOCATION.LOCATION, ten minute walk each way to catch the hop on hop off bus. Staff friendly, welcoming and helpful. No security. The window next to our door didn't lock and didn't have a broom handle to lock it like I noticed other rooms had as I walked past. The... More

Travelling solo I really wanted to have a place close to everything with a great casual beachy vibe, Seaview was perfect! Walking distance to the beach, pier, third street promenade, Santa Monica Place, everything you could want. Really easy walk in to Venice beach too which is a must. I stayed in an upgraded room which was awesome, great big... More

Really enjoyed my stay at the Seaview Hotel. The price and location are excellent. The room was nice, I really liked that it had tiles and not carpet and the bed was comfortable. Everyone there was very welcoming and helpfull. Perfect for a stay by the beach on a budget.

The hotel is clean and rooms are large with a kitchenette, one bar of soap , no shampoo, and two small towels. It is in a great location, walking distance to the pier and Santa Monica restaurants, but very loud, it is right on Ocean Ave. and there is lots of car and foot traffic right outside the window. You... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
